But what was really awful was the owner. I made the mistake of telling him that the cafe for the past few years has been a special place for me as I drive up after each of my cancer follow up appointments as a treat. He actually said to me, "I could tell you what is wrong with me, but NO ONE CARES". First off, I didn't tell him what was wrong with me, I just told him in one sentence what the place signified to me. (Did, anyway. Not anymore) Secondly, he no longer provides customers with a bathroom despite food, drinks and coffee being served and a full seated patio. So between the disappointing food, weak coffee, no more honey or brown sugar for coffee, his insistence on pouring cream for you, the lack of a bathroom and unforgivablely unkind words... Do yourself a favour and stop in Horseshoe Bay or drive on by to Squamish.

I already was planning on driving up north to Squamish so I knew I wanted to stop here since I remember getting a really good scone here a few years back. I made sure to download the offline Google map before heading out because I know service is spotty in the area. As the name states the place is a combined general (convenience) story and cafe. It has a parking lot right at front so parking is easy. I went with a caramel macchiato & the only scone that was left which was cheese scone. I'm pretty sure the place gets limited fresh backed goods and all the good ones sell out earlier in the morning. It was afternoon so pickings were limited & sadly my scone was a little stale. Luckily the caramel macchiato made up for it. It was a really good balance of balanced sweetness from the caramel & what tasted like med/dark toast coffee. Nice, hot & flavorful on a cold day. It was even more enjoyable because the counter top/bar seating faces the water outside. Aside from the usual cafe, they also sell local beer which you can even enjoy outside if you so please. The general store part contains many of usual goods you'd usually find. I don't have a photo but they had this spicy ketchup chip that was very good. Oh & if you do make this stop (& you should) be sure to check out the nearby "waterfall." It's to your right as you exit.the store, just up the little hill. It's worth the short walk. I plan to go to Whistler the next time I'm in Vancouver and I also plan to stop here once again. Cheers!

The venue has an indoor area as well as a large outdoor patio to the E of the building. The place is camping themed. Similar to Camp Brewing in Langley, but without the campsite. As of the time of writing, there are 7-8 beers available, all named after local lakes. Beers are a wee bit pricy compared to Vancouver, but maybe this is the Squamish premium. Special mention goes to the Brohm Lake pineapple ginger saison as well as the Lava Lake rose sour. On Saturdays they also have music bingo. Listen to a song and cross (dab) off a song. Off sales are too rich for my blood. $5 for a can as of the time of writing. Yikes. Overall a decent place to check out if one is in the area.

You can definitely spend many hours on their large farm and not get bored. There's a fun little self-guided tour that takes you throughout the farm to learn how the beer is made and all the extra little things they have, like a chicken coop! There's a ton of different areas to sit in and an orchard and greenhouse and berry farm, and even a bookstore. There is just so much to take in. They also have a food truck on site and other little snacks available. Even some local ice cream :) And of course, there's a large beer selection, but also a lot of cider options. We really enjoyed the few that we tried in our tasting flight and got a lot of beer to take home. Turns out they also have a flat discount if you buy enough beer, which the staff were kind enough to inform us about. We definitely had a great time!

Female cashier same one on on all visits, first two visits she was with another female and my husband and I were ignored, they both seemed annoyed at our questions regarding specific wines. Today only one female cashier, she smiled (had dimples actually) to the two male customers before us. When my daughter and I purchased our bottle of wine, she sneered, looked away, shoved the bottle and receipt at us. I will never go back, I am embarrassed that my daughter from Langley had to be treated this rudely.
