Basically Vintages is a small batch winery located in the heart of old town Fort Collins. They have been open for about ten years and they specialize in people coming in and handcrafting their own wine which they then make in house. The way the whole process works is that you come in and have a wine tasting with one of their fantastically knowledgeable winemakers. They run through a huge gambit of wine varieties from all over the world in an effort to teach you about wine and hone you taste to what you prefer. After that there is no obligation but you can order a case of wine and have it made there for you. Once you wine is ready, you come back in to bottle, label and cork your wine. The wine is priced by the case, and is very cheap when compared to buying commercial wine. The wines we tasted were fantastic and the option of making your own is fun and also cost effective. I would definitely recommend this as a fun date or for anyone who wants to learn more about wine. It is also perfect for those more knowledgeable in wine and looking to stock their personal cellar or give out their own wine as a fun gift. The service was excellent and the winery itself was charming for just being in a strip mall setting. The owner even gave the person in our group six free bottles of wine for just bringing her friends in. It was an excellent experience overall.

One word of caution, though. Not to put you off visiting, but just a heads up: Larimer County only allows the winery to have 11 vehicles in their parking lot. A wine tasting reservation does secure you a spot. Long version - we were visiting Loveland, CO (from Phoenix, AZ) for a very short trip & wanted to cram in as much as we possibly could. Blendings was one of the first wineries we found doing a Google search for the area. What a fantastic place, no joke. We made the reservation online, and not gonna lie, I got nervous about the 11-car limit. I sent an e-mail to a couple of their "Contact Us" addresses. One did not go through. When I reached out to them via Facebook, someone replied almost immediately, thanking me for letting them know about the bad e-mail & also confirming that yes, a tasting reservation guarantees your car has a spot in their parking lot. Now that is excellent customer service. When we arrived this particular Thursday for our 4 o'clock reservation, it was to a gorgeous spot. Green vineyards, a babbling brook, a gorgeous & well decorated eating / tasting area, a beautiful patio for more tasting ambiance, plus a couple more covered areas in their small side yard. Katie welcomed us with a cheery hello & bright smile. She was very friendly as we navigated through our confusion over the reservation. She was giving us a 4-flight tasting when we reserved the Blendings Experience (6 flights, charcuterie plate, bottle to take home) ... or so we thought. Turns out, we weren't paying attention to their website when we signed up & clicked on the other link, the one for the 4-flight tasting. She was super sweet though & said the Blendings master could be there in 30 min if we wanted to go that route. Not wanting to rush anyone because of our screw up -- and because we were thirsty now! :-) -- we opted to go w/ the normal tasting. What a treat that was. Probably a good thing, too, because the flights were generous pours; I don't think I could have handled 2 more pours. LOL! With all the wine consumption, we ordered a veggie plate, as well as a charcuterie plate. Plus, Katie gave us some spicy saltines to go with it. Tasty! The hummus w/ the veggies had a little kick to it, & the small pita pockets were perfect. The charcuterie plate had some wonderful cheese slices, a nice selection of olives (you could choose to go w/ nuts instead of olives), plus the meat & crackers. It was so good we ordered a 2nd charcuterie. There was an excellent selection of wines to choose from the tasting menu. One or two I wanted they were out of, but we were also able to substitute from their other selections. They also had a couple special seasonal wines, as well as some cocktails, on top of a few frozen wine slushie concoctions. Too many choices. We totally should have taken an Uber/Lyft. Ha Ha! We got through our flights, then tried a few of their cocktails: Old Fashioned, Lavender Lemonade, and one of their frozen. Every single one was delicious. All in all, we spent a couple hours at Blendings. We could have spent so much longer, but then we totally would have needed a ride home. We bought a few bottles of their sweet wines: Strawberry Blonde, Caramel Apple, and Blue Me Away. It was a hard decision to make, which bottles to buy. If you are ever in the Fort Collins or Loveland area and want to have a fantastic wine-tasting experience, you should reserve a tasting at Blendings Winery. You'll have a memorable experience.

