This was our first time here and it was so much fun! BIG thing to know before you go, admission is CASH ONLY. But the concessions take cards. We saw the marvels & creator movie. This was such a fun date night! Staff were very helpful and nice. Please insure to read the website before coming and to bring cash. They have their rules listed right before you pay to insure everyone is able to enjoy the movie. They have two showings for the price of one. This is a classic Drive-In experience. Wonderful picture clarity and great sound. One price = two movies!! You can't beat that. It is truly a hidden gem only a little more than 30 minutes from Augusta, GA. It was amazing. I will say on downfall is that it is NOT a new/modern looking place. It's old and even the concession area looks old. However, have all the food choices you would like. The food line gets long although they try to have other windows open for food. Concessions are only on Main field and their are walking paths back to the main gate. Also, cars are everywhere so get there early to get a good spot. Nice place! Good way to change up date night and attend an outdoor movie. Tickets are 9 bucks a person which isn't bad considering you can watch two features. Concessions are slightly cheaper than that of an actual theater. The only downside is having to arrive 2 plus hours before to get in line and find a good spot on field . read more

So I went to the Monetta Drive In Theatre yesterday evening with my family we selected a pg13 movie which was a little more gruesome then what one would attest to being pg13. Us having the kids we decided to leave 20 minutes into screening including advertisements and requested a refund or even a partial refund for the $40 we spent not to mention the $35 we spent on concessions items for the movie. The so called owner at the entrance way told my spouse had we would of left 10 minutes into screen time he would've refunded but refused us because of it being a few more minutes past that. I went to talk to him I pleaded with him and asked for even just $10 back just anything in good faith and he refused saying he would have to take it out of his own pocket because we've already been admitted and they have rules to their providers of the movies (or whatever). Interesting that he mentioned he would've refunded but then told me a different story all together. This being said I would recommend/request that my fellow veterans and brother Masonic Lantern (masons) remember this as to considering buying a ticket to the "Big Mo". I decided to have a family fun night on a Friday night and I selected a bad movie unknowingly so I admit fault but even a $10 gesture or a ticket or admittance to another movie would've been appreciated. Had it been any other theater such as AMC or Regal they wouldn't have even made a stink about it and returned the money on first request as they have done before. I was very respectful and I didn't raise a fuss and instead asked him for mercy to which none was given. Again I understand this is what happens and I understand business doesn't make money by giving it away. The owner made money from the concessions alone not to mention the 40 from admittance. I don't think the owner of the MO is appreciative of being honorable to a family or to his local patrons. So I again ask all of my vast group of brethern to consider this before you take your family to this establishment. To the Big Mo I'd recommend for business practice you guys put atleast a sign out that says no refunds. read more

Get there 30 min to an hour early before the gates open if you want a great spot. There are 3 fields where a movie is being played and usually has a double feature movie. I usually go for the pizza at the concessions stand but make sure you your food as soon as you get there to avoid the long lines before the movie starts. read more

The Big Mo Drive In, is the only one in South Carolina.. Just be prepared to drive, but it depends on where you're coming from... Been coming here for the last few years, and it's always a treat! I think everyone should come and try this experience for yourself, it's a lot of fun... especially during the summer. And the drive in movies were very popular at one time!!! It's definitely kid friendly & dog friendly! There's three outdoor screens to choose from. It depends on what you want to see. Each screen shows two movies per screen... and it's worth the money when you can watch two movies for the price of one! And you can get tasty treats at the concession stand. The snack bar has everything from candy, pizza,sodas cotton candy, hot dogs, bbq, hamburgers, popcorn and the list is still going. And the prices are reasonable! I love going to the drive in! $9 for 2 movies...$5 for a large program.... hang out and watch a movie with a chill on your face, priceless. Opening weekend wasn't as crowded as I thought it was going to be...but it was a little chilly. The film quality on the screen is as good as the movie theater. Get there early to get a prime middle spot. Park close to a post and bring a radio if you don't want to worry about your car battery. The theater is about 40 minutes from my home, but seems so far away. I try to get there at least a couple times a year in the spring or fall. I'm too afraid of mosquitoes to go in the summer time...I'm looking forward to Labor Day weekend triple feature! read more

