    Stay far away. Jack the "owner" is a fast talker…read more He came over, and we had a discussion about vertical blinds that my wife and I both decided we wanted. He spent his entire time trying to talk us into pull down blinds, and kept telling how he did 6 million dollar homes in Hewlett Harbor (like I care). When things wern't going well, he started yelling at me infront of my wife, and our house guest. I told him to not yell at me in my home, but it fell on deff ears. After telling him to tone it down he kept his voice up, until I gave him 10 seconds to leave. Maybe I gave TMI in this review, but I would not hire this guy, I'd rather leave my windows with no dressing on them. If you dont mind giving your $$ to an arrogent person, then this is your guy. With so much competition out there, he ought to take lessons in obedience. No respect at all, esoecially infront of woman. Flexing muscles isn't going to work at 431.

    The Shade Store is not inexpensive, but offers (I thought) premium service. I ordered shades for my…read moredining room, drapery for my living room and shades (two) for my bedroom. Aileen F was helpful and responsive to any questions. When. It came to my bedroom, I really was nervous about blackout shades. I emphasized that I wanted my bedroom to be dark, but not totally black. Aileen recommended a Sunbrella fabric and said it would block out 90% of the light. I was not alone when she said this. I gave a deposit and eventually Aileen F. called for the rest of the payment and to schedule an installation date. Prior to the installation, I received a call that the fabric I had ordered for the drapery had been discontinued. Obviously, I was disappointed. Aileen F. offered to let my upgrade to any fabric I wanted, but, unfortunately, what I had ordered was perfect and I didn't care for anything else. While my money was refunded, I wasn't thrilled that there seemed to be a lack of communication between the factory and The Shade Store. When my shades were installed, I was very happy with my kitchen shades, but my bedroom shades did not block out ANY light. When. Aileen F. e-mailed me about my satisfaction, I told her I was unhappy with my bedroom shades. She contacted me not long ago again inquiring about my satisfaction and I again wrote that the bedroom shades were a problem. I didn't get a response either time. I have been sleeping with a sleep mask. My bedroom is no longer a sanctuary, but a nightmare. The room is lit up at sunrise-about 5 15am (photo below). I recently hired another company to install blackout blinds behind my current blinds. I will be able to roll them down before I go to bed. I didn't have the heart to pull down the expensive shades from The Shade Store. The representative from the new store I am doing business with came to my home to show me samples and measure. He explained that Sunbrella will not block out light.HOW CAN I SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE IF THE SUPPLIED E-MAIL DOESN'T EXIST? See photo below.

    DO NOT SHOP HERE! I am not one that typically posts reviews, but this place is an absolute mess. My…read morewife and I requested two skylight shades to be installed/ordered as this is well out of my scope of handyman expertise. The owner Joy originally sent her son to measure/give a written estimate and we shortly after arranged to drop off a deposit and have items ordered. Late evening the day before our scheduled drop off, we were called stating that they were increasing the price as the son had provided a bad quote. After arriving to the store and questioning this we were also told while they were happy to take the deposit that they were no longer sure they could do the job and would have to send a more senior person back to evaluate. When they came back, almost a week later, the actual installer had to remeasure, as the owner's son had measured improperly as well, but said the job was of course doable. At that time the team seemed apologetic for the inconvenience and told us that if we trusted them they would make it right. As such, we decided as we had already invested the time to give the deposit and we were told they would be ready 4 weeks later for install. 2 weeks after, my wife called for an update and we were informed the shades shipped and due in the next day or two, but that since it was their busy season would not be able to schedule install until several weeks later (~5 week since ordering). 1 week prior to install we get a message saying they have to push back the date of install because the blinds weren't actually in/never even shipped. When talking to her son, he blamed a long term employee that "doesn't know how to use the computer" and when talking to Joy the owner, she states the person who originally told us everything was in while admittedly incompetent had worked their forever and allows it cause she is a loyal person. She then verbally berated me over the phone for making them upset! Do yourself a favor and go to a real store. These folks lie, continually change their story and misled us, particularly after taking our money. This experience has been nothing but a headache and a waste of our time.
