Recently, I discovered the front of my house was subsiding due to soil compaction. Long cracks in the mortar between bricks on my front porch appeared followed by cracks in my unfinished basement floor and more cracking and spreading of the mortar between the basement cinderblock walls. I had multiple potential contractors survey the damage and Groundworks easily rose to the top of the list. Mitch W. (Site Surveyor) came to the house at the appointed time and using his years of experience, plus multiple highly accurate laser measurements, determined the problem and recommended a viable solution at a reasonable cost. He took time to share what he was doing, why he was doing it, and what the results meant. He inspired confidence with his knowledge, experience, and friendly style. He ensured we were informed consumers so we could make the best decision regarding our house. Mitch never pressed a 'hard sell,' (some other potential contractors did) preferring to find the best solution to our problem at a competitive price. While not the least expensive of the quotes received, Groundworks was clearly the best value, my preferred measurement when about to expend a large sum of money for something. The crew (Bryan L., Harry M., James V., Stephen R., and Calvin H.) all arrived on time each day, ready to work. They quickly began the job on day one and completed it in less that the estimated time, leaving the site clean and ready for use. This included not only cleaning the basement but also any areas on the first floor and garage where they trafficked with equipment and material. This was a difficult job that they performed with professionalism and a determination to please my wife and I with the result. In the end, I was very pleased with the job and glad we had chosen Groundworks. Our outer Pool deck sank about 4 inches in some spots. The water began flowing backwards toward the main pool. The ground underneath began to wash out causing voids under the main concrete decking/walkway. The original estimate from a concrete contractor to remove and replace with new concrete was astronomical. I Called groundworks and met with sales rep. Tanya Kennedy. She explained in great detail the entire process. After agreeing to one of their great finance plans, I contacted them. The groundworks truck rolled in earlier than expected. First impression; the truck they arrived in was spotless and professional looking. Second impression; the workers exited the truck and introduced themselves immediately. The two workers that showed up, Alex Young and Matt Wertz, were professional, courteous, respectful and pleasant to speak with. They explained every aspect of what they were doing and had me stand by to approve the areas they were working on. The entire work area was cleaned and left as if they were never there. I have worked with a lot of contractors over the past 35 years and Groundworks by far is one of the best. Brian L, Calvin H, & Harry M did foundation settlement work in our garage. They were a good team. They installed 4 push piers and also repaired some cracks in the wall. Brian let me know what to expect and kept me informed of the progress. They were all professional, friendly and did a great job. I could see that It was hard work! They kept the dirt/concrete they dug out contained and cleaned up afterwards. Aaron Lengel and Matt Ensel did concrete lifting and crack repairs on the garage floor. They also were professional and friendly and did a great job repairing the floor. In both cases, it would have been great to have the material used to make repairs match the texture/color of the existing concrete slab but it was made very clear up front that it would not match.
