His hair was long and his beard was wolf man jack. Haircuts are an absolute nightmare for him because of his sensory issues and anxiety. I took a chance and googled mobile barbers and contacted Josue with his mobile barbershop business. He was easy to work with setting up an appt and I explained to him about my son and he let me know he's worked with special needs kids before. He kept in communication and today showed up right on time. I was nervous knowing my son wasn't going to be thrilled with a haircut and he wouldn't go into Josue's mobile barbershop (which is so COOL!). So he came inside and ended having to cut my son's hair while he sat in his bed because he was protesting so much. As I held my son tight trying to get the hair off of him as fast as I could Josue worked like a master stealth barber with his clippers cutting his hair. My son was having a meltdown but we kept pushing through and Josue would quietly step back until my son calmed a bit. He had no issues with my son's behaviors and was calm as could be. We had to take a break and Josue was kind enough to wait until I was ready for us to start again. I know this is a lot of detail but if you knew how hard it is to maneuver around a teenage boy who is loudly protesting and hitting himself you'd understand my enthusiasm and gratitude for Josue. Together we got my son all cleaned up and I could have never in a million years done it myself. When I told him that he's amazing he said back to me "you're amazing" after watching me with my son. What a sweet, kind, compassionate, talented, respectful, patient, go with the flow and hard working man Josue is. The location of the shop is inside of a plaza and located on the top floor. I had no issues finding it. I was sat down just in time for my 12:30 appointment. The shop was very clean, professional and had good vibes. I told Will took clean me up and give me a comb over. Within 20 minutes, My hair was transformed into something new. I dropped him off with Ray, and went to get cash. He says it should take about 20 minutes. I came back only to see white cream on his head... ??!! I'm looking super confused... I asked for a fade, specifically, a bald fade, which is what my son has had FOR YEARS, and never with white cream!! The other barber jokingly says, "He's getting his grown man on!" When we got to the car, I inspected it fully... 1) there were TWO cuts on his head 2) there were patches of hair not clean shaven 3) it was the weirdest looking bald fade ever 4) the faded portion looked fine My son had curly, black-folk texture hair, so I was afraid of ingrown hairs... sure enough, today I find bumpy, ingrown hairs on his head!! ANY professional barber should KNOW BETTER, and unless a customer specifically requests a clean shaven head, normal hair cutting techniques should be employed. At the very least, ask the parent before using a straight razor on a child's head.
