I had a great experience here. Mitch did a terrific job on an initial beard cleanup/shaping and same thing with a haircut. Throughout the haircut he kept checking in to make sure it was going exactly how I wanted it which was very appreciated. Well, let's put it this I am local to this town and will support local businesses no matter what even if the service is overpriced or mediocre. I was loyal to this business as a customer, however, on a repeated basis I experienced subtle yet nasty attitude from the owner of the business, Mitch. Many times he rescheduled my appointments to his liking, with no regard or respect of my time, his loyal customer. Would make me wait while spending time chilling with other customers. If you screwed up or created inconvenience to your customer, please accommodate or at a minimum keep your attitude to yourself. No need to express your dissatisfaction if you day sucks. Congratulations, you successfully lost a loyal customer. With such attitude you set your business for bankruptcy. read more

See screenshot photos of messages I received from Joe.] Original review: I wrote a long review so here's the TLDR: Avoid this place at all costs....and if you do decide to get a cut, avoid Joe the barber. Here's the long review: I was lured by the great reviews but I ended up being left extremely disappointed. I received arguably the worst haircut imaginable, with my hair left all uneven and very short. Overall, it was one of those horrible looking bowl cuts that do nothing to compliment anyone. I was also given an uninspired fade that didnt help either, with the fade looking sloppy all around. Honestly, I wish I could just end the review by saying it was just a bad haircut. But nope. Instead, I'll continue and say it was the most uncomfortable haircut I've ever gotten. I've never had a barber have the weirdest habit of trimming down my hair, then stopping to pull my hair with his fingers. You can only grab and pull a small amount of hair with your fingers...so the barber literally spent at least 2 minutes making sure he grabbed and pulled every part of hair all over my scalp. And he would literally do this for the entire haircut. Trim hair. Stop. Grab and pull hair. Trim hair. Stop. Grab and pull hair. Trim hair. Stop. Grab and pull hair...you get the point. Considering my hair was already short before the haircut even started..he wasn't grabbing much hair to begin with...so again I'm clueless as to what this was all about. Oh yeah, and rather than trimming down my hair with actual scissors, the barber would instead just use hair clippers, which is fine...if you actually know how to do it properly. But no, his technique would be to slowly drop and lift the hair clipper multiple times on different parts of my head until all of the top of my hair was trimmed down. In all, don't be fooled by the recent trend of barbershops dressed in a forced hipster vintage facade, offering only overpriced services. I was convinced by both the reviews and the look of the establishment that I was going to receive an exceptional cut. Maybe it was just this barber...but how he got hired in the first place doesn't give me much faith that the rest are good. read more

I decided to give this place a try, since I needed a change from my old shop. Called at 5, got an appointment for 6:30 with Juan. He did an excellent job, took a lot of time, and talked a lot - all things I like in a barber shop. Juan cares about his craft, and I was glad I stopped in for a cut. The shop had a great vibe, lots of funky stuff on the walls in there, nice couches. Got lots of compliments today on my cut, which has never happened! I got a hair cut today at the Bearded Barber and, unfortunately, I was treated to the same combination of incompetence and rudeness described by Matt T in the review immediately below mine. I asked the barber-not the owner- to use the electric clippers at a setting of 2 or 3, but after one swipe it was clear that he was cutting my hair way closer than that. When I asked him what setting he was using he said zero and it was too late to do anything about it. To make matters worse, he took a 10 minute bathroom break in the middle of the haircut, so I had to look at my half-shaven head until he returned. When he finished I looked like Mr. Clean. I am 68 and I doubt my hair has been this short since the day I was born. I mistakenly thought my nightmare was over, but things got worse when I settled up. To his credit, the barber was very apologetic and offered to comp me. I refused his offer because I didn't want him to think I was trying to weasel out of paying. I even tipped him. But when I gave him my credit card he asked me for my contact information and I objected. At that point, the owner stepped in to defend the barber saying that they take the information for future appointments. I must have rolled my eyes because there is never going to be a future appointment in light of my experience, but that only teed off the owner even further. He told me that nobody rolls his eyes at him in his place-no joke-and instructed me in a threatening tone to stop talking. Given that he is twice my size and half my age, I cut bait and left. Btw, this the first Yelp review I have ever written and I am generally skeptical about negative reviews based on petty disagreements, but my experience was so bad (and bizarre) that I felt compelled to address it in writing. read more

