I'm a senior and generally nervous. Daniel M at Farmer's on Durango made me comfortable and was very patient as he explained a number of things that I wasn't aware of. We've been with AMS Insurance for many years, but unfortunately, the customer service has…read morenoticeably declined over time. It's disappointing to see the difference compared to how things used to be. Another concern is that AMS doesn't check or offer quotes from all available insurance providers, which limits your ability to find the most cost-effective coverage. You're not necessarily getting the best value. I recommend checking other companies first--such as Navy Federal, GEICO, USAA (if you're military), and others that AMS may not work with. Be sure to ask which providers they represent and which they don't, so you can make a more informed decision. Personally, I recently switched and ended up saving more than half on my monthly premiums--while also getting better coverage than I had through AMS. Another downside is the process for making policy or account changes. While claims can typically be handled directly with the insurer, all other changes must go through AMS. This adds unnecessary hassle, especially since their current customer service is slower and less responsive. You can't make quick updates yourself, which can be frustrating. Before COVID, I would have recommended AMS without hesitation. But since much of their team now seems to work remotely, the service just isn't what it used to be--and that's unfortunate. I'm grateful to have found a new insurance provider that offers better rates and allows me to manage my policy directly and conveniently.

The only time I ever heard from this agent was when I called to complain about the increase. In December I need a new certificate of insurance sent to my property management company. I sent several email requests to my agent asked them to mail them a certificate. They never sent them anything. I finally had to email my property management company a full copy of the policy because that was all I had. I got a quote from State Farm for auto/renters and saved over $40 a month. ($480+ a year) and they don't charge for ACH payments and they pull the policy payments as one charge instead of separate charges. I went onto Allstate "My Account" and removed the Autopay from my policies. Got a popup notice that it was removed and to make a payment by 09/21/20 to avoid cancellation. Allstate pulled the payment anyway and when I called my agent, she would do nothing to try to contact corporate to fix the problem. The ACH withdrawals caused two overdraft fees totaling $75.00. When the agent refused to help me because I was no longer her client, I called the corporate client resolution department. The Allstate CSR said that I had to have an email confirmation of me removing the AutoPay. There was nothing on the website that stated that I'd receive an email confirmation. Why would I know that it said to avoid cancelation to make a payment by 09/21/2020? If anything I should have received a cancellation notice. Allstate is the worst and once you decide to leave, you get a big fat FU from them!
