It's new, and it's the only B&B in Berea, with the quaint downtown square right around the corner. The owners are quick to respond to any problems, the location is fantastic, the beds are good. Even the *towels* here are top-notch. When I checked to make sure I didn't have down pillows, I found brand new allergy shield pillow covers on high-quality synthetic pillows. When you stay in a B&B in an old Victorian or heritage home, usually that means dealing with a tiny bathroom, undersized shower, and so on; the beautiful old home that houses Riverside Gables was completely renovated in fall 2012, with nice big showers, new fixtures, and new floors. Guests even have a sitting room, with a kitchenette and fridge, Keurig coffee machine, spare dishes, and (my favorite) electric kettle and teapots for tea. Glass bottles of water are kept chilled for the use of the guests, and it was great to have that bottle of water to take to my room (and also not feel like I was wasting a plastic bottle just to have something cold to drink.) There's also a separate back door for guests. Breakfast has been excellent: fruit salad to start, juice, a beautiful omelette the first time I stayed and a Belgian waffle this morning. The owners have a beautiful Golden Retriever, but he is not allowed in the B&B portion of the house. Catherine is lovely to talk to, knowledgeable about the area, and responsive to the needs and preferences of her guests. If business brings me back to the area, I will *definitely* put this place at the top of my list.

Second best is that they've got both a Tesla wall charger and a J1772 charger for those with electric cars, and the best thing is that you have the delightful Rocky River Valley across the street for driving and recreation.

We've even stayed there for a few of my reunions as it is far comfier than a dorm room, particularly in the eyes of my spouse who is a Berkeley grad and not nostalgic about Oberlin dorm life. I appreciate the geothermal rooms as it is the first in the nation to accomplish this. We were a little warm overnight but I slept very well- comfy bed and pillows. Upon arrival in the evening, we appreciated the direct access to the room. However, multiple issues arose that significantly impacted our stay. We were unable to get the fireplace to turn on despite following the provided instructions. After contacting the host, we were given the same instructions again, and it took approximately 20 minutes before the fireplace finally turned on. Shortly after, the refrigerator began making a loud, repetitive knocking noise. We contacted the host again to report this issue and asked that it be addressed when checking on the fireplace. The unit above us was occupied, and we experienced excessive noise throughout the night, including loud stomping that made it difficult to sleep. When we contacted the host the following morning to ask whether the upstairs unit would also be occupied for our second night, her immediate response was that we could "just check out." This was not a reasonable or helpful solution, especially considering we had paid for a two-night stay. We expected the host to communicate with the upstairs guests and ask them to be mindful of the guests below. Additional concerns included water pressure issues. While the bathtub is visually appealing, after running the water for approximately 20 minutes, it barely filled, making it unusable. Flooring throughout the unit is uneven, with large gaps between planks partially covered by rugs, creating both comfort and safety concerns. While snacks and drinks were provided, one of the items. a mini loaf had visible mold and was not safe for consumption. Due to the combination of unresolved maintenance issues, excessive noise, and poor communication from the host, our stay did not meet reasonable expectations for the price paid.

Melt my heart When we entered the house we were told there are two separate rooms on the second floor. This house does not have an elevator so you have to carry up your luggage. The first floor is a common area to enjoy. The decor is clean, classic, and suitable for the home. The home smelled fresh, the areas were wiped down and organized. We even had breakfast waiting for us in the fridge and home made cookies on the counter. Up to the second floor and into our room to the left we were greeted with a spacious king bed with a working fire, seating area, and best of all, jacuzzi tub. Stand up shower but the tub is where it's at. Doug walked us through all the features of the TV, remote controls, jacuzzi buttons, and history of how this once barn became a home. By the time he left we felt like family. Wish we found this earlier so we could have stayed longer. Before he gave us the keys and retired for the evening we were given restaurant suggestions in walking distance along with a coupon good to use at a few of them if interested. No pressure to eat at any one of them in particular. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place in Cleveland Ohio that is perfect for you, you and your partner, or family.

My son and I needed to arrive at Oberlin College by 11:00 Monday, so staying overnight in nearby Lorain, OH at this beautiful hotel was the perfect solution. The hotel's restaurant is always closed Sunday-Monday, so we didn't get to try that, but we were able to find take-out from a restaurant in Amherst, and eat in our room. We were really surprised to learn that only two families were staying at the hotel the night we stayed! We got a great deal on Expedia for a queen double room. About $112 in total, and parking was free. Free Wifi. Super clean facility. Beds were so comfortable and the shower was awesome. I loved all the cute vintage features, like the mail shoot by the elevator. No swimming inpool yet, due to COVID of course, but perhaps we will enjoy a swim on our next visit. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting Oberlin, which is about a 25 minute drive from Lorain. Thank you to Sabrina and the other hotel staff for being so welcoming and for providing my son and I with such a wonderful and relaxing stay! Updated: we stayed here for Oberlin College graduation weekend and had a solid stay although it was rowdier at night during the weekend when a wedding was happening. Room was clean, beds were ok. Free parking. Limited staff around, and no room cleaning during our stay, but when we called for room towels we received them. Pool was nice but the area around the pool, bathroom, sauna (closed) and exercise room could use some attention and updating.
