Went there for a private event, like any bar they have security at the door to check ID and for weapons. It's a bit small, but they make it work. All the staff were great and friendly. It looked like nothing on tap and no alcohol just beers. They have many selections and always served cold, they have buckets or a la carte. read more

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. The owner is super cool & chill. The security dude has been cool from the jump. Before I even knew he was the security haha. Everyone is just super nice and fun. Especially the one behind the bar. Such a fun bubbly person. She's super sweet & makes some bomb miches. The name is Kim btw. Try her micheladas. This place had me with the pool table but then I walk in and see the karaoke happening and then the corn-hole boards on the floor. It's a good size spot. This bar is pretty cool. They play live music sometimes and that's great. It would be a great place, but they really shouldn't let the bouncer drink, especially early in his shift. We left to go to Holiday Bar for a bit then came back. He gave my friend a hard time because he remembered me but not him. It's clear he had a few. Then, when my friend went to the restroom he took the bottle out of my friend's hand and said something unintelligible but based off of his facial expression, it was condescending. Then, once we had our fill of music and were gonna head back to Holiday Bar, he says something to the effect of "You in a rush?" to my friend in a super dismissive way and my friend didn't hear him so he repeats it with even more salt... Then, once we're out he comes out and he's like "I was cool with chu, I was cool with chuu!!" They definitely should let the bouncer get this wasted at 10PM. Good music. The atmosphere was amazing, however, the bouncer wasn't all that great. I went with my friend and the bouncer was "cool with him" but not with me. When I decided to use the restroom, he took my bottle (it was empty but still) he took it as if I was going to do something. My friend and I left to Holiday Bar. The bouncer said "I'm cool with you" but said "you in a rush?" to me. I'm sure the bouncer was drinking that night. I've been here a couple times, and have neglected to leave a review. I dropped off my daughter today for a party, and went about some business, and returned. Sitting at the front couch, Ms. Najera-Canada approach me to make sure everything was OK. Had a wonderful conversation with her and I'm just so impressed with this operation. My daughter had a great time and enjoyed herself, yet again. On a scale of 1 to 10, she said she rated her day here at 1000. read more

The Blvd is a pretty awesome spot. I know it used to be real ghetto and thuggish but since its re-opened and been under management for the past few month I've had some epic times here. First off the beer is a decent price. $4 bottles, $9 pitchers on tap. Pretty wide variety or beers. From domestic to imports and a couple of craft beers. No Liquor as of now but from what I hear thats another thing soon to come. Theres a pool table where you can play for free. There is a sound system and small stage for performing artist. The reason I love the Blvd is they helped me host a beer pong tournament. 16 teams. All the teams got shirts and the winners took home a custom made beer pong table. The Blvd and their staff helped all along the way. Gave me a great price on the beer for the tournament and attended to all our crazy needs. Like 32 pitchers of beer floating around their bar. It was bad ass. The blvd is definitely an up and coming spot in Boyle Heights. Locals who know the area know its not as bad as it once was. And the entire community is having a resurgence. Ill be hosting another Tournament in September and I look forward to working with the Blvd in making it another memorable experience. read more

Cool spot. Cheap booze. 100oz Modelo beer for $22, good for you and your buddies...or if you are just a beast and don't give a shit, you can drink it yourself. Only downside is that they just have beer, but a decent selection with some craft beer. Got a pool table and some seats. They have good happy hour prices. Would have been 3 stars... but since such awesome bands play here, I gave it a 4th. Lots of touring bands, which is awesome. The last Threatfest was here too. Kind of a big deal. Tall cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon for $4 AND of Boddington's Pub Ale. BIG D. Only thing I immensely hate about this place is the pretentious, dick security guards. And how humid and gross it gets inside due to lack of ventilation. Bust some holes in the walls or SOMETHING, Jesus. Pretty good sound though, it takes the guy a minute to correct it and get it all straightened out, but when he does, it's not too bad. Huuuuge outdoor area for smoking and socializing in between sets. But it's packed. But still decently sized. Parking is horrendous. I usually park across the street @ the crab shack place. read more

