Although we went here due to the previous reviews, we can not agree with them. We were sadly disappointed in the flavor of the ice cream and their peach cobbler. Known for their homemade ice cream, which we found tasteless and full of ice crystals. The market part was nice and had a wide verity of items. The personal were very helpful and friendly. We would recommend the Berry Patch for their market, but not the ice cream or peach cobbler. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here after getting lost hunting down an old Buick. Aye yay yay!! I was happy to stop and escape from the long road trip, and giant strawberries will always grab my attention!! This place is so adorable!! There's a little market filled with fresh produce and a strawberry hut serving homemade ice cream right next to it. I bought a pint of beautiful strawberries, peaches, blueberries and 2 avocados totaling $19.30. That was kinda pricey, but the produce is local and I like supporting farmers. We decided to get some of the ice cream too. I had a scoop of strawberry and a scoop of butter pecan. My boyfriend had the toasted chocolate almond. The ice cream is good, but not great. It reminded us both of an "ice milk". Lots of ice chunks in the ice cream. It was still a fun little experience. I'm happy we stopped! read more

A small family owned business with a strawberry farm down the street, they specialize in produce and YUMMY homemade ice cream. This was our third stop at the Berry Patch. The first time was out of sheer curiosity after seeing the giant strawberry from the highway. They not only have fresh produce year round, but they also have wonderful homemade ice cream, and the prices are great. Really a neat piece of Americana. Stop in if you have the chance. I love coming here for the homemade ice cream. My favorite is chocolate chip ice cream served in a fresh, crispy waffle cone. I like to wash my ice cream down with a cold RC Cola from a glass bottle. Sometimes I bring home fresh fruits and vegetables that are locally grown. They are well known for their peaches and strawberries, but they also have squash cucumbers, Tomatoes, apples, jams, jellies, pickles, Etc. There are picnic tables and rocking chairs for you to sit and relax while you eat your treats. There's also cornhole boards and a play area for kids, clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Stopped by because it looked interesting. The ice cream shop was a strawberry shaped, very cute. I had the pistachio ice cream on a waffle bowl and my husband had cookie dough on waffle cone. The texture of the pistachio ice cream was very interesting but good and my husband's cookie dough was yummie. Everything was homemade. The waffles were on point not to sweet just right. Due to the road construction project currently underway, the world's largest strawberry was loaded onto a trailer and relocated north to the 351 Cargo Road address in Ellerbe NC. I wanted to make sure you could find The Berry Patch because... OMG what great homemade ice cream! Seriously folks, it's as good an ice cream as I have ever enjoyed anywhere at any cost! Ice cream good enough to have driven an hour on a Sunday afternoon just to go get. True story, we've done this before. Also, The Berry Patch is a great rest stop going to or from Myrtle Beach on Highway 220, and a very slight detour from Highway 74 in Rockingham. Clean rest rooms, and then select some produce to take home if you wish. Then over to the huge berry for your ice cream. My personal faves here are: 1. Cookies & Cream 2. Peach 3. And -as boring as it may sound- Vanilla. Whatever flavor you may decide on, make sure to get it on a fresh made waffle cone. It's a very slight additional cost, but well worth it. One warning - read the menu board very carefully when deciding on your flavor. Only the flavors at the top are the homemade flavors. The additional flavors listed lower are just regular commercial Pet ice cream that can be bought anywhere. You will cheat yourself if you select one of those flavors. One other word of caution - while on Highway 220 in the vicinity of the Berry Patch, watch the speed limit very, very closely. The construction area there currently is undoubtedly one of the highest enforced areas by the State Highway Patrol anywhere in North Carolina. I never pass by here without having seen at least two troopers between the Berry Patch and Rockingham. Enjoy your ice cream, it's the greatest! read more

I saw the sign and checked yelp to see if I should stop...the reviews were correct. My daughter got a scoop of cherry (Maraschino) vanilla and one of pineapple. Both were very good. My son got a $4 peanut butter cup milk shake. It also was good (real milk shake with milk and hard scoop ice cream). I thought it was only proper to get a scoop of strawberry and I was right. It was the best. We did upgrade the double scoop to be in a waffle bowl and it was also fresh, crisp and good flavor. They stated that they have "homemade" flavors and then PET dairy (must be a local company) flavors. We stuck with homemade ones. They also have a farmers market. We bought homegrown sweet potatoes. They had dried beans, home grown strawberries that looked super good and red with a fresh scent. Also had some bulk candies and boiled peanuts. It was a nice place and I'm glad we stopped. The lady in front of us got homemade strawberry cobbler ala mode. That probably was a solid choice too. I should note it was Easter and they were open (and busy). read more

I was surprised by the very reasonable prices. $4 banana splits, and they are excellent!! Plus, fresh homegrown veggies and fruits are available for purchase. We were driving home from Myrtle Beach and we needed to stop. We saw signs for this place and it advertised a produce stand and ice cream. We were sold and decided to stop. It was directly off the exit and it had a really nice produce stand. We bought $19 worth of tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, squash and a bunch of other stuff. Really nice quality, selection, and prices. The ice cream stand was fantastic with hand dipped flavors. Banana splits were $3 as the prices were super cheap. Total for the three of us was $9 and not a tip cup could be found.
