They had exactly what I wanted and more. I bought local Ontario wine for myself as a souvenir of my Canada trip, and also gifted a couple bottles to my mother in law. The store is clean, well lit, very stocked, and has a big variety! I was surprised because I expected a bit of chaos since I visited on New Years Eve, but the store was organized and I found exactly what I needed quickly. I didn't have to wait in lines because there were several registers open. The cashiers were all very friendly and helpful. I came for the local wine, but I noticed they carry spirits, beer, and wines from many other countries as well. P.S. The red "Badass Baco" Frisky Beaver wine is very good!

I've done it! I've found the worst LCBO in Toronto!…read more The previous reviews give this place 3 stars just because it exists basically. I'm sorry, but basing a passing grade around their location when the organization is a monopoly and you literally can't go anywhere else? This unacceptable. This place is tiny, which makes it hard to navigate around people just to get in and shop or figure out where the lines start. And this place has hands down the worst beer selection I've ever seen at an LCBO. And despite being so tiny there were still an abundance of empty shelves? What the hell was going on in this place? I literally walked out and decided to go to the one up by Bathurst because the selection was that terrible.

The folks inside would not be able to accommodate all of us because they said the table that we were on was reserved which was not told to us prior to us ordering. This was a terrible day its a nightmare to me and my friends.

We had a big group of around 15 people and despite my friend emailing them in advance, they did not have her reservation noted. It was a good thing we came early, about 8pm, so there was still a few empty tables. They told us it's free cover and free coat check before 8:30pm but on flyers it says before 9:30. So it's best to double check before you decide to go. Coat check is $3 usually. Idk about cover. Also, since she booked a birthday reservation, apparently we were suppose to get cowboy hats or at least the birthday girl was? No one gave that to us, I had to go to coat check to ask for my friend. Our server was nice, she came out with a better cowgirl hat later on that night. However, she initially forgot to take orders for myself and another friend in the party. Kinda surprising how she could miss us, since we were sitting right next to the bday girl. It wasn't even that busy then. Warning: The menu on the website and what we saw once there was vastly different! The menu they have there is extremely limited compared to what's online. For food, I ordered the BBQ chicken wings 1 pound for $11. It was okay but I can get better at St.Louis with a beer! Don't even have honey garlic flavour! Only BBQ and Frank's. For drinks, we had 2 pitchers w/ the most popular drink being the Bulldog ($15). It was pretty good, you get your drink in a bucket! Main attraction for us was the mechanical bull. I tried that thing twice and walked away with a bruise on my leg. Lol. Still, it's quite fun. They require you to show ID to ride this, and sign a consent form. They might also take a quick surprise picture of you as you finish the process. No idea what happened to the photo they took of me. Lol. After you finish form process, you also get a wristlet with "I braved the bull" on it. This is so you don't have to show your ID again on any future attempts. Saves time. Also, by the bar..some of the stools had saddles on them, which was kinda cool. Overall, good if you want to go for the theme/novelty of it and grab a drink in a bucket. But for food and customer service, they need to step it up.

Add in a much larger variety to boot we are looking at a very decent outlet for LCBO. This is by no means a flagship location so the variety for vintage section is limited but the main stream brands have a decent selection. The entry door is now at main street level and one can just pop in and be on the way without ever entering the core building. The checkout are somewhat limited but I haven't been here at peak times to notice a more than normal delay at checkout. Kudos for making a change that's for the better.

Next the main course was the shop visit for a sampler & placing our wine order. Finally the dessert culminated when our icewine was ready! While the shop's Lakeshore location is tight from the outside, there's plenty of wine passion inside. Certainly don't sleep on this LCBO alternative. I came this weekend to pickup our holiday icewine batch, which we ordered 8 weeks earlier on the prior visit. You could say we were tempted by the golden nectar! In mythology Bacchus might be credited with viticulture & wine creation, but during the winter freeze is when this specialty wine comes to life. Icewine is pressed from frozen grapes resulting in small drips of this concentrated & uniquely sweet nectar with about 13% alcohol & 200g/L sugar content. Upon opening a bottle, we're quite ecstatic about how our Riesling icewine turned out. True to form, bold notes of honey, peach & sweet citrus were evident within each full body sip. If typical late harvest is 7/10, this is 10/10 on the dessert wine scale. While this isn't your award-winning Niagara icewine, the charming taste of this Winexpert Après batch pleasantly surprised us at its price point. Celina was knowledgeable & friendly, flexibly offering us a half batch as well as providing labels & bottles for our order. The deal was too sweet to pass up for 15 icewine bottles. DIY bottling option is available. Having previously tried our hand at bottling, we opted for the convenience of pickup. Glad the end-product received was literally a vintage vine. Thanks for giving us a Riesling to review!
