We did not intend to never eat our cake, but it happened that one year ago when we got married we found ourselves pulled by a million things and never even got to eat our own cake. But, this year for our anniversary, we pulled our specially reserved small cake out of the freezer, following Carla's instructions, and it was SO DELICIOUS. I was stunned a cake could be that good one year after being made. I believe we got the pumpkin spice, cream cheese frosting, and the filling that Carla recommended. Carla herself was sweet, accessible, went above and beyond, and the cake was beautiful. This was a total wedding success. Highly recommend her. I'm not sure if she remembers our particular wedding and cake one year later, but in any case we want to thank this amazing lady who made our day special twice :)

And why can you not get an item made to your preference? Good question. The answers that have been given range from "We have a small kitchen" to "If we modify everyone's food, the wait times will be an hour". The latter may be true because you'll wait 30 minutes or more anyhow. And what happens if you insist you would like an item made to your liking with only a minimum of modifications? You'll get lambasted on Facebook and told that "maybe restaurant dining isn't for you". As long as they have traffic on Hwy 65 they'll get a lot of one time, last time customers. It appears they've already crapped on the locals pretty hard as the owner is repeatedly begging for business when tourist traffic is slow. These are just my opinions, and I encourage you to draw your own conclusions. I've not just been one time, I've been several times in the last year and have tried to give this place a shot, but I just can't anymore. This has nothing to do with the owner's political beliefs, although she claims that's a reason people don't like her. She's pretty unlikable no matter who she may vote for. That said, you do get a sense of how she might vote just based on the attitude and nastiness. There is a bright spot though. There's a shorter lady server who smiles all the time and is pleasant to deal with. I feel like the others have been warned to secure the happiness.

I ordered a two-tiered, round cake with frosted ruffles. It turned out exquisite, besides the fact that I told them the wrong color. I should have said pink and not salmon! Oops! We also ordered a grooms cake from them that was decorated to look like a Razorback's face. The cakes were so moist and delicious, and the icing was phenomenal. The two-tiered was chocolate and vanilla with a raspberry frosting and the groom's cake was red-velvet with a cream cheese frosting. I also purchased a two-tiered cake for my sister's baby shower. Upon arrival for pick-up, I noticed that some of the icing had started to sag, but I was running late and told them it would be fine. I drove about two blocks and the entire back-side of the frosting had slipped off. I turned around and they immediately called in one of their decorators, completely re-iced and decorated the cake, and gave me a twenty dollar refund! The cake looked even better than it had before and, needless to say, the cake was a huge hit at the shower and no one minded that I was late! The Cake Shop also sells cookies, cupcakes, etc. throughout the week. My husband stops in frequently after four pm when everything in their display cases and coolers are $5 each. He usually snags a couple dozen chocolate covered strawberries for that price. They always have the most ripe and juicy strawberries. I would encourage you to stop in and give them a try, they are more than welcoming and have amazing products!
