Location, location, location! Folks, we are in Miami and let me tell you something, you are not getting New York bagels here. That delicious is crispy outside and chewy inside and that unique flavor that can only be made with New York City water just ain't coming to South Dade. But if you are looking for a seriously good bagel in Miami, the Bagel Express can't be beat. Let me start up by saying they have the absolutely best DoorDash offer. Two egg and cheese bagels for the price of one. And not an overly inflated price of one, but a truly good price of one. The eggs are cooked exactly to order and the bagel selection is unlimited. Certain toppings are free, others are charged for. The only drawback is you have to get the same toppings on both bagels. That being said, I prefer to go into the store. I can pick my bagel have them toasted exactly how I like them and get whatever I want on it. If I get there early, they are still warm and don't even need to be toasted. Everything I have tried there has been quite good and despite what other reviews have said, I have always received courteous and quick service. But when I can't get out of the house, I cannot resist the DoorDash special. Here's a hint though for the Doordash delivery; I like my eggs over medium when in a sandwich so I don't get egg all over my face every bite, and I prefer the sandwich toasted to have that outer crunch that I remember from New York bagels. So I order the takeout double toasted and the eggs over easy. When it arrives at my home, I pop it in the toaster oven. I take any vegetables that I ordered off before I do this. In merely six minutes I have that perfect crunchy bagel with the eggs now cooked over medium how I liked them. Well worth the minimal effort! One thing that they did in New York, that precluded the need to do this was they would double wrap the takeout sandwich instead of putting it in Styrofoam like it's done here. The inner paper wrapper and outer foil wrapper seem to keep it crunchy, warm, and delicious. I wish they would do that with their bagel sandwiches here. Another issue that others have mentioned is they charge sales tax when you order a dozen bagels. This is unnecessary because unsliced bagels are a bakery consumable not subject to sales tax in the state of Florida. Overall, by Florida standards, this is an outstanding bagel shop that I highly recommend. It has its draw backs, some of which it could fix but others, like being outside of New York, we just have to deal with. This cute little bagel shop should be on your list of GoTo places and especially for home delivery. read more

As someone who is 33 weeks pregnant and dreamt of waking up to a delicious double toasted sesame seed bagel with onion and chive cream cheese, bacon and tomato I was severely disappointed. I have lived in Nyc and know what a good bagel is. I arrived 15 min after opening and the serving I got of cream cheese made it seem like perhaps they were running out. The bacon wasn't the crispy bacon that is delicious on a crunchy bagel. I had asked for my bagel double toasted as well which was also not done. I took my order to go and was so disappointed at the sight when I got home. Maybe I will give them another chance if I sit and eat there. I thought i was going to love this place when I arrived there was a table of some older gentlemen that seemed like regulars which made me feel like I had found my local bagel place. It's refreshing to have a delicious bagel shop in town. The employees are kind, speedy, and helpful. My go-to has been the wheat everything bagel. Putting sunflower seeds in an "everything" blend is genius. The nutty flavor, in addition to its saltiness and chewy texture, makes the bagel better than most. The food is great and always has been. That hasn't changed since the change of ownership. Ambiance has shifted drastically. The warm, old-American vibe is now replaced with a more modern, cool toned theme. I see what they tried to do, but it's just a bit colder now. Not my vibe, but may be for someone else. Service is moderately good. The warm welcome and occasional comment or banter from their old staff was great! Maybe a culture clash? They no longer butter your bagel for you when you order one toasted. The butter came in pre-packaged foil wrap. Ice cold and the knife kept bending too much to be able to properly spread. Best bagels in Miami! I've been a fan since eating them during my days at Miami Killian Senior High. When I reached out to Killian a few years ago asking where they got their bagels from, they told me "Bagel Express" which was a pleasant surprise knowing they were a local company. The Nova Scotia on an everything bagel hit the spot this morning! The pickle is definitely an acquired taste and not one that I personal had. Lol I was too full from the bagel to make it to the potato salad, but I did taste it and it was really good. My husband had the garlic bagel and liked it, but said it was a bit too salty for him. The staff is attentive and the ambience was won't that everyone new everyone. So the atmosphere was a family just sitting down for breakfast. I just found my new bagel place in this area. YUMMYYYYY Wow what an amazing place. It's not too fancy but their bagels have to be the best ones I have tried in all Miami. My daughter ordered and garlic bagel with an omelet that had Swiss cheese and ham. The omelet was made fresh right there in front of us and then they put it inside the bagel. Sooooo good. It was extremely crowded with too many tables and chairs, and there was a lot of stuff on the walls, which added to the clutter and the feeling that the walls were closing in on me. While the service is friendly, it took a pretty long time to get our order. We had to wait several minutes to pay, and then even longer to get our order. I was heartbroken to walk into this bagel joint and see it so different. Looks like there is new ownership. I used look forward to all the sarcastic pictures. Another thing that jumped out at me right away was they covered the bagel window- I don't like that at all! It all looks very white when you walk in but not very welcoming as it felt uptight. My mom and I have been coming here forever! It's a hole in the wall, but ain't nothin' wrong with that! They make their bagels in house and are actually the bagel supplier for roasters & toasters. They are delicious and fresh! I love eggs with my breakfast, but for some reason, the eggs just come out weird here. So now I order the tuna platter. Their tuna has tiny pieces of carrots minced in it and isn't overloading with mayo. It's just right! Reasons for 2 star deduction: 1. I think it's a little over priced. 2. I've noticed that when you become a regular customer here, they build a confidence with you to treat you like the red-headed step child they didn't want. Asked for 1/2 dozen bagels. Noticed the display bagels were quite dark, over baked. Asked the employee to please not give me the dark ones. She bagged the bagels behind the counter and handed me the bagels in a brown bag. I paid and left. When I unpacked the bagels at home they were all very dark brown, very hard and dry and very difficult to slice. I called to speak with the manager to complain and was told she only spoke Spanish, luckily I do. She was not interested in my concern. I used to live in NYC so every now and again I wake up with a serious bagel craving----I just want a traditional styled bagel, with some yummy cream cheese, and a coffee. I came into The Bagel Express with this craving in mind and was pleasantly surprised to find a true diner styled experience. The bagels here are definitely quality in comparison to other local spots. My boyfriend got a garlic bagel with cream cheese and egg on top while I decided to go with their nova platter with chives cream cheese that came with a delicious pickle (seriously, above average), lettuce, tomato, onion and a tiny side of potato salad. We enjoyed our meals and were definitely full after. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the pricing was a little high (we spent around $30) and the coffee was absolutely terrible; couldn't finish it and didn't want to.
