Many Thanks Jude Roy H.

Very busy post office, probably because most of the more convenient other local post offices have…read morebeen closed down. Consequently there is often a long queue. However long the queue is though they always have to try and sell you car insurance, a savings account, a mobile top up or something else that you haven't asked for and don't want. Passport service (and photo booth), car taxation and a Bureau de Change are all available along with the usual PO services. However if you just need some stamps I'd go to WH Smith across the square.

The post is run by an Asian family who, in my experience, have always been very attentive and helpful. They don't boast a huge space, but they still manage to sell everything one may need to buy, from sweets and postcards to postal and office stationery.

The staff know what they are doing and people go through quite quickly but it is the only Post Office in the area so it can get busy. There is a chemist/pharmacy in the same building so it's useful if you have prescriptions to fulfil as well as needing to post letters/parcels. You can send by DPD or Evri as well as Royal Mail. You can buy your postage from eBay and just drop it off and get a certificate of posting at the same time.

They also have a fairly decent supply of mailing materials such as jiffy bags, etc, and a good variety of greeting cards including some humorous ones. Nothing major, and nothing you won't find at other post offices, but it's useful to have it there. The only thing I don't like is that if you time your visit wrong, you will have a long wait because this is the only post office in the area.

I used the equipment without knowing this because there was no sign to say it was out of order. the machine took my money, and when I went to explain this to the staff, they started huffing and puffing and acting like it was my fault. One of ladies (staff) started shouting at me and making threatening comments. Absolutely horrified that people are allowed to work in yhe service industry. Disgusted that no action will be taken against the individual who treated us with such rudeness and disrespect.

Located on the busy Stockport Road, this post office looks tired and old. There are some tattered…read moreflags hanging on rusty flagpoles outside, and the sign is faded. Inside things are perfectly clean and orderly, in fact it betrays the impression its exterior gave me. I absolutely love it when post offices combine being a post office with selling odd little items too, some of which have nothing to do with post or stationary. Stockport Road Post Office is a prime example for this. Here, not only can you post a parcel, but you can also buy confectionary, insoles for your shoes, cigarettes behind the counter and Daz washing powder. Excellent. The staff are pleasant and well-presented and the queue moves quickly so that despite the lack of those self-service machines which I love so much, I'm sending my parcel within just a few minutes of walking in.

You can obviously post letter, parcels, pay bills, exchange money, buy stamps and do all the usual post office tasks. They also sell a limited range of stationery products. They also have a photo booth, which was handy for getting my driving license completed. The service is good, in that they often have three windows open, so the queue moves along nicely. Unusually they also have packages of used Playstation and PSP games bundled up, being sold for around £10 to £15, which is quite handy. Parking is great, as you can park on the main Co-op car park. I don't think there is any danger in losing this office, but I still make sure I use post offices generally whenever I can, so that they don't get closed down. They offer a vital service for the community.
