Darlin little spot at the edge of downtown Raleigh. Pink house on the corner. Inside is small and quaint but all the bitters you didn't know you needed and a tasting bar. In the way back they have a cocktail class. That's was super cool for parties. I found some Luxardo cherries and purchased them. I'd love to come back and buy some cool bartender tools or bitters! Very lovely place!

I was so excited to visit Crude Bitters and Sodas new storefront location during our latest First Friday. The hours were perfect, staying open until 10pm while most shops close up activities at 9pm. We made our way over as our last stop for the night and were graciously greeted and offered a Crank Arm beer even though we arrived ten or fifteen minutes prior to closing. Craig, the owner and creator was fantastic. He talked to us about the shop (ask about the store behind the 'zombie' aka John Locke), the history of Crude Bitters and what their goal is for the location. In a market that is quickly becoming saturated with cocktail bars, Crude's goal is to educate the public. Although I enjoy cocktails and drink them often when going out, I don't always know the logistics of what I'm drinking: why things are paired together or how bitters are involved to enhance the flavors. So if a place is willing to educate its audience while enjoying some tasty treats, I'm a fan! The most astonishing part, Crude offers these educational classes to the public for free! You just have to sign up ahead of time on their website. They also offer supplies and bitters for purchase to help you recreate cocktails they've taught you at home. Located just a short walk from The Depot, it's the perfect spot for true knowledge pursuers. They receive support from Tito Distillery and Fair Game to name a few, and with their donations can help educate the public. I look forward to taking some of the classes they offer and you should too!

    Tiki class!

Great host. I didn't realize how bitters could elevate craft cocktails' flavors. Fantastic time!

Great variety, superb quality. I'd go back, and so should you, but only if you're looking to step your flavor game up.

COOKING CLASS REVIEW ONLY:…read more : ( Sharing the cooking amongst four people is a disappointing experience. Not nearly enough hands-on work for the student (Suggestion: Give people the option to cook as a twosome for a higher fee). : ( Upon entering the kitchen we found our name tags and introduced ourselves to the instructor. When we asked "what is your name?" ...we were told "I will tell you my name later whenever everyone arrives because I have a big 'shpeel' to deliver and I don't want to repeat myself.' (Suggestion: Try to make your clients feel welcomed by saying 'My name is....) : ( Too much of the cooking is not done by the students; even a simple two-ingredient step in the recipe was not done by us but was done by the instructor?! We had to gather around and watch this very simple thing (Suggestion: Let the student do a bit more). : ( Somewhat difficult to hear instructor with exhaust fans and classroom noise. : ) Food was good to eat : ) Having all the raw ingredients set up and measured Maybe if you have friends that want to drink wine (BYOB) and watch you cook ...this maybe a good fit for you.

The reason I state semi is that…read morewhile they do have a good amount of specialty items, there are also a good amount of gaps, especially if looking for specific items. While at first the prices may seem high, the items they are selling are high quality and prices are in fact fairly typical for what they have in store. Now one thing that was surprising, typically when stores sell their own branded items, they are cheaper, however here it seemed to be the opposite with many items. The staff were friendly, but not the most knowledgeable. They were definitely trying to help, but at the same time they appeared to be incredibly busy, even though the store was mostly empty, running back and forth from the back grabbing items and helping customers pickup items before being able to help out others.

This Williams-Sonoma is located at The Streets of Southpoint shopping mall in Durham. It's inside the older part of the mall, on the first floor (ground level) in the center, near the escalators (and Christmas tree during the holidays). This location isn't as big as our home location at Ponce City Market in Atlanta (understandably so). At the time of writing this review, the only other Williams-Sonoma location in the Triangle is at Fenton in Cary. The next closest is probably at Friendly Center in Greensboro. In our experience, the customer service at this location wasn't the best. The employees were older and stuck in their ways. For example, they didn't know how to use the computer/technology meant for them. Yikes. That made things a bit slower and more difficult. They were nice and friendly enough, though.

Over the years, we've gotten small kitchen gadgets here and some cookbooks but not any real major purchases. It's sad that the Sur La Table in the same mall closed, because that gave you more options to shop and compare. My most recent experience was ordering two crystal champagne flutes online and picking them up in the store. I guess I could have called from the parking lot but I wanted to step into the store and inspect them instead of having someone bring them all the way out to the parking lot. I'll still pop in most every time I'm in the mall though, just to see what new they have or are featuring.

The day of, after it was confirmed 310 times that the window was 3pm-6pm, suddenly at 11:50am, it's going to arrive within 30 minutes. Fine! Luckily I happened to be home, because within 90 seconds my doorbell rings and this sole, small guy, who barely speaks a lick of English is there to deliver my sofa and literally the first 2 things he tries to cover to me are 1) I need you to help me and 2) you need to pay me for this Sorry wtf? I'm a 100lb woman. I cannot help you carry a 300+lb couch into my house lol why on earth are you ALONE? Esp when you don't speak any English, sir!? Secondly, you're asking me to give you a tip to do your job? Idk if my MIL failed to tell me that this would be an expectation or not, and I really wouldn't mind tipping the guy, except for, I have no cash on me! I never ever carry cash and certainly wasn't expecting for someone to ask me for it. Being alone, with a stranger, at dusk, asking me for money made me unfathomable uncomfortable. Even though there did not end up being an issue, this is NOT something I should have to anticipate. The couch itself is fine. I don't understand why this gentleman if you could call him that, was ever assigned to this task alone. wtf would have happened if this piece of furniture that came in 3 giant pieces, mind you, needed to go upstairs???? LITERALLY PHYSICALLY it would have been IMPOSSIBLE. WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT??? 10/10 BS if you ask me, I'm glad I didn't pay for this crap myself or I'd be demanding an effing refund for the liability alone wtf