After an extensive search for a place that trims beards and does haircuts, The Bearded Barber made the cut. After reading all positive reviews, I made my 20-25 minute drive. I got there early around 9:45am. Walk-ins are allowed but with the four barbers there, no one was available until noon. I booked with Mike for noon. The place had an aftershave but welcoming smell. There were mini donuts, munchkins and cookies in front of the waiting area. A nice touch. So, I arrived early at 12:40 and there was some confusion about my appt. Mike took me and we spoke what I wanted and what he suggested. I went with his recommendations, as he was the expert. I read in the reviews that the barbers are very talkative. Not so with Mike. I attempted a few times to jump start a conversation but they failed. Everything was going okay time wise and with the service until his next appt. or friend arrived. Mike decided to pay more attention to him and talk to him, than he did of me. He stopped numerous times. Very unprofessional. This is why the review is 3 stars. If it wasn't for this, it would've been 4-5 stars. Also, both Mitch and Ryan gave their clients cards when they left. Mike gave me nothing. The beard/mustache trim is nice but it wasn't worth the aggravation. I will be back, but not with Mike. I will try Ryan or Mitch next time. Update: I called Mitch, the owner, and told him what happened. He apologized a hundred times, thanked me for calling and told me my next cut/trim was on the house and to pick up a gift certificate. When I arrived, he was outside and apologized again and went in to get my gift certificate. He even gave me his card with contact info. This update and increase in stars, was my decision and not influenced by Mitch. Just wanted everyone to know he takes his business seriously and don't hesitate to patronize them. Needed the mane controlled as a noob beard grower. Walked in, empty chair available. Bang. Sat down. Showed a pic off my phone to Mike and we were off to the races. Weed whacker on the sides and back, careful trim on top. Took his advice on my face scruff and glad I did. It's a little shorter than I would like but given how messy it was before, MUCH improved. Now, mission Leonidas's face scruff is underway with a proper custodian to keep it in check. No razor burn (V's barber, I'm looking at you) and the best compliment I can give this shop: comfortable manly environment (without any talk of tic tacs or grabbing juvenile cats anywhere), AND they made me look less like a hippie scruff bucket and more like the Adonis my wife married (yes. My new do is, not only wife-tolerant... But approved!) Had dinner and I was the only bearded Asian man amongst bare chinned boys. Lol. Near my house, very affordable. Can't ask for more. I went in looking at the good reviews but I have been disappointed almost every time. My hair wasn't cut by the owner but one of the other barbers. One time he had another appointment right after mine so he rushed through my hair cut. When I asked him to keep going he said "I've already taken out a lot". Another time his scissor wasn't right and it kept pulling on my hair. I gave them 3 chances but they screwed it up every time. I'm glad there're more options in town now. Unfortunately, as much as I want to support locally, they charged my credit card $1 for a hold and then a $30 fee. We were not told we would be charged a cancellation fee when we called to book an appointment nor when we called to cancel. When we originally booked the appointment they asked us for a card number to hold our spot but when we called to cancel, they did not mention anything about charging the card. After, when we called to ask about the $30 charge and weather or not we can reschedule, they told they put the same card or another card on hold again at yet another charge. There was no apology, there was no understanding of the fact that the receptionist failed to inform clientele of the cancellation fee on both occasions. Truly disappointing. read more

The Rudest Barber. I have to say Mitch was by far the rudest person I've ever encountered while taking myself or any of my family for haircuts. He did absolutely nothing the way we asked and completely jacked my teen's hair. Honestly, we should have left after he made the first snip, because when I asked him to confirm the style and length was just a trim he barked at me, made a snarky comment and just kept cutting it all off. At that point it was too late. We both asked that the hair be left long over the ears and now he has a pseudo mess of a mullet. If you don't have the ability or training to cut a certain style when someone comes in, just tell them you don't know how to do those cuts. Don't wreck a clients hair and be rude the entire time in the process. read more

He was on schedule, polite, listened to what I wanted and had plenty of good beard advice. The best haircut I've ever had. They certainly know beards! I drive 45 minutes from my house to come to their barbershop because their quality is unlike any other place I've been to. They shaped up my beard perfectly and gave me the haircut I wanted, exactly as I described. I've had Mike each time I go but have heard great things about every barber they have working. While I was getting my haircut, the barber next to me was cutting the hair of a toddler who was making a fuss and screaming. He stayed calm and patient with the parents and managed to cut the kid's hair. To me, that speaks volumes of the character of those working here. Great people, prices and haircuts. TBB is officially my new spot. Got a gift card on Christmas from my brother who started going here because his beard was getting out of control. Going in, I wasn't happy with the last haircut I had gotten, and I told the owner Mitch about it. He went to work and totally fixed the style into exactly what I was looking for. You can tell Mitch and his barbers take pride in their work and really try to hone their craft, they're not just going through the motions and trying to make a buck. Since I started going to TBB I've gotten many more compliments on my hair. Side note: the soundtrack is always great. Went in once and heard some Metallica and Iron Maiden, next time it was some sweet 80s one-hit wonders. Atmosphere of this place puts you at ease. Great spot to get a haircut and a shave. read more

