My husband and I went to the Helena Basecamp today to look at some Lems shoes. Upon arriving in the footwear department, we were immediately greeted by Victoria. It is clear that Victoria truly loves helping people find footwear that matches their goals. I discussed what I was looking for, and Victoria took that information and turned it into a shoe-finding spree! She brought out at least four pairs for me to try. She even brought out some shoes that she thought I might like based on what we talked about. My husband started talking to her, and wouldn't you know it, Victoria brought out some shoes for him, too. She never made us feel rushed or like she was trying to get us out the door. She even helped several other people while we were trying on our shoes, and all of them left with smiles on their faces. The Basecamp is so lucky to have Victoria as a stellar employee. We, as consumers, are even luckier to benefit from her extensive knowledge about footwear. We will definitely return to the Helena Basecamp for any future footwear needs. The world needs more Victorias! Looked like a nice store but I could t stay to look, the scented candles or whatever it was..was super strong. With wildfire smoke already making it hard on the system, extremely scented items are a no go for me. My family is in a camping road trip and would have likely spent $, but it turned us away. Seems silly to be an outdoor store but have synthetic scents filling the space. read more

This nice store is near Park St in Helena. This store has anything and everything needed for an outdoor adventure of ant kind. Everything to wear from shoes to hats. Every kind of equipment needed from tents to water bottles. The ladies working here were kind and helpful. I looked at the clothes and jewelry and the prices were mid range but they had some very unique items. I bought a Montana shirt here and it is a nice quality shirt. I will visit this store again. read more

Dismissive and rude staff but great high end products. We were passing through Helena and needed some warm gear. We saw the great reviews of this store so, we were excited and thrilled to see some beautiful selections of Patagonia, Fre Fly, etc clothing. We we're not helped at all from the staff. In fact, we believe we were ostracized because we were wearing N95 masks. Sales reps asked people around us and behind us if they needed help, needed sizes, or even a dress urn room yet never engaged my boyfriend and myself. We left empty handed and disheartened because everyone else in Helena were so kind. read more

It's like a mini REI! Montana has no sales tax and had I known this, I would've bought everything in sight, but as I'm trying to limit my spending, I had to refrain. It's located in downtown Helena and near the library (we stopped by here on the way). For all your outdoor goods, you can go to The Base Camp. They have very helpful staff to get what you need for your next adventure. They also have some beautiful jewelry (which I believe is made locally). read more

This is a wonderful outdoor equipment, clothing and shoe store! In addition to camping, hiking etc. equipment, they had a well stocked and excellent selection of women's clothing, including North Face, Patagonia, Prana, and the hard to find Black Diamond. Stopped by and checked out the place. Good shop to pick up some quality gear. I'm from out of state and in town for just a couple of weeks. I'd buy my gear here as they carry the brands I like for a good price. Staff were friendly and left me alone as I browsed casually. They even rent gears. That's a big plus. read more

This place saved our hiking plans! We were desperately looking for a pair of Keen sandals for my husband, and as it was the early part of September, the chances of finding them were low. (We'd been hiking and were driving from Glacier to Yellowstone. Owing to massive blisters, Keen sandals were what we needed to salvage the remainder of our hiking plans.) We'd first stopped at Capital Sports, but they had only clearance and not the correct size or style. To our absolute delight, Base Camp not only had the desired size and style, but a choice of colors. We purchased a Vector+Lt Stove Combo from your store in July when we were traveling through Montana. The stove works just fine but the pot has plastic covered handles and lid. We assumed these were somewhat heat tolerant but to our surprise the lid began melting long before the contents were hot. Why even have a sauce pan lid that melts, let alone the handles? We'll trim off the plastic covering the handles and throw away the lid and substitute a foil lid. Bit of a surprise and inconvenience! read more
