I knew there would be an ice cream shop in the town somewhere so we started wandering and came across the Mountain Top Yogurt Shoppe. No, it wasn't ice cream, but I knew it would fit the bill. When I walked in, I was greeted with a little sample cup so I could try out a few flavours. The shop has probably eight or ten self-serve yogurt machines, that would be just like a soft serve ice cream machine. The flavours included pineapple, coconut, mango, chocolate cake, pistachio and a whole lot of others that I can't remember. I sampled a few then grabbed a cup and decided on a mixture of pineapple and coconut. You serve it in the cup yourself, then go to the counter to mix in any toppings you would like. They had fresh fruit, gummy candies, an assortment of nuts, coconut, chocolate and others. Once you've got your toppings, you set your cup on the scale and pay for your treat by weight. It was $0.59 per ounce. The yogurt had about the same consistency as soft serve ice cream and was very flavourful. I loved the pineapple. My wife loved the coconut. I really liked the chocolate cake flavour too, but I figured it wouldn't go with the other two kinds. Liked it so much we came back the next night just before they closed. We both got rainbow sherbet on regular cone and we both though the cones were a bit stale. All of this falls short of the excellent meal we had for dinner tonight at the Kilmorey Restaurant. Riley, our server, was so friendly and fun, and our service was great. Our meal started with the Elk meatballs as an appetizer, and they were excellent! I ordered the Salmon, which was again, excellent. I also got to sample Wife's Tomahawk Pork Chop, and all I can say is that I never knew it was possible to make a pork chop taste that good! It was incredible! Finally, we finished the meal with the Carrot Cake, and it was delicious. So yes, the Kilmorey Lodge checked all the boxes for us on a great place to stay while traveling.