Our parents live in Augusta and we decided to visit The Big Mo. We had a great time. Many families stayed the whole evening, allowing the kids to play and eat before the movie, and the enjoying two movies on a hot summer night. We only stayed for the first movie, which was $10 for two of us, plus my dog. Everyone was very polite and friendly. Someone representing The Big Mo walked around and asked people to put down the tailgate or park in the back but everyone was courteous. The bugs were a nuisance but the consession stand sells bug repellant. Blue Cross had a truck giving away electric and hand fans. The cinnamon pecans were warm and soft and yummy. There is no experience that says summer quite like going to a drive-in. If you have never been to one, it is akin to a RV park or a KOA. The people are friendly, dogs are welcome, and everyone is just relaxing as time rolls by. But first, the journey. When you pull up Monetta, SC on your GPS you will probably wonder what else is in the city. Basically, not much. Come with a plenty of gas and whatever supplies you need. Now the drive there isn't bad at all. It is less than a hour and the countryside is refreshing. The website will tell you that if you're coming for a blockbuster (I came for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) that you should arrive 1-2 hours before showtime [9 pm for the first movie]. I concur. You will find a line of vehicles have formed on the shoulder of the road leading up to the entrance. Though gates up at 7 pm, they tend to open early when the line gets long. So yes, arrive early. There are three fields, each showing two movies. It typically pans out to be Action, Comedy, and Kids. But it varies, at the Drive-In doesn't get to decide on the movie pairings (fun fact). With the prices being $9 for an adult, for two movies, you can't get a better deal. And once you park, the fun begins. If kids are in your group, there is a playground at the main screen. You can park at another screen and walk over to it. The concessions stand and restrooms are located at that field as well. The food offerings are typical; burgers, nachos and cheese, candy. The line is always long so I recommend just bringing your own stuff. And the restrooms are tight on space so long-legged people, beware. Even if you're driving a car, I recommend finding a folding table that fits in your trunk to bring. That allows you to setup a place to eat, play cards, and setup a portable radio (more on that later). Smoking is allowed, but everyone tends to be courtesy and do it away from the crowd. No alcohol on the premises so keep the cooler kid friendly. And walk around. I have found fellow patrons to be super friendly as well as the Drive-In staff, who can be found walking through the parking areas. They are always willing to answer any questions and carry twine (in case you need to tie your hatch below roof level-as a courtesy to the people behind you). If you have a special announcement for your group (i.e. a birthday), tell them at the Concessions stand and they will announce it before the first movie begins. There is a 15 minutes intermission between the movies, but you are free to move around at any time. If you do have to leave during a movie, be sure to leave your main headlights off as a courtesy. *Insider's Tip -This is a big one. They only accept CASH for admission. So plan ahead and know how much that is going to be. And there is no refund. A movie can play in the rain so plan for that if the weather is sketchy. -I recommend finding a cheap rechargeable battery powered radio online. You can set this up on your table/tailgate and get a clear signal without having to leave a key in the ignition. If you plan to sit outside your vehicle, as I do, this keeps the sound near you and your group. -And if you do happen to drain the battery on your vehicle, you can go to the Concessions stand and give them a $1 for a battery jump. read more

How many of these places are left? Not many. Support them so they can continue in business. The concessions are the way the place makes ends meet. The line is long at the concession but its worth it knowing your helping out the cause. UPDATE-8-21-17 This place is still amazing. Still here, and still the best value you will find in seeing first run movies. Buy the pecans(my fav). If you dislike crowds, I recommend coming on Sunday if you can swing it. I grew up always coming here as a kid I was in town visiting and decided too go last night I was not so happy about it. Nothing like it used too be really no family's at all just teens getting it on in there cars. Nobody understood too turn there cars off for the people who sat outside. Every person I talked too was not polite by any means. Very disappointed! The food was over cooked and not good at all. I did not enjoy it whatsoever the first movie that played I didn't hear like at all the cars both beside me were running you couldn't hear a single thing. I finally got in the car in the second movie and could barely see the screen because of the jacked up truck blocking the whole screen. It's like nobody has common curtesy anymore. The first two rows at least should be more smaller cars it's ridiculous how there allowed too just block the entire screen. Biggest waist of my time and my 9 dollars. I tried to make the best of it and it never got better just worse. read more

