This store should have a much higher rating - it has to be the best flower shop in Edmonton. I always purchase flowers from here every couple of months they do a phenomenal job. I am going with two stars instead of one because I have to give them credit....they do some absolutely breath taking arrangements. The whole store smells amazing and the two floral arrangements I saw sitting at the front counter would make even the most modern of women squeal with excitement over getting such pretty posies. However when I entered the store there were two people wandering the floor and I had no idea whether one or both of them worked there. There was no hello,no smile,and not even a glance in my direction when I entered the store. I walked over to the locked display cases and browsed through there until a pen caught my eye. Still no staff appeared to ask if I wanted to look in the case or answer any questions I might have. I stayed a bit longer and glanced at some of the stationary products then when I finally realized that nobody was coming to help me I walked out the door with as much acknowledgement that I was leaving as I got when I came in. read more

I have patronized this cute little shop for awhile but will choose no longer to visit this store because of one or some of their products: post it notes with f**k you emblazoned on it and out in full view for all to see. I am from the old school whereby I do not want crude and vulgar notations for all to see. I've been a fan of The Artworks since high school. I can remember being in grade ten, moving to the city, finding this adorable little boutique and perpetually saving money to buy my next little self indulgence. I still visit often. I'm always blown away by the jewellery selection. There is a huge variety (both in style and price), but everything is artfully crafted and obviously amazing quality. My jewellery collection (mostly earrings and necklaces) is mostly from here. I can also always find thoughtful gifts here. There is clearly so much care put into every item and I've bought everything from candles to cuff links. The staff are amazingly helpful (I'm honestly surprised by some of the reviews around customer service - perhaps I've encountered someone who was a little timid from time to time, but I think the laid back sales approach really suits the atmosphere... the products speak for themselves). And, to top it all off, I had the absolute best experience buying flowers here. I had a really casual, low key wedding. We planned it a month prior. Neither of us wanted to stress or spend money and we just wandered down into the ravine with friends and family. The day before the wedding, I started calling around to ask about bouquets. When I mentioned to a couple of flower shops over the phone that I was getting married the next day, they either 1) chastised me for not ordering a bouquet sooner (seriously - they were way more stressed out about it than I was) or 2) scoffed at me and told me their cheapest wedding package started around $300. The problem was I really wasn't looking for anything fancy. I wanted one small bunch of wildflowers and a few loose ones to pin into my hair. Feeling discouraged, my mom and I popped into The Artworks after getting our nails done anticipating more of the same. Instead, the woman working showed me to the flower room, had me choose my favourite flowers (they were EXACTLY what I had in mind) and arranged them beautifully for me, finishing it off with a yellow ribbon. She also cut a small bunch and put them in a storage container so that I could wear them in my head the next day. $50 total and it was absolutely perfect. read more

This is a store hidden away in a corner of City Center mall. The store has been around for a long time and I view at a great spot to grab something quick for a significant other or mothers day. They have fresh cut flowers in great arrangements and they have great gifts as well. Things like jewelry, greeting cards and other out of the ordinary type gifts. This is one of those stores you can pass by a hundred times before you finally notice it is there. Tucked away in a quiet corner of City Centre Mall, Artworks sells beautiful, fresh cut flowers in arrangements that are very unique. It also sells quirky, fun, and unusual gifts, postcards, greeting cards, and jewelry. The merchandise here can be a bit on the pricey side, but I sometimes stop in to get some postcards to decorate my room. This is the only street-level boutique shop I can think of in the downtown core. We don't have much in the way of window shopping in our city centre, but this is one shop that's been a fixture for quite a while, despite the majority's tendency to head for the malls. There is so much that's beautiful in this store. It's full of jewelry and colourful, artistic gifts and decor. They also sell flowers, ceramics and unique art pieces, many by local artists, but the prices are astronomical. I've only been in here a few times, because I choose not to depress myself by looking at stuff that's way out of my price league. read more

