It's in downtown Plainfield, so there are restaurants and bars to grab food before or after.

From Fox Valley Mall into Mish Mash, this place is awesome. The art, digital lighting, signage, and aesthetics are so cool. They did an incredible job with designing it. Mish Mash feels like a liminal space sometimes. I have to dock 3 stars for the complexity of the games, the speed of the games, and the setup of the games. 1 Star Docked for the Setup. The rooms each have a card scanner with a code you enter. That's easy enough. But some rooms require you to push buttons to select teams. Each room handles this differently. It was confusing. Stuff like this needs to be decided outside the room. By the time you go inside the room, you should be playing the game. I don't want to spend an additional 1-3 minutes learning how the setup works. 1 Star Docked for the Complexity of the Games. This makes me sad because the rooms look amazing. The soccer game's fence is too low, so balls ricochet easily. The ropes rooms are too intense for bigger adults, and quite frankly, a liability. The sewer room is a cool concept but way too difficult to climb for adults. The cathedral room we solved, but the game penalized us for not pushing the buttons at the end. We didn't know and the staff didn't give us the points. The biblioteca and crime wall room's tablets froze and we couldn't finish the games. The room with the white cables and colors doesn't give you enough instructions. In fact, please don't give us riddles. Just tell us what to do. I don't want to be even more confused than I already am. Please just forgo the riddles entirely. 1 Star Docked for the Speed of the games. From entering a room to start, the games take forever. 3 minute countdown becomes a 10 second countdown, which then becomes a 10-15 second riddle, which then becomes the room turning on. It's a lot of time docked for just waiting. I was getting impatient. New rooms made me nervous. I'm sad. This place looked so cool. The rooms are beautiful, but disappointing. If I could change mish mash, I would instead do a museum style approach, where the tablets are removed, the magnet doors are removed. And players are instead given an app or a tablet, and each room can be freely entered and played with. And maybe have players solve a mystery and learn to communicate with each other and perhaps with others. And maybe each room has a sort of solution or goal that works towards a greater goal? Or doing a set number of instructions will flash a code that can be used in a phone or tablet to open up more clues or something. That way the whole exiting and re-entering can be alleviated. Either that or take a road trip to activate games down the street and create games that are a little simpler in design. Mish Mash is a good concept but it needs more time to cook. Thank you for the experience, but until they fix things, I wouldn't recommend coming back.

Wow! This place is the definition of horror. My fiance and I are huge, huge fans of the horror…read moregenre. He is very judgemental when it comes to haunted houses and I was surprised to hear no criticism out of him. This was my second year attending. We went on a Sunday and only waited 20 minutes to get in. It was raining but they kept tents above everyone waiting in line. The rain didn't stop the party from happening. Actors still ran around frightening guest. The DJ was pumping jams the entire time. They sell food, drinks and merchandise too but be prepared to spend quite a bit. The haunted house was full of detail and each room had something special to scare you to the fullest. We were in there for a while. Sorry, I couldn't keep track. I was terrified lol. Definitely got our 45 dollars worth. Then after almost loosing my voice and feeling relieved that it was over, we were guided to the second haunted house. Yes I said it, A SECOND HAUNTED HOUSE! and it's already included in your admission. The second one is a 3D haunt with glasses. Very trippy. Full of balloons and confusion and CLOWNS! MWAHAHA! Try to avoid Saturdays in October. One of the attendings working the line said there was a 4 hour wait. I remember that too because I went on a Saturday last year. And avoid coming here drunk on your ass. They won't tolerate drunk or high people who are causing scenes. I saw them kick out lots of people in line who were making a ruckus. I gave this place 5 stars because it deserves it. Their haunt is one of the best. Try to avoid Saturdays unless you don't mind the long wait. Although waiting in line is definitely half of the experience. Dress warm and wear comfy shoes. Bring extra spending money for food, drinks, and souvenirs. Avoid bringing kids under 12 unless they love scary things. Don't pay for parking at the casino, there's free parking a block away. Definitely the best haunted house in Illinois!

I told him my hair is naturally curly and he said "you're a natural liar". To me that was not entertaining, it just felt hostile and hurtful, not funny. There are many places to hide and take cover. The equipment was great. I thought it was awesome that there's a display on the gun that shows stats on how much life you have, how much ammo is left, who shot you, who you show and then at the end of each mission, it shows how many terminations and hits you made and how many ammo you used. The missions are fun and take about 10 minutes each. The ability to re-spawn and the number of ammo you get depends on the mission. A lot of them are unlimited re-spawn and ammo. You have to sign a waiver before you can play. There are free arcade games in the lobby you can play while you wait to go into the arena. They also have a locker area where you can store your valuables while you are in play. You have the option of playing by the hour or by the mission: $30/hour or $15 for 3 missions. There's a Groupon deal that's available which offers 1.5 hours (90 minutes) for about $20/person. This was what we did and it was a great deal. You should call for a reservation ahead of time. We really didn't know what we were expecting when we got there. No one else was there, but these 3 girls that were working. We decided to do an hour of play so that we were able to play all the games. We knew it would be 1 on 1, so it wouldn't as much fun with a big group, but still fun. When we walked into the arena, I was wowed. It was so cool. It was like walking onto a movie set! It takes place in part of the haunted house, so it's spooky, dark, flashing lights, props that scare the crap out of you, sporadically thrown about. All while our own Pandora Radio station was blasting in every room. The games were fun, each one lasting around 10 minutes with different objectives. The coolest thing about this was 2 of the girls working joined us so that "it would be more fun for [us]" which was awesome. They played with us for the whole hour and we all had a blast. You can have up to 16 people playing, but honestly I think that's too many and you'll always be on top of each other. Don't have a group larger than 8 and you'll be golden!
