Unlike last year, I had daughter and her 'wheels' to enable me to catch what I wanted, and then have some quick & easy transport home with the goods this time!! Vodka, Canadian whiskey, dark rum, scotch, and an a bottle of Argentinian 'malbec' wine being featured (I much-enjoy a decent malbec, and could not pass on catching this one for a try). I had to ask for a bag and at the end of the transaction and there of course was no have a nice day at the end. She definitely stayed the course at being absolutely useless at any type of customer service throughout the entire experience. Customer service isn't hard but the gal I unfortunately got stuck with had NO CONCEPT of what it meant. The manager of that store should be embarrassed to have someone like that dealing with people.

There is alot to know for a first timer like me so be patient with them and let them explain you the whole process of how to get the wine prepared. Basically , they would do everything for you but you got to select the end product and quantity you want. For me the guy went extra mile as i requested the facility tour and learnt about Wine making process from him. As you visit first time , you purchase the juice as per different price range and the quantity. Pay for it and you are off the hook for some weeks. I mean they will do the fermentation,degassed,filteration process for you. And when the finished product is ready , they would call you to come bottle your wine. Now its upto you to get your own bottles or they would provide you with them. Stickers and caps on your wine bottle could also be customized at this very facility. Imagine gifting your friends a bottle of wine with your company logo or just a cute thank you message. I would say it was cost effective too as i got 30 bottles in $253.00 after taxes which makes each bottle worth $8 with taxes. It took almost 2 months for my wine to be prepared so i was called during quarantine time to fill the bottles n i must say the sanitation measures were highly followed. In fact only two people were allowed in the facility at a time. They made sure that everything was sanitized. Infact the bottles are anyways washed and sanitized before being filled with wine. This BC Liquor Store is a typical BC Liquor Store and isn't anything special. In fact, it seems to…read morebe on the smaller side, but like all BC Liquor Stores, no matter how small, it has the basics. However I'm giving this store four stars, the extra star for convenience. This store is located on Broadway and Arbutus, and while there are a couple of other BC Liquor Stores along Broadway -- a much larger one just off of Broadway on Cambie and 8th, and one in Kingsgate Mall, this one is right in front of the 99 B-Line stop, so it's super convenient to hop off at Arbutus when I'm coming home from UBC, grab a bottle of wine, then hop back on the bus. And each time I've done this, another 99 was approaching the stop as I exited the store, so there was essentially no waiting time for another bus. So, if you're bussing down Broadway and in need of some alcohol, stop off at the Broadway and Arbutus location; it's incredibly convenient for transit users. In fact, I think it is THE most convenient location I have been to, as it's right at the stop -- no need to cross a street, walk through a parking lot, or push past hobos. Before I even finished my question the person who picked up my call, interrupted me, said that the question would have to be for the owner. One portion of my question was more technical, however, the other portion of my question was directly related to stock and availability in the store (this was the portion of the question I was able to finish asking). I was not offered a solution for getting in contact with "the owner" who "could answer my question". Quickly after that, the call was ended. Unfortunate, I needed a large amount of honey for a project I'm working on.

I finally get to try mead here. I've always been intrigued by it after years of reading about it in…read morestories set in old England. There are so many flavors here and they all sound so yummy. The tasting is great as you get to try the different types of mead. The tasting fee is waived when you buy a 375 ml or 750 ml bottle. 50 ml bottle is also available and just so cute and portable. So I learnt I prefer the sweeter mead like merry mead (original and usually out of stock), crabapple mead and plum mead (reminds me of Japanese choya). Other meads are the dry version and some can even taste like brandy or whiskey. There are also lots of honey here. It's a great place to get honey and honey based products and mead. You can also call to reserve mead or ask to be on waitlist for certain meads so that they can call you when it's ready. Then it won't be a wasted trip. Excellent service too. P.S you can bring back the empty bottles so that they can crush the glass and reuse it. And they will also return the $0.10 deposit. But they said to bring to other recycling depot if it's far out to drop it off at their shop.