What a fantastic store. Every time I go in I'm always impressed. At the flowers, the stationary, the collectibles. The staff are friendly and know their stuff and will be willing to help you out when you need it. There's one experience I had here that I won't forget, though. I had been in a few days prior and seen a Wes Anderson book. I thought, ah, I get paid next week, I'll go back and grab it then. I had a design project that week and figured that I would pick it up and use it for the project. I went in, and to my disappointment, the book was gone. I asked the woman working, and she said she would check in the back because they had a damaged one and took it off shelf. I said that I'd like to look at it and would be willing to purchase if the damage wasn't too bad. A taller man, the manager I believe, came out and asked what was going on, and then informed me that the book wasn't in the back and that an employee took it home. He texted her, got her to send him a picture, and then showed it to me and asked if it was okay. I said that I would be willing to get it and he said that he would give me a discount and have the employee bring it in first thing tomorrow. I just thought it was really nice that he went completely out of his way to help and went the extra step. He then thanked me for buying at Artworks rather than at Chapters or Coles. I've been past The Artworks store before but never went in... maybe I was just too worried my bag would hit something and I would end-up destroying someone's beautiful handmade work. Well today I decided to risk it all and go in to see what the store has to offer. Some of the jewelry they had in the display cases was really nice! I saw some fantastic silver bracelets with some dark blue beads or stones (I'm not sure which) but it was just so simple and so pretty that I wish I had the $99 to actually buy it and wear it for the rest of my life and then be buried in it. I, somehow, tore myself away from the bracelets and kept moving. They had some funky pens, nail clippers, Swiss army knives and make-up mirror cases. I also saw some great ceramic lamps that were just nice, plain and simple running for over $100. Then I saw an antique looking display. There were some interesting pieces! For example, there was this earring holder in the shape of a tree with leaves on it. It could have been made from a kind of gold or maybe bronze. It was really cute and if you like antiques then you would love this. I didn't get a chance to see the price; it was behind a case and they sales lady was busy with another customer. After wondering around a little more I came across the most beautiful handmade Italian leather journal! Oh, it was so pretty. The leather was like butter with a wrap around piece to lock it. They came if different colors like black, dark brown, light brown and a cool red color. They also came in two different sizes, the smaller one was $85 and the large one was $95. I'll be saving up for the larger size! I just hope they will have it then next time I go in. I would give 2.5 stars if i could. This is a fun store, but I agree with some of the reviews below. Customer service is seriously lacking. I've stopped by this place many times as i live in the area and they always have lots of interesting things to browse through. I don't think I've ever been greeted, acknowledged or smiled at even once. This past weekend I came in to look around and there were three girls working, no other customers in the store. I wasn't particularly looking for help with anything but a simple hello is always nice. So if you can move beyond the lackluster service, they do have some interesting and unique products and really beautiful flower arrangements..although everything is really pricey. Like $300 for earrings? Some things just seem absurdly expensive. I do appreciate they carry product from local artists, however I'll save my purchases for another store. read more

Their arrangements are to die for and I was very excited to get them to make one for my mom and dad's anniversary. Unfortunately it went wrong. I asked the lady who was helping me if they do Sunday deliveries as that was the day it was needed. She said yes. I placed the order and nothing came. I called Monday to ask what happened and they told me they don't do deliveries on Sunday. She then proceeded to tell me that the lady wrote Monday and that I made the mistake because that's what is written. I know what day it was needed so why would I need it the day after? Very disappointed. I would have gone to my usual place if she had told me they didn't do deliveries on Sunday but I wanted to try them out. Won't do that again. read more

The Artworks has been on the outside corner of Edmonton City Centre mall for as long as I can remember. I believe it was started by two young women. It's a great store to visit, if you're looking for a funky or unique gift. The fresh-cut flowers they carry are always bold and beautiful. Everytime I walk by, the bright colours catch my eye. Some of the jewellery here is amazing, but it's also very expensive, like most items in this store. They also sell items like ceramic pots, vases, small statues, and artwork. Many of these are by famous artists, and I know some of the items are by local artists; I'm just not sure how many. The greeting cards are really cool and very artistic as well. When I come here though, it's just to look around, because most of the items are way out of my budget. read more

I asked for cercain items and was told yes if they the (artworks employee) cant fill the wishes of the customer just sayso I i will gladly go someplace else. My husband, Ellis Hall and I were in Edmonton for Symphony Under The Sky where he was a featured guest performer with ESO and we decided to stay a few extra days to enjoy the city . Today, being our last day we decided to go walking taking in scenery as well hoping to take back a few items with us when we leave tomorrow. We walked into a quaint shop today. In addition to the allure of my favorite flowers my eye was caught by these cute little resin cast pig banks made by Area Ware. They came in different colors and sold at $250.00. Whether or not I would have bought one was not the issue I was asking questions of the sales person a young female who didn't acknowledge our presence until she saw our initial interaction with a beautiful Orchid (I am a collector) I asked my husband (who is blind) to sniff it, knowing there is no smell it was our quirky humor, her tone indicated she didn't want to speak to us only at us and she really didn't like the idea of us touching anything. When I asked her about the pigs she gave me the bare minimum information she would not allow me to finish my request of information and as much as said we could not afford it therefore dismissing us. After my final attempt at an inquiry led her to suck her teeth and turn away I told my husband this store evidently doesn't care about our business and we walked out. Any whoooo I found them online for almost half the price and I vow never to shop at The Artwork in Edmonton EVER!!! Stores live and die by service given or not given by their employees. I am shocked there are positive reviews for this place. My experience with it was forgettable to say the least. Walking by I thought, this might be a cool place to shop but my opinion quickly turned around once I walked in. They have quite a few items that look like they belong on an adult video store shelf and many others that are just plain tacky. And I can't believe how much they charge for such rubbish, I'm guessing rent must be very high in that area of downtown. As for customer service, there were 2 girls there when I was in, one of whom just stood at the counter with a disinterested deer-in-headlights look while there were a couple of other customers in the store that looked like they needed assistance. The one that I had to deal with, and there's no other way to put it, was completely useless. I was looking for some advice on a flower arrangement and she clearly had no desire to help me out and looked annoyed that I even had the nerve to ask for some help. The only reason I'm giving it 2 instead of 1 star, is that the flowers I ordered were decent. They didn't wow me, but at least they weren't dead. It's really just another example of a place that is highly over-rated in Edmonton, and I've experienced too many of them thanks to Yelp reviews. I think there are too many people in Edmonton that haven't really experienced a proper big city like Vancouver or Montreal or Toronto and all the amazing choices they have to offer in the way of shopping, because Edmonton is one of the worst for choice.
