My wife and i visited this place recently and we were more than happy with the service and with the food we ordered. My wife had the Lasagne with a side salad and garlic bread, she was impressed with the obvious homemade portion, i had the cajun chicken and again, i was thoroughly content with the whole meal. we will be making this place a regular on our nights out.

Black paintwork and nicotine walls. Black Boy dates back to the 1330s, though the first reference to licenced premises on the site was in 1729. Most now is 17th and 18th century. Ye Olde Black Boy is the definitive genuine traditional Olde English pub and of course it has a ghost. it is a little slave boy (hence the name) who was a servant there before the abolishion. Now that you cant smoke inside it is much better. The food is OK, nothing special but at reasonable prices and there is a real windmill outside (used for storing the beer now as far as I know). They did try to turn the Mill into a younger pub with a lot of large TV's showing sports but then the Crown opened up after refurbishment and the Mill could not compete. I'm hoping it will get back to being the more family/regulars pub that it used to be.

This might be why come evenings and weekends it's jam packed with loud obnoxious and at times intimidating people. A family pub where patrons expect kids in the lounge...We love it....Not for the yuppie though..but thats the biggest bonus!

Myself and a couple of friend decided to try Lambwath for the breakfast. It wasn't busy at the…read moretime but when we arrived at the servery, there wasn't a member of staff. We waited for a little while before the staff came out of the kitchen to serve. None of the items were labelled. Why would you need labelling on a breakfast? It was hard to tell the difference between the vegetarian sausages and the regular meat sausages. I did have to ask the server to double check. Some of the items didn't look that fresh, athough while sat down, we did see the staff replensish a few things. I would have liked to have known if they disposed of the old before decanting the new. On the whole, not too bad but I have had better (and more expensive, so I have taken that into account). They are expecting a refit before christmas, so it will be interesting to see the new decor and if the food has changed
