The stylist was very kind and seemed knowledgeable. She arrived 1-2 hours late due to Portland traffic, which did affect my schedule, but she communicated the delay and remained professional. I got a trim and silk press last summer, and it looked great at first, but unfortunately, my hair reverted by the next day. That was disappointing, especially for the price. There was also an additional charge for my 4C natural hair, which wasn't clearly explained upfront. Since her services are marketed toward natural hair, I expected more transparency around pricing. That said, I do want to acknowledge that there aren't many Black hair care businesses in Vancouver, and I truly want to see them succeed. I hope her services and communication continue to grow.

Having known a few of these girls for years, I can be the first to say that you must try this place for yourself and remember that for every one person that is pissed, there are a hundred whom are happy and generally most people do not take the time to write nice reviews. So let me start by saying that my stylist is Nicky, however Neena has stepped in in a pinch before when Nicky was away. I love these ladies. Nicky, Phama, Neena and Liz are the best and usually the main ladies I see when I have my appointments, however all of the ladies whom work here are nice and professional. I would trust any of them to do my hair and to give me their honest opinion. I can say that in any service based industry, you are going to have people who don't get you, maybe they don't get exactly what you want your hair to look like, or maybe, just maybe you can not explain it correctly either. Bringing in a picture is great, however maybe your hair is not the same texture as the person in the picture, etc. Any stylist will do thier best, but let's be honest... no two people look the same and no two cuts will look the same either. Also you should never go to someone for four months, claim you hate your hair, they are not doing a good job and then expect a refund. If your looking for a free, or cheap service then maybe your friend who will do your hair for "coffee" is the better option for you. Also NEVER EVER treat your own hair in-between a color process your and your stylist are working on. If you go elsewhere, or put something into your hair that your stylist has not given, or recommended for you, you are asking for breakage and other issues. To anyone who reads these reviews. Remember there are always two sides to a story and take it from a very loyal client of 15 plus years (with Nicky) your will be happy here.

I'd been able to grow it out and let her know I'd strongly considered canceling because I'd been very happy with my hair. In addition to multiple pages of pics including what I loved or hated about each and said let's just do a "light trim/ no layers / zero length off front". It's as if after confirming what I absolutely did not want, she thought "I'm going to give her all of them". I walked out with literally every single thing I had clearly communicated I did not want. I have to live with this nightmare cut until I manage to grow it back out. Again. So if you have any hesitation at all, I would cancel your appointment and think long and hard before you rebook it.
