One of the first LCBOs where staff was extremely polite and very helpful. Clean. Organized. I'll be back!

I wasn't sure how I ended up here, but what I discovered inside was nothing short of wonderful…read more Glass Half Full - what a positive way to look at life (and your favourite beverage, be it coffee, wine or beer), this place does it all! Located just off of Winston Churchill (in the same plaza as a larger Pizza pizza), Glass half Full has been helping Oakville get their .. ahem, buzz on, al by themselves for 10 years. So what are they? No, not a bar, but a DIY wine and beer making business who really know their stuff. I got to talking to owner Denis P, and he was a wealth of knowledge about different varietals of Wine, different accessories, and beer! The wine has been their business for years but recently they've moved into helping customers brew their own beer right on sight. Different from other U-brew locations, they get the freshest malted barley in 6 different varieties from a local bavarian brewmaster (nothing preserved or chemically enhanced). You place an order which for a batch of 24 mini growlers (a mini growler is equivalent to 2 tall boys each) runs between $55-65 a batch. They even have a Gluten Free beer for those who love beer but doesn't love them in return. The wine making process takes a couple of months from initial order to bottling day, while the beer only takes 2 weeks between brew to bottle! I didn't put down an order this time but I wanted to see what they offered and their pricing. I might personally hold out for when they get a batch of seasonal grapes from South America in to make wine (only happens twice a year).

See my first review for more details, but I finally tried the brew I brought home (since it's…read moresupposed to sit for a least a week) and it comfortably bring this place up to a '5'. I tried the dunkel again - this time at home - and enjoyed it even more than the first tasting on location. It's likely because I had it refrigerated this time. It's all a matter of taste, and I know some aficionados prefer just cool (or even room temperature); however for me, I just loved it. I offered some to a friend who couldn't believe it was a u-brew. A wonderfully rich, full tasting beer with maple added. Completely sold on being a regular at this point and can't wait to try their other offerings. Also, if you don't read my original review, just take away that you're getting excellent beer (by any standard) at very low cost.
