I was in town for an extended Holiday and being a cocktail nerd outside of Toronto I wanted to grab…read morea few ingredients. Some ango, some whiskey, maybe some vermouth. I was surprised to find out you can only buy liquor at state run stores called Liqour Control Board of Ontario or LCBO's for short. I went to the one in Waterdown only to find no ango and no Old Forrester, I was shocked because those are pretty standard ingredients and brands. I found out they have an App that allows for searching by location. LCBO doesn't carry ango, but they do carry a local company called Dillon's and they make an aromatic which should work fine and the same location has old Forrester. Drove over to the Dundurn location and parking sucks. It's a small location, but is packed with the good stuff. I guess Waterdown is too rural to stock, but Hamilton is much more densely populated. They have a healthy selection of beer, lots of local stuff, very euro styled. I found their mixers to be lacking so it seems like most people do basic cocktails at home. God a good deal on some rare beer, some rum's I can't find in the states and the other ingredients I found on the app. Customer Service was pretty good, except for the cashier with the bright colored hair, although I learned how much people use air miles here and they are really liberal with their paper bags. Prices were ok. I would definitely just come here because it's got that much better a selection despite being smaller. Use the LCBO app to find first for sure.

I found this on my GPS, it didn't take me to the right place, but as I kept driving to turn around,…read moreI ran into it. There was a very nice selection of liquor and wine, but most of it was much more expensive than in the US. I did get a bottle of Baileys birthday cake that I'd never seen before. They also had several Coors selzers that aren't available here. They had a fairly small selection of beer. I'll be back when I'm in Niagara Falls again.

This is a pretty nice liquor store in the area just away from Clifton Hill. It's like an ABC…read moreLiquor that we see throughout the US. Even though it's not right in the Clifton Hill area it is still packed with out of towners like me and locals. We actually had to wait for a parking spot because the lot is so full. Everywhere outside the lot you have to pay for parking, hence the traffic in the lot. The liquor prices aren't bad and they will accept USD, and credit. I'm not sure about debit, what I do know is they wouldn't accept my Discover card. Normally I use Amex but they're charging international rates, so the hell with them on this trip. Today I used cash and the clerk made the exchange and provided change in CA currency. I picked out a 200 ml bottle of Crown Royal which costly about 11 USD, not best, but still cheaper than what you're going to get at any restaurant here. I'll probably pop back in here one more time before we go to the NY side. I'm sure we will need another night out on the town, and that whiskey is unbelievably good on a cold night.
