The care and attention given by the Owner of Forward went far beyond what he needed to do. Always available to talk with when I had questions or concerns. The house was amazing with a large backyard with an inground pool and hot tub for those times when relaxing was just what the doctor ordered. If you're struggling with mental illness and or substance abuse and want to really recover and rebuild your life, there is no better place to do that than at Forward Wellness. I'll forever be grateful to Morgan and his team.

I've spent enough time in hospitals over the years to know that kindness can sometimes feel like a limited resource. Walking into West Hills Hospital, I honestly expected good medical care. What I didn't expect was to meet one of the most compassionate, respectful, and genuinely invested medical teams I've ever encountered. Dr. Namavar, the nurses, the social workers--every single person we met treated not only our family, but our loved one struggling with addiction, with a level of dignity and respect that frankly brought us to tears. Addiction carries so much stigma, yet not once did anyone make him feel like "just another addict." They saw a human being. That matters more than words can express. Our family had a very specific plan to safely transition him from the hospital directly into a rehabilitation facility. Every concern we had was heard. Every request was taken seriously. The team coordinated with the rehabilitation center, communicated with us every step of the way, and made sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Instead of making us feel like difficult family members, they made us feel like partners in his care. Then there was Dr. Namavar. I've met a lot of physicians. I've never met one quite like him. He sat down--not because he had to, but because he wanted to--and shared his own personal experiences with loss and drug overdoses. He wasn't reading from a script or giving a lecture. He was connecting with another human being. You could actually see the walls come down in the room. It was one of the most genuine moments I've ever witnessed between a physician and a patient. To the nurses: thank you for treating us like family. To the social workers: thank you for fighting just as hard for the next step as you did for the one we were in. To Dr. Namavar: thank you for reminding us that medicine is as much about the heart as it is about science. And finally... this is probably the weirdest compliment I've ever written, but if life ever decides to throw another medical emergency my way, I sincerely hope it has the courtesy to happen somewhere near West Hills Hospital. That's how much confidence you've given me. You didn't just care for a patient. You cared for an entire family. Thank you for giving us hope when we needed it most.

If you are truly ready to get sober, then this is a great program to start your new life in sobriety. The staff members are almost entirely in recovery themselves, and make an effort to listen to the client's needs and take action accordingly. There is a healthy mix of peer interaction, group and individual therapy, and the partial hospitalization program (PHP) does a lot to provide useful tools for the clients in areas such as relationship management, relapse prevention, self-awareness, dealing with triggers and understanding the effects that drugs have on the brain and body. The disease of addiction/alcoholism is cunning, baffling, and powerful. At restore, the team truly gives a great effort and does their absolute best to help the clients arrest the disease and make recovery truly possible. I wouldn't be equipped to deal with the pressures of "the real world" without drugs if it wasn't for the excellent help I received while at Restore.

Try and find Melmen's review. It is exactly what it's like there. To add to what the review said,…read morein my experience, they intake you and they recommend you come still using, just in case you were to have withdrawals on the plane over there. They make you sign all these papers pretty much signing all your rights away for the time you're there. The pictures they have on their profile were probably taken 20-30 years ago and the place looks NOTHING like that. The food is awful and a few people got sick while I was there. There is no "private chef". It's pretty much low-quality cafeteria food. The days they served fish, all but one person ended up just eating snacks because it was so awful. It's EXTREMELY unorganized and you can tell whoever owns the place only opened it to make money. They make it sound like you're gonna be taken care of and pampered like crazy, but the staff is just watching the clock and waiting to clock out. This is by no means an attack on the staff, most of them were super nice and caring, but not qualified like they deceive you. Admissions told me they take you on beach trips, bowling trips, and other activities on the weekends but I never experienced that while I was there. Getting to see the chiropractor lasted about a minute and half so they could bill your insurance for a whole session. They withheld much needed medications from patients because they had to wait on someone. A few people were going through extreme withdrawal symptoms but they sorta brushed it off. Never saw a private therapist. I think I saw maybe one licensed Dr while I was there. A girl had a seizure and the staff had no idea what to do. One of the other patients and myself had to wake up at 2AM and make sure she didn't hurt herself until it ended while we waited for the paramedics to arrive and while the staff just stood in the corner. It's a very harsh review, but the truth. The staff truly have great hearts, but aren't qualified. They said they have a huge turnaround rates with employees. Oh, and when I returned home, I couldn't find my keys with what they packed for me on my way out, and when I called to try and figure out where some of my stuff went, they just gave me the runaround and eventually just stopped answering my calls. The basketballs they had for us to play with all had holes in them, the shower knobs to control the hot water didn't work. The room for the toilet didn't have a light so if you had to pee in the middle of the night, you sorta had to wing it, and I shared a room with 6 other people when you finally get to the house that they're falsely picturing. It was quite an experience and I met some of the most amazing people that were all recovering together and I consider them family at this point, but I'd definitely choose another place. Oh, and one of the new intakes was really struggling with something and was wanting to leave but they wouldn't give him back his stuff so he spent the nights on the street because the agreement that you sign when you're drunk or high says you agree to not be given you're stuff back for 24 hours or something. Please please please don't listen to anything that admissions says because 99% of it is false. They got about $3,000 a day for my stay but the cost that actually spend on the patients is probably like $100 per person. Sorry for my rant. Got a little carried away but I hope it helps the next person.

I simply did not feel that her safety, dignity, and recovery needs would be properly supported. My mother needed help standing, walking with a walker, and getting to the bathroom safely. Instead, we were told that a walker would not be readily available and that staff would not assist her with getting up to use the restroom. The alternative presented to us appeared to be leaving her in diapers. For someone who had just undergone knee surgery and was sent there specifically to regain mobility and independence, this was deeply troubling. We were also asked to sign a consent form concerning sleeping medication at night. While I understand that medications may sometimes be medically appropriate, given the other concerns we were already experiencing, I was not comfortable agreeing to anything without clearer explanations and reassurance. The most heartbreaking part of my visit was seeing other vulnerable patients asking me a complete stranger for water because they said staff had not brought them any. When I informed a staff member, the response I received was that they did not need water. Watching elderly and dependent patients plead for such a basic necessity was something I could not ignore. I understand that every family may have a different experience, and I can only speak about what I personally saw and was told during my mother's time there. However, what I witnessed was serious enough that I could not leave her in their care. A rehabilitation facility should help patients safely rebuild their strength, confidence, and independence while protecting their basic dignity. Unfortunately, that was not the environment I observed. If your loved one is being considered for this facility, please visit in person and ask very specific questions about access to walkers, bathroom assistance, hydration, medication policies, staffing, hygiene, and the actual rehabilitation schedule. Pay close attention, and do not be afraid to advocate for them. I am thankful that I was present and able to bring my mother home. My heart remains with the patients who may not have family nearby to speak up for them.
