Negative stars! My 21 year old daughter (there for college) had her truck towed there because it blew a spark plug (2001 F150). They were going to charge her $1650!!! For Spark Plugs!! I asked what could be done to just get her up and running again. Scott said they could change only one of the spark plugs for $950 to get her on the road. At that point I called a different mechanic who quoted me $250. So I called Scott and told them we were having the truck towed to a different mechanic. I would rather pay the cost of the tow truck than give them my money! Scott then gave me a new quote of $300 to change the ONE spark plug! I asked him why that option wasn't given to me when I had asked what else could be done initially. His answer was "I was trying to give you all the options" yet he never gave me the cheaper quote until I was taking my business elsewhere. At that point I agreed just to get the truck moving again. DO NOT COME HERE!! They are very dishonest and will try to rip you off as soon as they see a young college student! read more

Okay I knew that I had to find myself in auto shop in East Sac-- but I kept delaying and delaying the inevitable search. I hate to even think about auto upkeep! Then the dreaded tire-pressure icon lit up on my dashboard, throwing me into full fret mode. (Tire pressure probably just routine, right? Except-- maybe NOT, I fretted.) I got in touch with The Auto Experts and-- well, joy! Tom answered the phone and was perfectly sympathetic to my anxiety. The shop was booked up but "oh we can help you with that, just come on in." So I did that and The Experts quickly took care of the tires and the dashboard light. I was so pleased with their helpful ness that I immediately scheduled a delayed full tune up. On tune-up day The Experts presented me with a full, clear statement of the items that would be included. For those that were not immediately crucial, I had the option to delay the services for a while. And at the end of the day, I drove home in an old car that fairly purred. The Auto Experts do excellent, prompt work. They are courteous, professional, hardworking, and even sympathetic. AND they cured my auto-maintenance-phobia! The former A Auto shop was always a favorite of the neighborhood, but the new management has doubled the prices, so far, and does not honor phone quotes. I had the A/C charged last year for about $80, but when I went back to recharge it this summer, they charged $160! I did get half of that back in credit, because the previous service had missed leaking valve cores. I tried to use the last $30 of the credit today, after calling Monday to check on the credit and the price. The woman said that it was $139 for the diagnostic to make an estimate. Great! But today, it is $179, less my $30 credit. I say that the woman quoted me $139, and that they should honor phone quotes. He just said, "the price is $179, and didn't offer to check with her. He actually said, "Well, I didn't hear that." If effect, calling me a liar! I am outta there. Watch your pocketbook if you go there! Followup: I found that $150-$180 is typical for a diagnosis, but I called KB Motors, right near Schools Credit Union on Folsom. He says, "$155 to diagnose, and if it's the O2 sensor, that includes installation, unless we have to remove a bunch of stuff"! Had the repair done today, $155 labor, $259 out the door! Turns out that there is no diagnosis besides a 1-minute code scan, because the O2 sensor heater code tells you that the connection is good, and you just need the sensor. So, $179 for a sensor heater diagnostic plus install is a total ripoff. read more

Today, I expressed that I was short on time and they completed the repair quicker than expected and at a lower price than previously quoted. (SCAMMED) Was a 4 year costumer after moving to sac for college until I got scammed. Blew a head and barley got my car to the shop. Hours later they told me I had a failed water pump ($300 fix) then they told me my head blew and the price was just too high to pay so I towed my car back home after paying $300 for a water pump. !! Took my car to another reputable dealer to get my heads fixed for a cheaper price and they told me I didn't have a water pump in my car!! They did not receive my phone calls until I made a surprise Uber trip over there. They kicked me out the store then later called back and refunded only $150. I agreed to the deal for the little work of stripping down my car that they did, however, this was a breach in this business' code of ethics. Will never return. read more

