I came in not quite knowing what I wanted, an I made sure to let my barber know that when I came in. I have been looking for a great barber for years. Most seem to turn you away from the mirror and instead of listening to the client, cut your hair the way they like to cut hair, and when they turn you back to face the mirror there is a somewhat disappointing "surprise". My hair is wavy and gets out of control when it gets longer. It had gotten a LOT longer then usual. Instead of going to one of my prior barbers I opted to try The Barber Shoppe as one of the reviews mentioned cutting wavy hair on men. Brittany listened as I mentioned that I like to keep my hair a little longer than today's style. She kept me facing the mirror the entire time, so there was no bad surprise, instead there was the very happy result of knowing that I had finally found a barber that I will definitely be returning to, thanks Brittany. read more

The first time I visited The Barber Shoppe, I had an appointment with Jamie for a cut and shampoo, and was ultimately looking for a style change. I came in with some pictures for reference, asked Jamie for her suggestions, and immediately we both agreed on the style. Jamie went straight to cuttin' and worked her magic. End result? Best cut I've had. I've been back a handful of times since, and the results have always been amazing. Each time, I've kind of been asking Jamie to tweak little things here and there based on what I've been learning about my hair with the new style, and immediately she knows how to modify the cut and take care of whatever I'd bring up to her. A true master of her craft! The products they use at The Barber Shoppe are top tier as well. I usually jump from one brand to another, trying to find the best products that work with my hair, but never really came across anything I was ever super satisfied with, until I swapped my entire line to the brands that Jamie introduced me to. We moved to El Dorado County recently. Looked online for a place close to us to take our almost 3-year old for a haircut. He is used to sitting in big shiny cars for his haircuts. So when we took him to a regular barber shop, he wasn't as into it. So we found The Barber Shoppe in Cameron Park had a great review for a hair stylist. Her name is Shannon. And she was great with our 3-year old. She knew exactly how to communicate with him to put him at ease and to help him cooperate with her instructions. The haircut appointment went flawlessly. I went for a third time, this time seeing Jamie again. I had an unexpected important business meeting on Thursday and needed a quick haircut. Fortunately Jamie had an opening in her schedule and was able to see me on Wednesday afternoon. This time I needed a slightly more complicated cut and brought in a photo to reference. Jamie did a great job with it, and as before, got the job done in a short amount of time along with a sideburns and eyebrow trim. I'm so happy with this shop. Jamie and Brittany are both great, and Jamie assured me that I can rely anyone there if neither of them are available (especially with my habit of booking last-minute appointments). Maybe the best experience I've had at a barber shop! Other nearby competitors don't even come close! I walked-in without an appointment and they accommodated me despite how busy they were (I do recommend booking an appointment online). The shop was very clean; they have a nice kiosk up front for checking-in and accepting card payments. Yes, card payments! I was so happy to learn that it wasn't cash-only, like many other shops. Valerie cut my hair, and she was great! Very friendly, and didn't rush through the cut. Other shops have me in and out within 15-20 minutes, and this was more like 30-40. You might be looking for a quicker cut, but I REALLY appreciated that she didn't seem to be rushing and was very thorough. Haircut was $30, btw. She used a hot towel at the end of the cut, and even brushed some powder on my neck and ears (a new one for me) to help remove hairs and reduce the itch. Valerie ended up using some product that I really liked, a molding cream. I ended up buying some because my hair looked so great after she was done! She even took time to explain which direction my hairs grew, and the best way for me to comb to make them behave! Haha. Overall, it was a great experience. Yeah...it's a drive up here from Orangevale, but totally worth it! Val has now done my hair three times and each time is better than the last. She is always professional & personable. My only complaint is the same one I have had with my last barber in Palm Desert: Each time she leaves more grey hair than last time ! Went in for a last minute haircut today. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and I waited for maybe five minutes before being called back. Brittany cut my hair and, no joke, gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I have sensory issues and hate getting my hair cut, but Brittany did a thorough, quick job and gave me exactly what I wanted.
