I don't know how I've not reviewed the Blackpool Tower yet with it being a local attraction in the Blackpool area and probably a must-do while in the area, due to how little there is there. Most northerners, Mancunians have probably visited and saw the Blackpool Tower in their lifetime, or even go inside it where they often have things on, or a less than impressive/exciting view of Blackpool. The Blackpool Tower was built in 1894, a model of the Eiffel Tower in Paris which opened 5 years earlier, and now has the status of a Grade I listed building, standing at 518 feet and being the 103rd tallest freestanding tower in the world, it is a really nice, cool attraction for a small town like Blackpool, which has been voted one of the worst places in Britain to live, as I recall. It still isn't impressive or as well-visited and well-known as The Eiffel Tower it is modelled on, and is mainly a place known throughout Britain and the somewhat local area, but that's to be expected. The Blackpool Tower now has an "Eye" with views of Blackpool and a 4D cinema, but there isn't anything that spectacular to see, with it being Blackpool and probably not even worth paying to use this attraction. The pricing is reasonable, being £13.50 or £10.50 when prebooked online to go up the tower to the Eye part, and then £25 or £20 to get the Circus in with it too, so it is quite nice for an affordable family day out as well, with Group of 4 tickets being available for £34 for just the Eye, or £72 for the Eye and the Circus or the Dungeon, but I feel when you want to include a few more things, the pricing gets ridiculous, as £18 a person (adults and children) seems a bit steep to me, and that could be one of the reasons why this attraction is struggling to meet the glory of The Eiffel Tower, or other attractions in other UK cities. There isn't much else to say about The Blackpool Tower, it is quite a nice, old tower and great for a town like Blackpool to give it a better factor, which most cities don't have and helps provide finance and tourism to the town, which is much needed due to the state Blackpool is in at the minute, but still in most parts it can get quite expensive, especially for a family and most of the attractions are just satisfactory, therefore I sadly can't give any more than 2 stars.

When visiting fabulous Las Blackpool it's compulsory to start with it's most famous landmark. The Blackpool Tower, modelled on the Eiffel Tower, was constructed in 1891 and opened to the public in 1894. It has undergone many refurbishments since its opening, with the most recent being a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2011. The refurbishment includes the Blackpool Tower Dungeon, a walk through some of North West England's most horrible history and the Blackpool Tower Eye, a 360 degree observation deck with a Sky Walk and 4D cinema experience. The grandeur and heritage of the 123-year-old building has been retained, including the Tower Ballroom and Tower Circus. The tour starts with a quick 4D movie which features a small boy's journey to the seaside. It includes sights, smells and special effects as well as a few splashes of water. It can come across as being a bit cheesy but is actually pretty cool as it immerses you with the experience. The tour continues as you take an elevator to the observation deck at the top of the tower, 518 ft up. The views are fantastic as you get a 360 degree view of the North West England coastline. I was lucky as since it was a clear sunny day when I came here you could see for miles in every direction. The Sky Walk is great and not for the faint-hearted or those with fears of heights as you step on to the laminated glass floor with the Blackpool traffic beneath you. If you are looking for a short break in England then I highly recommend this place!

I knew that I was afraid of heights coming here, and I saw how it worked: glass pane window where you can see straight down. I didn't think I would be scared though to be honest, and I don't know why I thought that because i was quite terrified at first. I couldn't bring myself to just stand on that window pane...I tried edging out onto the areas where you still could see the poles through the glass, just in case it did crack, i was at least still standing on that part...but finally i was pushed onto it by my b/f's family (i swear they're not normally abusive ;) ) and once you get on it the first time, the fright just goes away. SO WINDY UP HERE! though we were here in November, so dress appropriately, no heels and dresses please. Price of admission wasn't too crazy either, it's called the Tower Eye if you're wondering what ticket it should be, it's normally 13 pounds but if you order earlier online, it's 10 pounds.

I came here for a show in the blackpool tower ballroom, rather than to just ogle the eiffel tower model, which is twee enough and a cool enough thing to see by itself. The ballroom is an excellent venue, huge, with an absolutely excellent ceiling. The bar is reasonably priced, with food behind the bar too, in all our ballgown finery, we opted for footlong hot dogs, chocolate eclairs and cakes, and I have to say, they were pretty damn lovely, far better than I expected. The staff were lovely, and it was all terribly well organised. They'd also given space at the back for stalls. The stage was an excellent setting, truly lovely and grand. I'll be going for the same event this year, and I'll look forward to enjoying it and it's setting just as much.

my 200th check in and a quite emotional one. I'm from Blackpool so this is a home town review. Ahem... It's black it's big-ish it's bawdy...very bawdy it has a ballroom at the bottom with a huge organ it has a sub Sears/Willis Tower glass floor for the (not so) faint hearted To be frank, I haven't been inside for years so I don't know what other delights are contained inside this wonderful building but, honestly it has to be seen if you're in town. Right now the illuminations are on and it is lit up with about a million green bulbs-amazing. Who needs the Empire State-pah!

