Appalling! Being told to leave for having a guide dog in our party! Didn't think there were that many places around that would discriminate against a blind person. Staff not only told us he wasn't to remain but then, as soon as we finished talking to them, turned the lights down and music up very high to try and spook the dog (which obviously didn't work as he was a guide dog). Disgraceful behaviour! This was 20 mins before they became a 'late night' venue, so very clearly trying to chase us out. The manager came and tried to pass it off by saying he was concerned the guide dog might get glass fragments in his paws, but how does he expect the dog deals with any other pub, or even the streets of any city where broken glass is a fact of life? Either way, the message was clear - our blind friend and his guide dog were not welcome. Needless to say we all left then and there, but it's shocking to see places that still blatantly ignore the laws against discrimination, not to mention common human decency. Establishments like these need to learn that discrimination is never acceptable. read more
