If you want to have a relaxing smoke then this is a great place to go. It's situated near a main road and near I-95 and US 1, so very convenient to get to. The selection is great and there are plenty of comfy chairs to sit back and relax in. It wasn't busy at all when I got here around 2:00PM on a Wednesday. They have 2 small lounge areas with TVs for viewing. They also have sodas or if you prefer they have a self serve Keurig coffee for a 1 buck donation. Cigars are very reasonably priced and a nice selection of house cigars to choose from. All in all a great place to relax, have a smoke and mingle with the locals. read more

I have been here twice and both times the customer service has been great. This small shop is a gem with a fine selection of cigars that all burn perfect with the proper BM shop pricing. The Big Smoke has been in business for decades. The first time being here with my brother in 1996. That was when Bruce was the owner. And a artist named David carved the wooden cigar Indian that stood out front of the shop on Granada Boulevard. And whenever I was in Ormond Beach visiting Mom, I would make a point to stop in, buy a cigar, and sit down in the lounge area with Bruce and other cigar enthusiasts, and just enjoy the conversations we had. Living in Orlando, I do not get out to Ormond Beach as often as I like. And The Big Smoke is now under new ownership. But if you are looking for a cigar to smoke there or take home, The Big Smoke has a nice selection of cigars. And prices are reasonable. Do not let the size of the store fool you. The walk in humidor may be smaller than other cigar shops I have been to, but they offer a good selection. And a heads up. The Big Smoke will be having a Olivia Cigar Event on Saturday, March 9, from 1:00-4:00 pm. There is also an event with Drew Estate planned, for those Acid cigar enthusiasts in the near future. I got off to a late start on my last road trip here, so I did not have time to sit and enjoy a cigar here. But on the next trip out, I am allowing myself a little more time. Was going to stop by another outlet not far off I-95 when I was on a trip to Flagler Beach to do some fishing...that store was not scheduled to open until Noon or so, so I headed into town. A friend of mine from Miami was in Ormond Beach for the weekend and I happened to be in Orlando. He posted from this place he had found the day before so we decided to meet there. Walked in and was warmly greeted by those already there. Went into the humidor and for being a fairly small humidor it seemed to have quite a great selection of cigars, including my daily smoke. Prices were great. $6.50 for the Brick House Mighty Mighty Maduro. We sat in a lounge off to the side by ourselves but it wasn't long before others, including the owners came and joined us. I can't tell you how much fun we had and how fast the two hours we were there went. Felt like we were lifelong friends with everyone when we left. Surprised at how many women were there with their husbands also smoking cigars. Loved this place and will certainly go there again when I'm in the Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach area. Only drawback is they are only open until 7:30, so make sure you give yourself enough time. You won't regret it. read more

I'm a bit surprised (and confused) by the bad post on here. I can only conclude that the poster (being from Colorado) has come rarely and showed up on a bad day. My experience has literally been the diametric opposite of his own. When the current owner took over The Big Smoke, the changes were night and day. He opened up a complete second room to allow double the seating, got rid of the old furniture and replaced with newer (and more) furniture, and really put a lot into renovation. What he didn't do, thankfully, is change the spirit of the place. If you want a place to sit and relax with a cigar indoors, this is the place for you. There are a large number of regulars (for good reason), and there is always great conversation. Outside of buying bulk cigars online, the prices for cigars are extremely reasonable (and sometimes I find that certain ones ARE cheaper than online). Is it as cheap as going to a cigar warehouse like JR Cigar? Of course not. It is a tiny, single-owner shop where the guy working the counter IS the owner. I'm constantly amazed that his prices are as low as they are, to be honest. So to conclude, if you want to go to a friendly, local, comfortable place to sit in a leather chair and smoke a cigar, this is the place for you. read more

If you are stranded in Daytona and and cant wait for a cigar you should probably still not go here. Cigar selection is way overpriced and horrendous. They have a slightly more comfortable atmosphere since the previous owner sold the place but the improvements have been subtle. read more

While small, this cigar shop has a great selection of everyday brands, plus always a few new ones to try (along with no-name bargain cigars that are rolled in FL and very good for the price). The owner (Wes) and his wife are both extremely friendly and fully committed to the store. The best part is that you can sit in the big, comfy, leather chairs and have a cigar with the nearly ever-present group of people enjoying them with you. I been going to this shop for 14 years. When Bruce sold it, I thought it was a gone-er! Then my friend's Wes & Vic bought it and the last 6 years have been a 100% improvement! Great People & Good cigars. Cigar selection is the best in Daytona area. But its downhome service and the friendly atmosphere i enjoy the most.
