I'd give them more than 3 stars if it wasn't for some quirks along the way... 1. A rented U-Haul truck is not the sign of a licensed PA mover (see PUC's website) https://www.puc.pa.gov/ 2. All legit movers must have PA license and insurance, if they don't have it, don't use them (they are called "gypsy movers") 3. Don't use anyone who demands money upfront... Another warning flag. Labor Muscles required me to pay 50% down upfront, then charged me the other 50% PLUS $900 extra I didn't agree to! Rather than endure a legal issue we just paid Steve Pentz, the owner... and walked away.

I explained that we were moving my son from a bi-level house to a second floor apartment and I am not physically fit enough to really be of any assistance with the heavy furniture that he has. He advised that he would be available for 8 or 9 AM and gave me a verbal proposal for 3 movers, asked for the old address and the new address and an email address. He said he would said an invoice and I would need to give a 50% deposit and the rest would be payable on moving day. No problem, except by Thursday I had never received the invoice. I reached out and he explained that I hadn't provided my email address, but he would send it as soon as I did. My mistake, and I sent it right away. I also asked him for pricing to include a truck, which he verbally provided. I never did get the invoice, so I texted him and advised that at this late date, and with his agreement, I would just pay cash on moving day, which he agreed too. 6AM on moving day I got a text from Steve asking for confirmation that we were still on. I advised that we were. He explained that he was down a truck and with that he would be down a mover, so they would be able to deal with that, but he was dropping his charge accordingly, which I appreciated. 8:30-8:45 rolls around and still no movers. I reach out to Steve and he advises that he won't be there until 10 AM, as he had to get the truck. I accepted this change, but advised that doing the move later would just be hotter (it was unusually hot and humid this past Saturday). He understood, but since I was intent on sticking to the 3 hour window, he did not feel it was going to be a real issue. Then at 8:54 I got a call from Steve cancelling all together as now his second truck broke down. I'm not sure why he wouldn't chose to rent a Uhaul in order to keep his scheduled work, in lieu of cancelling last minute on a customer. I personally find it hard to believe that a mover had trouble with two (2) separate moving trucks in their fleet, and am inclined to think that he decided he didn't want to be bothered. I chose Labor Muscles because of their numerous 5 star reviews, but I am sorry that I did. They were not dependable for me. This could have been an anomoly for this business, but if you absolutely need to know you have a mover that will show, you should keep looking. Luckily, my son had a friend come in from New Jersey (3 hours away) and they were able to get the heavy furniture moved.

Generated at most 1-2 gallons of debris during the cleaning but claimed it was illegal for him to take it and dispose of it. Local PA DEP office said there is no special regulation for oil fired residential chimney buildup material. The worst was he forgot to reinstall one of the chimney pipe support straps. Called him within one hour of leaving and notified him by phone message but he could not be bothered to call back or return. Luckily, owner noticed it and reinstalled himself.

Started an hour after agreed upon time due to employee having legal trouble. He did not have basic mover items like tape or rope. They are not careful with your items and only pack to save space but not preserve your items. My colleague and I both used them and both of us were told by the destination movers the upack was loaded horribly. Several items were broken on arrival. He literally screams and curses very loudly the entire time he is moving for the whole neighborhood to hear. His crew told me this is typical of him. Do not have children home if he is hired. He also got into several verbal confrontations with his crew who had to walk out to "cool off". His crew kept smoking cigarettes right outside my open door which was unprofessional and gross. At least twice before the move I spoke with him and let him know I wanted several items covered in shrink wrap or mats, which he said would be no problem. Well that day he did not want to do this and rudely told me I am being "paranoid" even though this is fairly standard for anyone who had used a normal mover elsewhere. He finally covered them but charged me extra for blankets because he didn't have enough wrap. The most comical aspect is given the above, his price is so high. My destination mover was much more professional and prepared. They were a more normal moving operation and charged me HALF what Moyer charged to load and were in a much higher cost of living region. There are very limited moving options in the area so he will likely remain busy but anyone that has used movers out of the area know this is not a great option, especially for the price.