Pretty quickly over the following 60 minutes he became verbally aggressive, psychologically abusive, and patronizing to myself and my girlfriends. I have NEVER in my life had this experience, and I have traveled all over the US and the world, interacting with thousands of people from countless cultures. William literally flipped a switch and began telling us "I have kicked people out of here before who were above you, and you are here" indicating with his hands that we were below whomever he had an experience with in the past. He also told one of my girlfriends that she doesn't know wine and that she is a "condescending bitch", because she was engaged in a conversation with him about his wines. I invited William to sit at our table with us early on (which he did) and when he switched to the drunk monster that he truly is, I saw it in his eyes. It is VERY obvious that this individual has LOTS of issues he needs to work through and is currently using alcohol as a coping mechanism, while also verbally assaulting his female customers. Unfortunately, we were the only 3 people in the tasting room and had we had a male with us, we surely would not have had the same experience. I immediately began to shut down (trauma response) and tears began streaming down my face. Normally with this type of male (gaslighting, condescending, and toxic to the nth degree), I would have been overly confrontational but the things he said and the look in his eyes, I knew that it was in my best physical health to not fully engage. I looked at him right before we left and said "I want you to know that this feeling, the tears I can't control, are real and you alone caused this". He then made fun of me for my tears and told us to leave as we were trying to pay. We obviously left and were and still are in complete shock. This individual needs to not only seek mental and substance use help but also should not be running a winery. Do NOT go to Ten Bears, especially if you are alone, are a group of women, and/or care about the safety of women. Ladies, go to Sweetheart Winery in Loveland, never had an issue there.

I tend towards red wines, but I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the options outside of my normal comfort zone. The Blanchard wines themselves can be more traditional with neat California wines, and sometimes pleasantly funky with the Colorado grapes. They also highlight other great wines from across the country to uplift other lovely bottles you'd never find otherwise. Isn't that fun? The team here is lovely. They're informed and helpful without feeling snobby or elitist like some winemakers can be. I love to ask "Can I have a flight of your current favorites" and I find a new favorite every time. I've been served by Bre, Paige, Madi, Jencee, Claire, and a few others over the last year, and every single staff member deserves a shoutout of their own. Nothing but great conversation and great service from them. Tonight specifically Jencee rocked a crazy busy day all by herself, and was quick and efficient while being so nice and kind to everyone who walked in the door. That kind of service inspired this review. Finally, the location, right? This is easily the best patio in FoCo, complete with fire pits in the winter and big umbrellas for shade in the summer! It's kinda fun to sit and celebrate in a spot where everyone can see you with your fancy wine and charcuterie! ‍ The interior is cute, the exterior is lovely, what more is there to love? I'm a huge fan of the Exchange area, and I'm so glad Blanchard Family Wines is a part of it. What a gem!

During the years I was there, visited on return trips and complaints from some of my family members sometimes my former Wyomingites just do not seem to know what they are getting themselves into. Countless times I have seen ridiculousness trying to be made by people who don't seem to know what they are doing. This ranges from breweries to golf courses. It was like one of the people being interviewed said in Michael Moore's film Roger & Me, 'You can't bring the beach to Michigan'. This eluded to the fact that someone was trying to build a massive water park with artificial beaches in Michigan back in the 80's which went belly up. Much of these endeavors in Wyoming to bring something from somewhere else also met a similar fate. Of course I realize there are many people who are trying to do something and have no idea what they are doing besides Wyoming but there are just so many of these instances here. This brings me to Table Mountain Vineyards & Winery. I heard that there was a winery in Wyoming in the east but I didn't really seem to pay much attention to this information since I am more obsessed with breweries. My brother brought me some of the Cowboy Reserve that he bought there and brought to me and my partner. The cowboy Reserve was a red wine and was aging since 2007. It didn't sound so bad until we tasted it. It was not one dimensional in taste which was good but it did taste very vinegary which was not ok. From what I understand if wine tastes like vinegar it is simply old. I have had other wine from this year at other places and it tastes fine which leads me to the point that the winery may have no clue to what they are doing. Perhaps I just got a bad batch so to speak. I haven't tried their other wines and I am not too sure if I want to. The wine cost about $13 to $14 which is a lot of cash for the quality of wine I had. Maybe some of their other wines are better but..... To give the winery some credit the wine didn't taste like metal. I had a wine once that did. D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G!!