I was at this bar a few weeks ago supporting a local band. My bf and I treated some of the guys to a couple rounds of beer and we called it a night. The girl at bar ran my card and said there was no paper so the transaction was cancelled - I saw the message the machine about the paper and thought it was legit. So she ran my card again on another machine that DID have paper. I couldn't verify in my acct right away if it went through or not so I trusted the girl (Axi sp? but that's what I understood her name to be). Days later I chk my acct and sure enough it was charged twice!!! I went back the following Saturday to let them know and the first thing Axi said was "we had problems with the machine so we weren't using it last week". Instead of snapping as I wanted to I took out my receipt and showed her that she did indeed use it. She stepped to side to talk to one of the guys who was there the week b4 and the she asked me to leave my # and the receipt. I left my # but told her I would NOT be leaving g an original receipt. I screenshot her a pic on the two transactions on my acct (scribbled off my info) and sent her a pic of the receipt. She said the owner would call me the following day and here we are Wednesday and no call!! If ur going to run a small business/bar be legit w customers! I'll have to open a claim w my bank now and go through that process, which is ok, I'll be getting my & bo but it's the principal of it all. There was no need for this. I went bk w the intention of settling it w a simple refund....no bad reviews or anything. Played a couple shows here and it's a bad venue to host a show. They pick random ass people to play security, the restrooms are located right next to the stage which makes it awkward for the performers to move around to let people use the restroom during a fucking performance. Went on a Saturday night to see a couple of bands. Show sold out, so if you can, I suggest buying tickets in advance if that option is available, or get there early. Buying tix in advance is nice if you want to skip the opening acts like I did. The place is medium sized, I'd say holds about 150-200. Two reasons I probably won't return: 1. The place is a sweatbox. Absolutely NO ventilation. I sweated like crazy just standing in the back.... and I'm a skinny guy that doesn't sweat easily! 2. This is my main gripe.... the sound was terrible. I came to see a band I hadn't seen since high school, so I was pretty excited to see 'em. The bad sound pretty much ruined their set. Everything sounded muffled. They need to get a sound guy in there with a board. Hey "The Blvd.", if you're reading this, install some ceiling vents and get a sound guy. The price you charge at the door isn't worth having to sweat like crazy for a bad sound system that seriously takes away from the show. Oh, and if you're a scared little girl like one of the other reviewers here, you might wanna stay on the Westside where you'll be all safe and cozy and drink your Appletini. The reason I like it so much its because it's very near my house. Its big for Punk,Grindcore,Thrash,etc. The music room is very freakin hot! So dont take a jacket. This spot is Once Again open but under new management. The Blvd is one of my, if not, my absolute favorite sports bar to frequent. The staff is chill and friendly. The beer is priced very reasonably and I can enjoy some sweet tunes watch some sports drink a beer and play pool all at the same time. This is the new up and coming sports bar in boyle heights and it is only getting better. Great place to host events or private parties. The owners always make you feel welcomed and the entire vibe is relaxed and care free; like a good getaway spot should be. A place to enjoy yourself and enjoy great company. Definitely a bar to invite your friends to. I recommend for the locals to stop by if you haven't already and see for yourself and for those near downtown to check it out. Cool place to catch punk, powerviolence, metal, and grindcore shows if your a fan of these genres. Alot of local and touring bands. There's cheap beer with a decent selection, which is always a plus and there's a patio in the back so you can grab a smoke. It'sa bit small which is cool to me cuz your really close to the band, and there's always sick pits at this place. There's only two thing wrong with the blvd, the sound guy sucks, doesn't know how to work the mixer, therefore sometimes you can't hear vocals which ruins alot of the bands sets. Iv'e been in a band and personally to me there's nothing that pisses me off than a sound guy not knowing how to work his equipment. Also the promoter which is also the owner I believe, doesn't really give a lot of opportunity to a lot of local L.A. bands. He only books bands that he likes, which are always either grindcore or metal bands.
