Great food and beer. We were in Blaine, WA and wanted to grab lunch over the border somewhere. The car entry line back into the US was over 45 minutes so we decided to walk over the border. We parked just south of the US border station on the hill (12th st) and walked over. The Canadian Border agent suggested The Bennett. Within 10 minutes of parking we were at the restaurant. Nice atmosphere. The waitress was super friendly. She offered some games to my kids. The kids enjoyed their food. I had the open steak sandwich which tasted great! The locally brewed beer was one of the best beers I've had in months! Everything was well priced. I met the chef and he was very down to earth. Well worth a visit. I would make the trek across the border again to come here. read more

Second review as like I've said in the past I always go back to places months later to be sure they are consistent and this place didn't disappoint! Very very friendly bartender gal , very very friendly regulars and the food ... OUTSTANDING! I had the Bennett burger with onion rings to go and it was delicious!! We call this place, the Bennett by the Border. Thanks for developing a better system to keep a table available for a reservation because our 1st recent reservation was a wild debacle, as you were aware. Not great. It's our first time here. I thought brunch would be a good time to check it out. I ordered Eggs Benedict. How can you screw that up? The English muffin was not toasted but buttered. (?). The ham was cold as was the hollandaise. My poached egg however was perfect and the hash browns were good. Our server was inattentive. She didn't come back to ask how our food was or offer more coffee & water and we had to track her down for jelly and the bill. Overall not a great experience. We won't rush back. read more

I still really enjoy The Bennett. Whenever I'm at the border and am hungry I tend to stop in. The food is better than over at The Derby (no knocks to The Derby but the crowd is different thus the food is different), and Carl's Jr. is Carl's Jr. Today I had the Fish Tacos on special, they were very tasty. A reminder to those servers with a broken glass bottle up their butts, you are in the service industry, learn some basic customer service skills. Lose the attitude, it's the Bennett, a step up from a truck stop. It was packed, but not overwhelming. Nothing a well trained server couldn't handle. It was ridiculous. I've worked in the restaurant industry and there's no reason to be a stuck up bitch ass because you're feeling a bit overwhelmed. The service, non-existent. The food was good. We've waited for a long time for it, by the time the food got to us, it was great. But food tastes great when you're FREAKING STARVING! Never again. read more

Outstanding staff and the food is amazing. I would have taken a photo but I was in a dark corner lol. I only ordered potato skins and wasn't expecting much but it was a work of art. When we moved to the neighborhood a year ago from downtown I had never heard of the place. I was was surprised at how good the food was for a "pub" Most of the dishes I have tried are at par or above a good restaurant and definitely beats out any pub burger or wings you might be expecting (though the burgers are very good). Food and drinks are very reasonably priced and the servers are friendly. My wife (who doesn't do pubs) asks me to get take out from there about once a week. Which for me says the food is great. The chicken, ribs and pulled pork sandwich are very tasty. Add a side of their signature fries is recommended. The decor is clean and updated and is a great environment to catch the game and normally has a lot of fun prize contests going on during game night to keep you busy during the intermissions. read more

The food here is good. BUT... I was not impressed that we were overcharged for fries vs. what the price on the menu was listed at. Sure, it was only $2.00 but the optics of it are poor. The Bennett has become our local go to pub. Very pleased with the quality of food as well as the selection of beers and cocktails. It's not the old typical pub that has not idea what an Old Fashioned is or how to make one. Overall, a great place to sip a few beers and enjoy some good food. Oh, and the prices are reasonable as well. read more

The Good: Good atmosphere. Servers were great. Very welcoming and attentive. The Bad: I had the beef soup and it was absolutely disgusting. What I thought were chunks of parsnip were actually chunks of beef fat. There was also about 1/4 inch of oily fat floating on top. I took a few bites and that was it..it was inedible. C'mon guys, when you make this soup trim and throw out the fat and then skim the top of the soup. read more

The worst, blandest, most unpalatable Caesar Salad I've ever had the misfortune to be presented with. Pale Iceberg lettuce (using the core, no less), no parmesan, no garlic, thin dressing (?) that dripped off, no croutons. Send your salad prepper to salad making school to learn how to do it right or take it off the menu! Oh! And use Romaine lettuce; never nutritionless iceberg OR inedible, indigestible kale. read more

Had dinner there Sunday evening. Have been coming to this location for many years. Tonight we had the dried ribs and a Bennett burger. The Bennett the burger was less than spectacular, served on a soggy bun with dry melted mozzarella cheese. The waitress arrived after but we were half done with a plate with two bacon strips (they had forgotten to put bacon on my burger) On the other hand the ribs were fantastic and the house red wine was very acceptable.. If you want to great burger you have to go to "Original Joe's" much better Burger better choices on sides and a much better deal. read more

One goes to a pub or bar for drinks. Of course they are all changing to a higher end public house, but most are still the same but look a bit better inside. I may be totally wrong, but I think most of their profit comes from the booze, but with the drinking and driving taboo, food is important too. Most pubs have crazy food specials to bring in drinkers. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it is cheap, and sometimes it is not. I was with friends and I got the special - steak sandwich for $10. The steak was prepared as asked - medium - and it was a nice size. I was impressed. It came with a bunch of fries. However, when I looked around the table, the food seemed to be lacking in size, although most felt they were good tasting. The guy beside me had chicken and waffles. He added bacon and gravy. One normal piece of waffle and a few chicken pieces + 2 bacon and a big bowl of gravy. Think it was $16+ for that. Sort of felt guilty that mine was so much cheaper and better. Anyways, it wasn't bad, so do give this place a try. read more

went for dinner last night....the food was horrible and the waitress was overwhelmed as she was the only server.....we were a group of 14 and she couldn't serve us properly.......some of the food came out burnt, weird tasting sauces....steaks were asked for blue rare and were fully cooked had upgraded sides that weren't order...she was so busy with the rest of the patrons...some of us had to eat what was served as she never came around again to see how everything was tasting she helped a few but even than wasn't totally resolved. ......would maybe go back for drinks..but food no!!!.. read more
