They were very rude and arrogant. I tried to make an appointment and the line was busy so we did a walk in and they said that was fine take a number. They took everyone ahead of us, didn't even talk to us and we sat there for an hour and 1/2. Was very skeptical until I walked in and was greeted by everyone, instantly included in the old school barber shop conversation. Felt right at home! Also, had the best haircut I've had in years!!! I'd I had to choose one word to describe this place, "AMAZING!" This is and old fashion barbershop with a new age twist. It brought back memories of going to the barbershop with my Pawpaw as a child and continued going when I was a grown man after serving in the military. Old fashioned barbers are a dying breed and to find a great group of guys that take pride in their work and carry on an old tradition. This is awesome. Beau did a fantastic job on my hair and goatee. He takes pride in his work and ensures the job is done right and the way you want it. Watching Matt and Tommy, you can tell the do the same as well. Other customers coming in and waiting and talking politics, weather, fishing and sports just brings out the old-time atmosphere in this place. Excellent barber shop! I am working out of town and with all the hustle and bustle, I have gone a bit too long without a good haircut. Part of the reason is I've been out of town and I am really partial to my barber back home in Florida. I use a real barber with old time skills and new time style. The bearded barber fit those qualities. The shop was quaint but roomy. The conversation was entertaining as I waited. Every chair was full but the wait was not long. Zack cleaned me up and I would not hesitate to recommend him or Matt for a great haircut or beard trim. These guys are on the top of their game. The also had my favorite hair product 1821. Only the finest barber shops keep good products like 1821 and Reuzel. If your in the area and in need of an earl lift or trim, do yourself a favor and make the trip to the Bearded Barber, you wont be dissapointed. read more

So I've been wanting to grow my hair out. I was doing well on my journey, but needed a haircut to keep me looking fresh. After some research, I found the Bearded Barber. I'm always a little hesitant with new barbers to avoid getting a bad cut, but this place made me think I'd have nothing to worry about, so I tried them out. I signed in on the chalkboard and took a seat. Maybe a 10-15 minute wait, no big deal. When it was my turn, I kindly explained I was growing it out, I just wanted a trim on top and clean up the sides and back. He starts his cut and right away I knew something was amiss. Long story short, he cuts about 2-3 inches off the top and barely touches the sides, basically giving me a bowl cut only missing putting an actual bowl on my head. Although I'm furious, I politely explain that I want the sides shorter than the top, meaning around the ears and down the neck. He proceeds to trim the portion of hair between the top and sides, making the top look even shorter. At this point I'm like Dude, the sides, grabbing the hair with my fingers. So finally he cuts the sides but leaves the back, giving me a mullet. Again, I explain to him I want the back cut too. I've never had a worse haircut and I can't wrap my mind around why this guy did this to me. In hindsight, he was the only guy in there who looks like he can't cut hair, I'm not sure why he's working there. If you visit you'll know who I'm talking about unless he gets fired soon. (Short, round, red head dude). The place seems like a nice barber shop, so what happened to me was tragic. I'll be going somewhere else tomorrow to get it shaped up. read more

I've been several times and only once have gotten the cut I asked for. The barbers are more worried about talking politics and conspiracies than cutting hair. Jacob does a great job though. And if you don't make an appointment, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes. read more

Went there for the first time today and was a little nervous. I had not had a shave in over 10 months. Thank wanted to have my beard trimmed down a bit. From the moment you walk in, it's all manhood and testosterone. Guys have guy talk and cutting up. I ended up sitting in Beau's chair. He was very professional and did a great job shaping my beard up. The price was super affordable and the work was quality. This place is what I envisioned the old barber shops back in the 50's used to be like. The place is filled with Americana decor along with some local sports memorabilia. The staff is dressed in the old time barber designed shirts. Matt is the owner and I would say he is one the best barbers in Hammond. He also has a great deal for veterans and first responders. The downside of this place would be the wait. However, if you're a male and enjoy good conversation along with an awesome hair cut you should check this place out. Awesome spot! Dropped in on a Friday afternoon for a cut and had a great experience. The shop is comfortable, welcoming, and fun. Banter between the customers and the barbers was a load of laughs and everyone seemed to like working there. The place looks great; they did a fine job decorating. Visiting from out of town so never been here before. My hair is a little tricky to cut right b/c the sides will stick out if cut too short. I explained it and my hair was cut perfectly. Price is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the cut. Love the chalkboard, which they use religiously. I arrived at 12:45 today (a Saturday) and the doors were locked. The hours say open until 2 and there were customers inside. I was there to pick up hair products, etc for my son as Christmas gifts. I understood they sell it but I was waved off with a gesture to go away. They mustn't need the business. read more
