We bought a little bitty house that we were originally planning to rent out. Life happened, so it became home. You previously walked in the front door to face a big wall, we had our washer/dryer crammed into our tiny little kitchen, and upstairs was basically just a hallway with a weirdly shaped little office space. Honestly, we didn't think it was going to be possible to make this house meet our needs - but we were so unhappy with our space that we wanted an architect to tell us what was actually possible. Caroline listened carefully to all our personal preferences and requests, and after coming out to tour and measure, she somehow came up with multiple options that fit all of our requests into our small space without changing the footprint of the house! I'm a pretty creative and design focused person, and I am still blown away with her talent. After going through all the incredible options she provided, she took our comments on each option to personalize the plans even further to make our house into a home that no longer even feels small. It takes an incredibly talented person to fit a large kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an office, 6 full closets, and a laundry space COMFORTABLY into 1400 sqft. I cannot recommend her enough!!! We are still getting settled back into our house, but I will add photos later. Hire Caroline!!

In working with re:FORM we found an essential partner - their experience with historic home renovation and expertise working with the Georgia State Historic Preservation Division to ensure we received historic tax credits was invaluable. Collaborating with us from re:FORM was owner and award-winning architect Stacie Monroe, who beautifully coordinated our design and build ensuring that the result exceeded Earthcraft standards. Stacie handled the exterior architecture and her partner Erin Christman worked with us on the successful incorporation of modern touches inside the home. With re:FORM's help we were able to include important eco-friendly improvements like icynene whole-house insulation, solar panels for generating hot water, and state-of-the-art water harvesting and grey water systems without sacrificing any of our home's character defining features. We HEART re:FORM! Barb Shadomy, owner Stonehurst Place Bed & Breakfast http://www.stonehurstplace.com/green.php

She took our nebulous but lengthy ideas about what we wanted and helped hone our focus into a result that we could not have imagined ourselves. We are thrilled with the design. She keeps a tight eye on cost and her deep knowledge of the business, what it takes to build as well as practical things like livability and energy savings have given us a better result through a remarkably smooth process. You expect architects to know designs and plans, and she knows those well, but where Stacie stands out and the real joy in working with her is her personality. She is a blast to work with and has an amazing ability to artfully use her knowledge and experience to listen, bring to life and then evolve projects into plans and construction that make every side of your brain happy. We would enthusiastically recommend Stacie to anyone who is considering any type of rebuild, remodel or new home construction.

So our house had an extension built on by someone's cousin who may have seen a Youtube video on it once, and now we're dealing with a whole slew of issues that need addressing. They have a lot of projects lined up, so they have a bit of a waiting list, but we were able to have our issues inspected and we're getting an estimate soon on the repairs. Absolutely thrilled with the customer service. Darri Washburn has been just a breath of fresh air. She's kept us in the loop throughout everything, taking extra time to explain things that I didn't understand. The invoices sent didn't have any surprise charges on them and have been a fair price. I am very happy with how this company is taking care of us and intend on going to them first for all future renovation and construction needs. Fan for life.

The result was transforming. This area became a go to for many and resulted in a ten percent uptick in sales. The furniture he designed was not only beautiful, but smart in form and function. His team truly transformed the space; and made the business more profitable.

Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled with the result. I told Jeffrey before work began that I wanted to make no decisions and that came to pass thanks to his detailed plans. The contractors worked from those plans and I have only the highest praise for them, too. Jeffrey's plans combined three rooms into one large space and included replacing the cellar stairs (where I had to duck my head going down) with a circular stair case that is just perfect. The final result was far removed from my initial discussion with Jeffrey but his design was so perfect that I quickly deferred to him on virtually everything he wanted to do. He included a large island in the kitchen which I had not envisioned and behind it he added a three-pane glass sliding door that lets a ton of light into the room and that I use all the time to get to my deck. He also designed a garden window that projects outward by about eighteen inches and is full of plants. I first learned of Jeffrey because he designed the kitchen of my next-door-but-one neighbor. I loved it and I love mine even more. I'm so happy with the result. The work also included a new floor in the attic space and opened up the den to the new kitchen.

We had Chris as our 203k consultant and as our architect for a renovation loan. Chris sold us for the job saying that he was the only 203k consultant in the area that was also an architect. He also said that he was so good that when submitting plans to the city, we wouldn't hear about any revisions and it would never be an issue. Both of these things turned out to be untrue. We ended up needing revisions to our plans in order to be compliant with the city. Chris would not do the work unless he got paid another $1500 (on top of the $3400 he was already paid). I have since talked to multiple architects and they have commented that this is unusual. When you pay someone upfront to handle the permitting process, they are expected to follow through with it. It is not the client's responsibility when the city says there is an issue with the plans. The architect is supposed to be the expert. When talking with Chris about the issue, he was extremely defensive and arrogant. Chris would not guarantee that the additional $1500 would cover any future revisions asked for by the city and he took offense that I even asked. The contract you sign with him is vague and doesn't address this situation. He also kept saying that there seemed to be a mix up with the city and that he was "tempted" to go down and talk to the city to get things straightened out, but Chris would not do this without being paid first. Needless to say since Chris would not stand behind his work, we fired him as our 203k consultant and our architect. When we were asking around to find a new consultant and architect, we found out that Chris has a reputation for being difficult to work with. Other 203k consultants said that this wasn't the first time they were being asked to take over a project from Chris, and the other architects I talked to said our expectations about the plans were reasonable. I even sent our plans to another architect and they said his work was sloppy and unprofessional. Shop around. There are plenty of other options out there.
