Cheap prices, great college atmosphere, best happy hour in town. Who wouldn't want to be at The Backdoor.

My husband and I came for a karaoke night with Allen and were pleasantly surprised by this…read more(literally) underground sports bar. We were carded and greeted by our very lovely waitress Bethany who sat us down and quickly got us drinks. I got the chicken tenders, and husband got the quesadillas, both served with fresh cut fries which were awesome! I half expected par-for-course bar food, but the meals we got were far above. Despite their saddening lack of honey mustard, the tenders were flavorful, moist, and of pretty decent size. Husband said his quesadilla was very good as well, and the fries were great! The environment was rather quiet until about midnight (We got in around 9:00) when all of the bar hoppers really started to pile in. Quiet turned to lively pretty fast, and the bar, which was right across from our table, quickly became a high traffic area. Things got a little squishy, but the inside is on the smaller side for a sports bar. So with popularity comes a little bit of getting comfortable with your neighbor, and the occasional random person taking a seat at your table. Despite how full things got, Bethany was attentive and timely with her check backs. Our cups and bottles didn't stay empty for long. I appreciate her ability to keep track of her patrons through all the chaos. You go Bethany! As for the karaoke, we are regulars of Allen at another establishment and already knew he was our guy! Get there early enough and you can sing to your hearts content before the hour wait times that come later. Allen's fun loving and positive vibes really set the mood for the whole night. We will definitely be back!

Our waitress was super attentive and always bringing us drink refills. We got boneless wings and they were good, really saucy. They have a few games to play too which made it nice. Bathrooms were pretty gross and no hook for bags but it is a college bar so not shocking. They don't make shooters so when we ordered a lemon drop it was just vodka with a side of lemons.

It may be difficult to select other items next time around based on how tonight's selection hit the mark.. Scotch eggs, Brussel sprout app, and spicy sweet blue-cheese wings were high quality.

For lunch, I went to The GOAT Country Roads Pub in Morgantown. Located in the Suncrest Town Centre,…read morethis bar and grill opened up in 2024. A second location will open soon in Clarksburg. I planned on getting a burger until I saw the abundance of appetizers on the menu. I kind of wish I'd stuck with the burger, honestly. I bought the cheesesteak egg rolls and scotch eggs. Both were $10. The first bite of the scotch eggs was very flavorful. But the more I ate, it became TOO flavorful. There was something or some kind of seasoning that overtook the taste and I just couldn't finish them. I poked around the second egg a bit, but it actually made me kind of sick whatever it was. I admit, they were pretty. They looked great in the pics. But it was kind of like sausagey mush inside. The cheesesteak egg rolls were a little bit better but it didn't really look like any cheesesteak I'd ever seen. It was more like a cheesesteak paste. Maybe a catfood pate. If you look at the pictures, you can see what I mean. The consistency was kind of ehhh. The establishment itself was cool looking. Lots of tvs. The waitresses were friendly and talkative. I learned a lot about my waitress. She's from Clarksburg and is a 21 year-old student. I love to talk and learn about people, so I give them a thumbs up in customer service. I just wish I'd ordered the burger. Sometimes you need to go with your first choice and I'm still paying the consequences. On my way home, I stopped off at a gas station because I was so ravenous from not eating much of my lunch. I gorged on a pepperoni roll, beef stick, and a king-sized Twix. Then, I got sicker from eating all that junkfood. ‍

Absolutely not! I wanted to love this place, loved the name and the location up on the hill but…read moredang, it was anything but enjoyable! I'm giving two stars for hubby's burger and our server/bartender, she seemed new and was friendly and nice. We sat at the bar so were served right away which is a plus, hard to ignore people right in front of you! The food and the manager are what ruined it for me. We started with the "World Famous" crab dip. I asked to sub the pretzels for tortilla chips due to gluten intolerance and was told the chips are made in house so may be cross contaminated in the oil. Looking forward to fresh chips I said no problem! Oh my, the chips were anything but fresh! Very stale, some actually chewy and most just bland and tasteless. No way the crab dip is famous, it was basically cheese with some canned crab tossed on top. Hubby's Spicy Jack burger was great, especially with the added smash patty from my burger! The smash burger is probably good as well, it was the gluten free hockey puck that completely ruined it for me. Yes, I told our server who then told the manager who then came to verify it was hard as a rock who then shook his head and walked away. The server was very apologetic and said she would take the $2.00 charge for the bun off our bill. Great, I'm okay with that! She didn't know how so here comes the manager again, hits some keys and hands us our tab. He put "DIDN'T LIKE", in caps, as the reason for the "Manager Comp". WHAT? Unacceptable!