Enjoyed our family outing here. We visited on a Saturday and the line was long way before the doors opened(doors open at 6:30)so If there's a popular movie out you should get there extra early. We visited the concession stand before the movie started and wait time was long. We purchased a full pizza and nachos and it was good. The movie showed great on the screen. $9 for two movies you can't beat this deal anywhere. You are able to bring your own food as well. Other than it gets dark out here in SC, we were able to at least see the first showing. It was great, and i will be back and better prepared. First time in South Carolina and first time going to a drive in theater. On the way there on a rainy cold night was pretty creepy for someone not from around here but once you reach it you're greeted by a nice guy in a booth under a sign giving you your tickets, he asks you which movie are you seeing and tells you which screen to drive to, I saw Spectre and The Perfect Guy on screen 2. After finding a spot in front of the screen I had to use the restroom which is directly behind you, there isn't a light outside of the door or lock and its not the cleanest or greatest bathroom ever but I didn't expect much from a old theater. After using the bathroom my girlfriend wanted a hotdog so we walked across screen 1 lot which is much nicer than screen 2 we reached the food stand and was greeted by two nice women, theres cheap priced food and candy and drinks and also bathrooms in there. After watching both movies I can say the radio station sound for the movies were perfect and also the picture quality and I would definitely come back again. read more

Great spot west of Columbia to get out and away from the city. You want that old feeling if taking your loved one or your kids out for a movie, this is the place to go. Grass fields are well sloped. Multiple concessions areas including special vendors coming in. There is a play area for the kids in the main field. Also multiple bathrooms but you might wait just a bit in between your two movies. Be prepared as the 2nd movie begins just minutes after the 1st movie ends. Stop at Leesville, grab some shealy's or KFC, and come for a great night to relax. Over the past couple of years, the Big Mo drive in has become one of our family favorites. It's not too far of a drive to Monetta, SC and won't break the bank even for a family of five. We usually try to get there early so we can choose the best spot for movie viewing. Make sure you bring lawn chairs to sit in and don't forget to bring a battery operated radio so you can hear the movie well. The staff at the Big Mo is very nice and helpful. The concessions line can get quite long so try to make your purchases early. Concessions has standard movie offerings - popcorn, soft drinks and candy; but make sure you don't miss out on some of their unique items like boiled peanuts, candied nuts and Sno-Cones. If you're a frequent visitor, make sure you purchase the souvenir drink cup which allows you to get $1.25 refills all season. read more

An amazing value and a great experience. Two movies for less than the price of one at a typical theatre, and you get to watch it outside with good food a comfortable atmosphere. The concessions prices are cheaper than a typical theatre and the field is well kept. The audio is broadcast over FM radio clearly and the picture is projected bright and sharp. There's really nothing negative to say about this business. If you want an authentic drive-in theatre experience, this is the place to go. Be sure to bring a portable am/fm radio to pick up the audio for the movie, unless you want to use a smartphone+headphones, or let your car run the whole time(don't do this). Try to arrive ~45 minutes early to get a good spot on busy weekend nights. My Husband and I went here 5/28/16, our first time at a drive in movie together! It was definitely a wonderful experience!!! We watched two movies for the price of one! $8 a person! We got cheeseburgers from the Firefighter food tent and they were absolutely delicious! We also got some popcorn from the main food stand!! Definitely have to bring cash! We watched Alice through the looking glass and Captain America! They have a playground for kids to play on as well! They Started playing the the movies at 8:45pm.
