Small town excellence! I stopped off the intern today to grab a lunch that wasn't fast food or chain and found The Bistro. It's where the locals eat when they're looking for great food and chat time with the neighbors. The dining area is unassuming where the people making your sandwich also take your order at the counter. I had the Club and the cheddar broccoli soup of the day. It tasted like it was made in my Mama's kitchen. If I ever come back this way I'll be stopping in again. read more

What a gem this place is. I have been to Scottsburg many times and I usually end up at some chain restaurant off the interstate or some dumpy restaurant. The Bistro actually cares about the food they serve. It's mainly a sandwich and salad place, but that's all they need to be. The place was busy on Thursday during the lunch hour. I had the daily special which was an Italian sandwich and it was delicious (and huge). They should make it an everyday item for sure. read more

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly service, and warm, mouth-watering food! I felt welcomed even as someone visiting Scottsburg for work as I entered the restaurant to order at the counter. We were offered recommendations upon request and the daily specials were posted on a blackboard as well as weekly specials on another board. Apparently they are updated frequently on the Facebook page. We had the Reuben (substituted with Turkey) and a side of fresh veggies and ranch. I appreciated the option to make it turkey and have a healthier side item for no extra cost. The sandwich blew away my expectations and is the perfect lunch portion made with a heaping pile of turkey, sauerkraut, cheese, and thousand island dressing on two slices of bread and toasted only for $9.95. I would love to try the chicken chili another day or even the Doritos salad. We were also offered free chocolate cookies individually packaged that were supplied by a local baker. Each menu item is made custom and can be modified for the most part. The restaurant dining area and restrooms were spotless and decorated nicely. This is a busy spot for dine-in and take out, but the food is ready within a few minutes. Can't wait to come again soon for a warm bowl of chili! read more

I'm not sure why this place has 5 stars. The place smelled like grease, the man who took our order didn't even greet us when we walked in the door, and he wasn't very friendly. The place is outdated, the tables were dirty and the bathroom door was broken. No toilet paper in there either! The only good thing is the food. But the service, atmosphere and cleanliness needs to change. read more