I was very disappointed to find out that this is an auto repair place you can't trust, and that they have no respect for women. The owner was extremely rude to me and annoyed that I was asking questions to be sure I had the best work to keep my car in warranty. I was attempting to be sure they used genuine manufacturer parts and the owner yelled at me and told me I was asking too many questions. They do not follow the exact manufacturers codes and forgot to replace an important part during the previous service. It turns out that the dealer was cheaper than A-Auto even when A-Auto would be using after market parts. No wonder he did not like me asking questions. I decided to get an oil change here because of the good reviews on Yelp and how close it is to my work. I made an appointment the morning of before I went in. They greeted me immediately when I walked in. They had me fill out some of my information on paper because I'm a new customer and then quickly began the oil change. I was only there for about 15 minutes. That's the quickest oil change I've ever gotten on my current car. I was really surprised but really happy (mostly because I was starving lol). They charged me $72 for the oil change & filter. My car requires synthetic oil so that may be why it's so pricey. But the time and customer service is definitely worth that price. read more

I was referred here by a friend.Mr.Le was very polite, professional and respectful.I don't live full time in Sacramento,but I have only been here once,one time I came,for an estimate,and the people working there were too busy and told me to call them. Often when women go to an auto repair shop, you encounter issues of getting talked down to, ....as if you are a child, or missing half of your brain,often with a side of price gauging.Sometimes you are even told things need to be repaired, that do NOT need repair. Mr.Le, did not treat me that way,he was fair and honest.However one employee made VERY subtle,yet still, off color remarks,or "jokes",... I guess he thought they were funny,I did not. Overall,I was treated well, and I was definitely NOT price gouged. A -autos prices were very reasonable. Literally $400-$300 less than 3 other places I called,and a written estimate from another shop. They also provide a 1 year warranty on their work. I am happy with the work he did, and very happy to get my car back in the same day. The only downside I have experienced are, #1,they do not have shuttle service,and #2, they often /typically do not return calls.They have lost my business several times,,...when I would leave a message for them,and they never call back. Hals auto,( I reviewed above),would call me as soon as they open.So I would say there is a lack of communication at A-Auto.If I leave a message,you would think they would call back.Sadly that has not worked out well for me at least.So to sum things up,their prices are a bit less,but I feel more comfortable with Hal's auto.They are very reliable.That is not meant to insult Mr.Le.He is a good mechanic,but due to the lack of communication, and that guy who works for them,well it just hasn't worked out so well for me. read more

I found Mr. Lee and A Auto when I was trying to find a shop to replace a muffler. The wholesale shop I called recommended him, and he was just around the corner. I love Mr. Lee and his staff (even though one of his mechanics wears a Dodger cap!) Both our vehicles get routine maintenece at A Auto now. Mr. Lee has diagnosed numerous problems with my old Mazda and my wifes old camaro, made the repairs in a timely manner and just "done us right". His prices are reasonable and if I have any problems with previous work, he makes it right! I love the fact that while I sit in his waiting room chatting with other customers, they all love his work and are return customers. What more can I ask? read more

My car started having trouble while driving down folsom blvd. It came on quick, the flashing light in the dash indicated a charging system malfunction, burning smell, etc. It just so happened that I was heading to Giovanni's pizza a little after 5, and passed A - Auto almost directly across the street. I turned in, and was greeted by Lam, the owner. Despite being closed, he quickly diagnosed the problem as the alternator, then gave me a ride to the enterprise car rental a few blocks down the street. The next day, the car was fixed. His estimate was spot on, and to top it all off, it was considerably cheaper than what I had seen on sites like angieslist when searching online. He even picked me up at enterprise again, so I could return the rental. Needless to say, I will be taking my cars here from now on! read more

There's an auto shop on Douglas in Roseville my parents use, it's by Popeyes and they once quotes my $2500 to fix my car after telling me a bunch of lies. I waited to bring it to my regular shop. Discovered it was all nonsense and he fixed my repairs for $270. I just read that someone here went to big O and said they were treated better. Lol I have been to big O a number of times. Big O took off my radiator cap when fixing my tires in hopes that my engine would explode because apparently I'm just a dumb girl. So that is just laughable. read more