As an absolute lover of all things Blackpool I have been meaning to get round to doing a write up on the tower for ages now, finally here it is. Blackpool has changed greatly through the years, sadly mostly for the worst. Becoming ever more geared towards stag and hen parties and milking every penny it can from it`s visitors but if you choose what you do in Blackpool carefully it can still be a great place to visit. One part of Blackpool that just gets better and better is the world famous Blackpool Tower. It has seen many changes since I was a kid but unlike the rest of Blackpool it continues to change for the better. The tower first opened it`s very impressive doors to the public on 14 May 1894 and unbelievably after just thirty years standing there was plans to pull it down because it had not been painted correctly and the salt from the Irish sea on which the tower stands on the banks of had corroded the tower very badly. Thankfully however the powers to be at that time re-invested in the tower and between 1921 and 1924 the whole of the steelwork in the structure was replaced and it still stands tall and proud to this day. From outside it is easy to think that all the tower is, is a tower and other than taking a trip to the top there would be nothing else to do, of course once you have visited the tower you know different. Once you enter through the giant towers doors there is a magical world inside for kids and adults alike. Inside the massive building that engulfs the base of Blackpool tower you will find plenty to do whether you are 4 or 94 you will enjoy everything the tower has to offer and unlike many attractions these days you truly can call the tower a fun day for the family because if you take part in everything the tower has to offer then it will take you a day to enjoy it all properly. WHAT YOU WILL FIND INSIDE! When you first enter the Tower you will come to the pay in desk where you will pay your admission fee and have your hand stamped with an ultraviolet stamp, the stamp is put on so you can leave the tower at any time and return again during that day. You will also be given a map of the tower so you can find your way around (without it the tower can become a bit of a maze for first time visitors) the map will also have on it the times of certain attractions that happen throughout the day in the tower so you can time your visit so as not to miss anything. When paying you will also be asked which circus performance you wish to attend (the circus performs up to three times daily). I suggest you take the evening circus as the circus is THE main event of the tower and will leave you with a great memory and plenty to discuss on your return to your hotel. Once you have completed all the admission formalities you will head through to the first part of the tower (the aquarium). Inside there is a large range of fish and various other sea creatures in massive glass tanks. The tanks all have signs on them clearly stating which type of fish or other creature is inside and enough information on them to be interesting without becoming boring. Once you have moved around the aquarium seeing what you want to see you can then decide which part of the tower is next for you, some people choose to go through it in order as it comes I personally prefer to wander around doing things in my own preferred order. Directly above the aquarium you will find the pizza restaurant and the Jurassic walk, the pizza restaurant is self explanatory (it`s a restaurant that sells all kinds of pizza`s). The Jurassic walk used to be a dinosaur ride but they have taken out the cars that used to take you round the exhibition and now you just walk round the stone walled eerie walkway staring into the eyes of the massive dinosaur models that surround you. The main reason for taking out the cars is that they have added a new feature to the Jurassic area, a 3d cinema at the end which shows a short film about the under water and on land dinosaurs that used to roam our planet. The 3d effects were brilliant and my fiancée, myself and my 5 year old son loved it. On the opposite side of the tower and up a few steps from the Jurassic walk you will find the breathtaking world famous Tower Ballroom. There is always something going on in the ballroom it can be anything from locals using it for ballroom dancing to quite fantastic shows, we were lucky enough to be there once when the Disney master class was on this was a show featuring all the Disney characters completely played out by kids from the age of 8 to 18 it was a show I will never forget (but then the venue itself is unforgettable). The ballroom consists of a massive dance floor area and a large stage, to the rear of the stage is the Wurlitzer organ which rises through the pit at the back of the stage into full view and is played by one of the towers three resident organists to outstanding quality. Almost every show in the ballroom is accompanied

We had some time to waste, and as we were passing i persuaded the girls to cough up and go in. It was so fun, I was a bit scared going up the ancient old lift but the views were AMAZING! You can go up to a an inside platform and stand on the clear glass part of the floor. (i really couldnt do it!) And then carry on up to the top (well as far as you can go) which is open air (and mighty windy!) There was loads to do inside too. I would love to go back and take the kids. We only had an hour or so to kill, so we didnt get to make the most of it. Def rec'mnd! x

The Tower is Blackpool's mascot, and an icon of England. Great fun for all age groups, but particularly for familes - the newest attraction Jungle Jims Towering Adventureland is a stunning fantasy land that's great for kids parties and will keep them entertained for hours! The award winning circus is appealing to adults as well as children - my boyfriend insists we go to every opening night (he's 34 and we don't have kids to take with us!) If you're a 'Strictly' fan, then you have to check out the magnificent ballroom, where episodes from the 2004 show were filmed. But the ballroom is stunning without all the famous faces, and hosts some great learn to dance and demonstration nights, as well as live music from the famous Mighty Wurlitzer and the house Big Band. The Tower obviously bosts one of the best views of Blackpool, just make sure you visit on a clear day when there's not too much wind, or the lifts might not be running!
