I first saw it at the Calgary Folk Festival but encountered it shortly after, at the World's Largest Truck in Sparwood, BC (on my way to Seattle). The family that runs the truck is super sweet (I assume they are a family as there were a couple kids working!) and the food is fresh and tasty. Tried the Tiger Prawn Roll and the Tuna Tacos. Both were yummy, but I am still trying to figure out what the taco "shell" was made of! It seemed like a crispy, baked wonton wrapper or something ... not sure! Points for creativity, but this was maybe the least appealing part of the meal, in the way of taste and texture. The portions are a little on the small side for the price, but this is what I've come to expect with most food trucks anyway, so I was happy to shell out the extra bucks for something so fresh and more unique than your average roadside fare! We were intrigue by the variety of hot dogs that Saucy Dogs offered (mainly, the exotic sausages like elk and bison meat) that we are not used to having in the Pacific Northwest. Saucy Dog offers different types of hot dogs from kid size hot dogs and vegetarian hot dogs to the vegetarian as well as the elk and bison hot dogs (all of their hot dogs range roughly from $5-$11ea). They also serve their hot dogs in cute, folded license plate trays, also accompanying the dogs with a pickle spear. We tried their elk and bison dogs...and we both liked the bison hot dogs a little more than elk, partly because the bison meat was a little juicer than the elk. Also the sauce on the bison dog was less overpowering the taste of the meat. If you have a chance, definitely check them out. Based on the time that we spent at the Farmers Market, they seemed to be quite popular among the crowd.

The dog was enormous and definitely very messy. Since there wasn't a table option I just found myself a spot on the grass and tried to devour this as nicely as I could. The food is served on bent license plates which I found to be really cool, nice and different. When you're done with your food you're asked to return them to the bus tub by the food truck. I had been looking at some other snacks I wanted to try but after this dog that was pretty much impossible. I hope to run into this truck again when I return for the summer.

We decided to try Island Thyme Food truck. First, the colors attracted me and the owner of the food truck was very welcoming and explained the menu for us to consider. Because it was hot, I wanted something light and refreshing so I ordered the rainbow bowl. Delicious! Quinoa at the bottom of the bowl, and topped with black beans, sliced purple cabbages, small pieces of sweet potatoes, salads, carrots, and sweet Thai chili sauce. Overall just a refreshing delicious bowl of yumminess. I love the sweet Thai chili sauce to give a sweet and tangy taste. Again, I'm a huge fan of food trucks and food stalls and this was a great food experience! Typically, if you don't eat what was offered and don't like it, that is taken off the bill, even if the chicken nuggets were taken off the bill since I didn't enjoy my meal, that would have been nice.
