Tried the waxing service - what a mistake! Cramped waxing room, broken table I was warned to be careful with, blaring music, and a crappy waxing job. Wish I could attach a picture of my bruised and bleeding eyebrow after Bethany had her way with it. Maybe the one side she did this on was due to the fact she was jammed between the wall and the table (see above re: cramped). Adding insult to injury, she charged $20.00 over her published rates. After verifying the difference once I returned home I emailed her for an explanation. No response. My husband loves getting his haircut here by Sarah! No matter the length of the mane, my husband always comes out looking dapper! She is easy going, priced reasonably, and does a great job. While this place has some good style points with the Nordeast location and free PBRs, I was pretty unhappy with the trim and shave I got from the owner. For my hair, I asked for only a little trim around my ears and neck, but she gave me a complete haircut instead. While this may sound like a good deal, it was uneven and looked unprofessional. As for the shave, I was surprised to notice a lot of stubble and a few patches that were completely missed. I went to this barber based on the great reviews I saw here on Yelp. Got a relaxing lather shave as an impulse walk-in a month or so ago, and returned for a haircut today. A real "Old School" delivery, but a fun experience both times. If you are a gent and have not ever had a hot lather shave, DO IT. Every man deserves this once in a while. Very reasonably priced for the quality and conviviality of the shop. My regular gal jumped ship from the place she used to work, and started here at The Barber Sharp. So of course I followed her since she's fantastic (Steph). I was so impressed with the authenticity of this place. Antique barber chairs - many still with the cigarette ash tray on the arm, SO COOL. They offered me a beer when I walked in, again so cool! You wrote your name on a chalk board to "sign in" - cute and grounded! This is very different from a fancy schmancy regular place that charges double, but quite frankly I think I've received the best cut I've ever received in my life. Also, for those of you who are uncomfortable with general, honest, open ended and sometimes not politically correct conversation, this place is not for you. They don't specialize in making sure all topics are catered towards your likings and opinions. This is a barber shop. Share your opinions if you wish, and hear others opinions. I went here about 1 and a half years ago mind you, so things might be different now, but, the shops presentation, location and the friendliness of Kelly Sharp are basically the only things this "barber shop" has got going for it. Don't get me wrong, great lady, just not a "master barber" that she labels herself to be. Haircut was uneven and not really what I had asked for. I did go in about 15 minutes before she closed, but even so, the haircut was extremely rushed and I wasn't even offered a PBR! Found a new barber shop, so I'll definitely not be returning. Got a couple good cuts but then my normal stylist got let go. I was put with a guy who did not comprehend what I wanted even with a photo in hand. No blending, gave me a straight mohawk like cut... I'm a professional! I cannot go to work with a freggin mohawk like cut...The owner tried to fix it for free the following week which was nice but she was not successful. I went to someone else the following week and they fixed it. I cannot take another chance with this shop. I really like the decor and ambiance of the place but I ultimately need my hair to be what I'm paying for. read more

I just got my hair cut by Kelly at The Barber Sharp and let me tell you, I couldn't be more pleased. It is by far one of the best haircuts I have received. I have tried everything in the NE and some places downtown for the past three years and Kelly tops them all. She provides an excellent service at a very reasonable cost. The best part of my experience with Kelly was that she listened to what I needed done and she did it. I sometimes get my hair cut once a year...sometimes. That will change after yesterday's experience at The Barber Sharp. It's old school/town square barbershop with regulars, banter and everything else you'd expect at a barbershop...except it includes Kelly Sharp cutting your hair, which is what makes the experience so good. I did the Aveda thing and the uber-expensive salon here and there over the years, but I was never very pleased with the result or the experience. I craved the barbershop experience from my childhood, but I also wanted a professional cut. Look no further than the Barber Sharp. It's a men's only shop owned and cut by a woman...which is awesome. You get a PBR while you get your hair cut, and all the barbershop banter you can handle minus the misogyny characteristic of most men's only shops. Kelly spent 35 minutes on my hair: awesome. Most barbers move you through as fast as they can...Kelly's only concern is that you're happy. Actually, when my wife and daughter came to pick me up, Kelly said to my wife, "My concern is that you're happy first, him second." My wife agreed that it's the best cut I've had, and it was. Tucked in right beside the 331 Club, it's perfect for old timer regulars, Northeast hipsters, and for people like myself who fall somewhere in between.
