Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

We allm loved the OMG fries and the only regret of the evening was that nobody had room for a pudding. The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. The pub has a more formal dining are and a bar with tables, you can reserve a table in either section. Dogs are welcome in the bar area and children are well catered for, plenty of high chairs (although I would recommend reserving one)and colouring books and crayons for the more artistic toddlers. The atmosphere is good, no doubt helped by a decent playlist on the sound system and a number of Pete Mckee canvases on the walls. The beers are from the Thornbridge brewery and are excellent. The food is also very good, priced in the gastropub range, but is worth the price. I'd recommend booking as it can get (unsurprisingly) pretty busy especially on a weekend lunch time. We decided on the Peacock Inn as it's been years since we went there and the reviews on here suggested it was ok. Far from it. The decor is tired and drab. The menu tried to offer something different to the normal pub grub, which seemed a bonus as we were happy with standard nosh. My partner chose a vegitarian Lasagne and I went for the Rabbit Pie. The Lasagne looked like a road accident and my Rabbit pie was suspiciously full of steak! As I was eating it, the Rabbit pie was crossed off the menu which gave me a sneaking a suspicion that they had already run out and presented me with something else. Either way, the base crust was rock hard and burnt to black in some areas. After we sat and chatted for a good 20 minutes, staring at the left-overs and dirty pots. Noone came to collect these, ask us if we wanted a sweet or even a coffee, I believe they may have been worried about facing a few awkward questions. Apart from 4 other people, we were the only people in the pub, but were strangely left to ourselves. On leaving, there were no bar staff to bit farewell to. A very strange event which will not be repeated.

If you're looking for city centre gastro pub then it's not for you, but if you're after a homely atmosphere with good food in the middle of lovely countryside, then you should definitely pop along. We will definitely go back again.
