The gallery had a very fun atmosphere and we saw people of all types enjoying the show. As non-art-community people, I was worried if we would stick out or have a good time but I would say there is something for most everyone. The museum also has a good collection of other Egyptian artifacts. It has a first-class collection of art (paintings, sculpture, and pottery), cultural art and historical artifacts. They have different artists from around Oklahoma displaying artwork in all kinds of media. Last year they had a lady there doing pastel portraits of your pet if you brought in a picture. I brought in a picture of my dog, Lily, and it turned out amazing and watching an artist at work is always fun. I will cherish it forever. So sometimes they have neat stuff like that going on as well. If you haven't been to historic Guthrie you need to go anyway but you can not miss this gallery when you go. Check it out!

Every year they have a show for emerging artists and their selection is always amazing; you won't find mediocre artwork here. I was one of the artists for the 2011 show (I hope that doesn't make me biased) but I have to say my fellow artists in this show were AMAZING. Seriously, this is top notch art you would expect to see in San Francisco or Chicago. I believe they have new shows every 6-8 weeks so be sure to check their website for upcoming events. They also rent out the gallery for parties/receptions. I also have to mention that the staff is wonderful and very sweet. No pretentious folks here! There's also a few cafes nearby so this would make a cute little Saturday afternoon date! A definite go to spot for any art lovers.

Even if it's "not my thing" Its still a great time. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and happy to share and answer questions. Last week I participated in a Foil Sculpting Workshop with artist Douglas Shaw Elder. It rocked! Who knew you could sculpt with aluminum foil? The participants were kids through artists and me! We all left with foil sculptures and another reason to love this gallery.

Every room is beautifully done, with so many thoughtful details and great spots for pictures. The scavenger hunt is one of our favorite parts. We've visited multiple times and had a different one each time, which keeps it exciting. My kids especially love earning their stickers. The gift shop is full of unique and local items, and the staff is always friendly and enjoyable to chat with. We can't wait to go back!

I had heard about Factory Obscura for a few years and knew that Flaming Lips and some local artists were involved. It's an immersive art experience much like Meow Wolf on a smaller scale and I have to say it was very well done. You don't need a reservation (at least not in mid January) and the staff was great about offering suggestions for places to dine or things to do after the museum.