I apologize in an effort to move the conversation forward. Tries to tell me that I am "harassing his business." Tells me how he was ready to offer me a $100 gift certificate, but then undermined my initial concern by trying to tell me that "you gave the guy a $10 tip." I tell Mitch that yes, I did tip, because I work in a tip-based industry and I understand the need. His response is to say "Where? I doubt that." Keep digging this hole for yourself, my friend] Went in with a substantial beard, asked to have the sides tapered and the chin left long after a minimal scissor-cut. Walked away with about just over stubble the whole way around. Absolutely ruined my aesthetic. Barber then asked if the chin was "short enough," to which he was reminded that I asked to have the chin left long and that he really screwed me. His only response was to point down to a clump of hair on the apron and tell me that "there's some hair there for you." Please understand, this was a healthy beard. A well maintained, albeit overgrown beard. No split or dead ends, regularly conditioned and maintenanced. I now have about 3-5 weeks worth of growth, having not asked for my beard to be within this length in over 5 years. I'm devastated. Joe ruined me. As a veteran of the service industry, I recognize that active listening is critical to achieve a positive interaction with your customer. I was given another man's haircut. And the icing on top of this debacle was that the receptionist had the audacity to call me back and ask to move my time up by 10 minutes because there was a 1PM appointment and that 40 minutes might be the appropriate amount of time for this specific cut. Yesterday I took my son for a haircut and it was an amazing experience for him. He came out as transgender and has never gone to a barbershop before. He had been getting his haircut from a friend of his stepmother's who had only consented to do female pixie cuts on him thus far. Yes it was short hair and it looked ok but this haircut he received yesterday was the first "boy" haircut he received. The barber did a fantastic job and gave him some tips on how to style it and at the end he told my son "you're a brand new man." I have never seen my son smile as big as he did in that moment. i've never been more disappointed with a haircut in my life. Got from the guy named Joe. went in for a trim for my beard and hair. my hair was in my eyes and just wanted it to be at my eyebrows and beard be shaped. just a trim. i came out with almost no beard and now my hair comes to not even half way to my eyebrows. it's very uneasy and sloppy. but what ruined it for me he tried putting blame on both of us for communicating but it was very clear on what i wanted. and then had the audacity to say "we just won't charge for the beard sorry" what about the hair that will take 4+ months to grow back to the length you were suppose to do. anyways final piece DO NOT let the hipster social media looking pics on yelp. heavily disappointed. read more

These guys are great...shop has a "barbershop" feel as opposed to salon, and while I may have had better haircuts I've never had a better all around experience. Staff are all friendly, Nigel is the man. LOVE being able to go someplace to get my beard cleaned up, and looking forward to getting a hot-steam shave when I'm ready to take it off altogether. What a fantastic place, its super clean they have a computerized scheduling system that sends you a text message the day before your appointment to remind you of your cut. The barbers Mitch (the owner) Juan and Mike are the best in the business with years of experience. The guys are all 30+ so you're not getting a kid messing up look and it is a professional environment. Decided to try out The Bearded Barber after reading all the great reviews on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. Made an appointment with Mitch, the owner, at 10am for a full haircut, beard trim, and shave. I had never received a professional shave before, so I thought I would give it a try. Mitch did a great job asking me plenty questions to know exactly what I wanted, and also provided some very good suggestions which I appreciated. He gave me a great haircut then proceeded with the hot towel shave, which was very nice. I now know what everyone means when they say "you can't beat a professional shave!". Mitch was not rushing AT ALL, which means a lot as most barbers try to get you in and out as quick as possible to get more clients in. He was extremely professional and did a fantastic job; definitely exceeded my expectations. If you have never had a hot towel shave, I would say to give this place a try at least once to experience it.. Kristen is a miracle worker. I had half of my head shaved about 6 months ago with a nightmare of a hairline at a different shop. She gave me a completely new hairline (the one i wanted in the first place) and made it look as natural as possible. Incredible customer service as well. I'm sick and super paranoid about my hair thinning, and potentially falling out. Kristin treated me with compassion. Idk how she did it, but I left feeling beautiful again. Also, I never thought my lil guy would jump in a chair and ask for a hair cut. He typically screams and cries and we have to try EVERYTHING to not have to restrain him.
