Our family of six spent a totally enjoyable four-plus hours this past Sunday at Jerry Hiltner's Vintage Village Antiques in rural Osakis, Minnesota (population 1,750). "Rural" takes on new meaning out here on the dirt roads of northwestern Minnesota where the only facilities on this site are a pair of outhouses. Jerry offers tours and field trips of the "Village" by appointment 7 days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pre-scheduled visits for small groups include a Thanksgiving-like candlelight dinner for a modest fee per person. We enjoyed walking through a half dozen buildings on the property including a vintage school room, a small church, a blacksmith shop and a few vintage structures filled to the brim with interesting antiques and collectibles for sale. The highlight of our afternoon was an incredible home-cooked, family-style Chicken Dinner with all the fixins in the candle-lit dining room of the site's turn-of-the-century farmhouse. Jerry is the gregarious owner and host, as well as chief cook and bottle washer of this awesome village of vintage buildings that he relocated to this bucolic site. He is a chef with a life-long passion for antiques and all things antiquarian. Jerry's passion and good-natured love of life is immediately felt as you meet this country gentleman. After our magnificent dinner, Jerry capped off our visit by giving us a buggy ride through the fields in a vintage Amish-style carriage pulled by a smart nine year old Filly. What a day we had at the "Farm". For me, it was like stepping back in time and into a snapshot of life a hundred years ago. Thank you Jerry for your incredible Minnesotan hospitality. Without question...10 stars on a scale of 5!

The beauty of this venue shines so bright. Everyone attending said this was the best wedding venue they've ever been to, and I would have to 100% agree. We booked with Ivory North for venue & photos before it was finished and I don't think I've ever made a better decision. April and Blake's love for each other and their family is so reflective through their work and truly draws them apart from other wedding vendors. In my job experience, I work with a lot of different brides and wedding vendors, and EVERYONE had nothing but amazing things to say about them. If you are even considering getting married here, you actually need to get married here. Don't bother anywhere else. It's worth the drive to Mora, I assure you. Shoutout to Ryan for running the operations day of and being so accommodating to our needs for the wedding! He was a fan favorite from everyone and definitely eased a lot of the random little concerns that come up on the day of. April and Blake, thank you again and again for coming into our lives and making our day so incredibly special. I cannot thank you enough!

The house layout was great for a medium-ish groups: two bedrooms on the main floor, a loft with a couch (and room for an air mattress), and two bedrooms downstairs. We had a group of 12, which I'd say is probably the max, a few people ended up sleeping on couches and I'm not sure how comfortable they were. The indoor pool was such a highlight! We spent most of our time there. It's heated, has Bluetooth speakers for music, and even a projector (though we didn't end up using it). There were plenty of floaties, and it was a great space to relax and hang out as a group. The pool could have been just a bit warmer, but we went in the spring when it was still a little chilly outside--I imagine it's perfect in the summer when the sun warms the space more naturally. Parking was super easy. All 12 of our cars fit in the driveway with no issues, and the house was easy to find. A few small cons: * Since we visited in spring, I'm not sure the place had gotten its full seasonal cleaning yet, some of the windowsills and the area outside were pretty dirty. * The fridge was a bit small for a group of our size. Definitely bring extra coolers, especially if you're stocking up on drinks. * There's no recycling available. We ended up bringing all our recycling home because we didn't want to throw it in the trash.
