At the time, I didn't realize they closed at 1. Two gentlemen were cutting hair and it was obvious that one of them wasn't happy about the three people that came in after us. He kept telling them that there were a lot of people in front of them and it would take a while. Everyone chose to stay. As the unhappy gentleman walked to the door to lock it, he looked at my husband and I and asked who was getting a haircut. My husband answered that he and my little boy were. The man said, "I don't do little kids' hair. Ms. Pam does the little kids' hair. Maybe he'll do it." The other man asked if my son (who was sitting on my lap quietly) would be good during the haircut. I answered that we'd never had a problem with haircuts before. And the first guy rudely said, "Yeah, we don't want to do headlock haircuts." We decided to leave after that. So disappointing. I found out that Ms. Pam does haircuts by appointment only on Wednesdays. If you have a kiddo, you should try them then. I've made an appointment for my son with a different salon.

Decided to try a little barber around the corner! My son styles his hair pushed back with the back being short and front being long. He told barber to cut the back and trim an inch to an inch and a half off the front. The barber cut almost 3 inches off the front. I sat blown away at how much he cut, but said nothing. My son's face said it all. I was very proud of him for keeping quiet and being respectful. When the barber "finished", he picked up the remaining front (which was one length, blunt cut sitting on my son's eyebrows at this point) and asked if my son wanted MORE off. ME: No! You cut too much off already. BARBER: (quite snarkily) I did what he told me. ME: No you didn't. He told you to cut an inch to an inch and a half off the front. You cut 2 1/2 - 3. BARBER: I NEEDED to get it OUT OF HIS EYES. ME: You cut the entire "STYLE" of his hair out. It's now a blunt cut. You didn't do what he asked. BARBER: That's NO style. I've been cutting hair for years. I know what I'm doing. WHO wears their hair that long? It needed to get out of his eyes. That was a woman's hair cut. ME: Are you serious? He doesn't wear his hair in his eyes, he wears it pushed back. Now I know why people bring their sons to stylist not barbers. BARBER: Just get up and leave. ME: Absolutely! No problem. Seriously? Are you kidding me? At first I thought it might have been a misunderstanding. That's happened before. After the very unprofessional tone and attitude it was clear to myself and my son that the barber decided this young kid's hair was not a style that he approves of and took it upon himself to CUT IT HOWEVER HE PLEASED! Small, three chairs, good conversation. Hot shaving cream and a straight razor for the back of your neck. Great atmosphere. It also has a good location in Hammond across from Albertson's. Over the years, five different people have cut my hair here. There are three regulars right now, Marion, Ryan, and Matt. They're all great, no waiting for your favorite, feel confident with any of them. The owner, Andy, did his work on me a few times before he retired and of course did a perfect job. A couple years ago I walked in and was surprised to see a new face. As this new guy is cutting my hair, he says his name is Zack and he's not a barber. He works in construction, and just does this on the side. Granted, that made me nervous, but Zack was as good as any of them. He ended up cutting my hair 2-3 times, each time flawless. My point is that a barber shop is only as strong as its weakest link, since I'm not the type to tell someone "No I'm waiting for the other guy", and this shop has no weak links. My brother-in-law has been going here for years and always has good haircuts, and so does another friend of mine. Frosch's was highly recommended to me by both of them. Well, my haircut sucked. One side was good, the top of the other side suddenly got a lot shorter, then longer again, like a trench. On the side it had a bunch of points, I would call it jagged. Just totally uneven. I had to get a friend, who does not cut hair, to fix it for me to make it look decent. My friend mentioned that my head is a little bumpy and maybe that's why it was bad, but my old barbershop never had a problem. I would be giving one star but I honestly believe it was a fluke. I heard great things from non-internet sources and saw the work myself over the years. Unfortunately, 0/1 is 0% and I'm not going to take any more chances.
