I had a very disappointing experience at Grant's Frames. I brought in a one-of-a-kind acrylic…read morepainting and was prepared to spend about $800 on framing. Because I chose a floater frame and the white canvas edges would be visible, Grant suggested covering the edges with black tape for $25. Because the painting is valuable and irreplaceable, I specifically asked to see the result before committing to the framing. Grant seemed irritated by the request, but agreed. He applied the tape immediately, with my assistance, and the process took only a couple of minutes. Three sides looked fine, but one of the longer sides still had a clearly visible section of white canvas. When I pointed this out and asked if it could be corrected, Grant said it could definitely be fixed--but that he would charge me an additional $100 to do so. I found this particularly troubling. I had been quoted $25 for the tape application in the first place, and there had been no indication that correcting an incomplete application would result in an additional charge. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable entrusting him with an irreplaceable piece of art or proceeding with an $800 framing job. I took the painting to another local framer, who told me that taping the canvas edges was not an appropriate long-term approach because the tape could curl or peel over time. He recommended painting the edges instead. Grant did offer to refund the original $25, which I appreciated, but I declined. In retrospect, I'm glad the issue arose before I committed the painting to the full framing job. What began as a simple $25 finishing step left me questioning both the workmanship and the pricing, and I ultimately took my business elsewhere.

Since I was in Tulsa, close to Ziegler Art & Frame, I ran it in there to have the back replaced because the lady said she could do it without leaving the print. Having shopped at Ziegler's for over 40 years, I knew they would do a great job, and I fully expected it to cost a bit more; maybe $10-15. Was I shocked!! I walked out of the door with a new paper back for $37.98. What was even worse, I went to check out their ready made frames because I have three prints that I need to get framed. The thousands of exquisite ready made frames have been replaced with art supplies, and the ready mades were reduced to a miniscule number of frames moved to the NE part of the store. So sad. =..(

Time and travel had not been kind to the frames. Steve came to my assisted living community, took them, and returned them restored and strong. He did this work while I was away for my uncle's memorial service. These are not decorations to me. They are markers of service, friendship, and the life I lived. Steve handled them with care and respect. The finished work speaks for itself. I did not find him through Google. I found him through my own way of moving through the world. I am glad I did. If you have pieces that carry real meaning, take them to Steve.

I took this as a sign and finally checked it out. I'm so glad I did! It was a slow day so I took my time to walk all around the store while asking questions. Turns out it's an artist co-op nonprofit. Several artists came together to start it in 2020 to showcase unique creations and offer one-of-a-kind, handmade and specialty items from 40+ local artists and artisan makers. The name was inspired by Leon Russell's "Hummingbird" song, which is appropriate since the Church Studio is a block away. You can find a wide array of items, from clothing and jewelry, to glasswork, mosaics, pottery, photographs, woodwork, and more. I found a really cute fall mini frame, bead earrings, and a sun catcher, all one of a kind, beautiful, and affordable. If you like a particular artist, they have all their cards at the register. They accept special requests and commissions, and are also able to ship. They display artwork from Tulsa Public School students and have special art events, and workshops. Hammer Stars Inc Remodel Project - Fullmer Kitchen and Hardwood Floors:…read more During the spring to early summer of 2023 my wife and I decided we were going to remodel our kitchen. We started by visiting the remodeling show here in Tulsa where numerous homes were on display from various remodeling companies. Upon visiting the home remodel completed by Hammer Stars we had the opportunity to visit with Jacob and Josh about their company and what type of services they provide. We were both impressed by the ease of interaction we had with both of them. They seemed sincere, professional, willing to be creative and most importantly very honest. By early fall we began the bidding process where we had four companies provide bids to us. Hammer Stars being the one we selected. They were not the lowest nor the highest bid. Our selection was made primarily on the Hammer Stars remodel home we saw plus the solid personalities of Jacob and Josh upon our initial visit at the remodel show. We were also impressed with the bid process when Jacob came to our home and made recommendations and provided a bid in a short time frame. Our project began in mid-September, 2023. Hammer Stars assigned Caswell Thompson to be our project Manager to oversee the entire process. Communication with Caswell was terrific. He always got back to us quickly and when issues arose, we were able to resolve them with ease. The cabinet makers were exceptional. They took extreme pride in their work and it showed in the final product. In particular was their willingness to customize the cabinet doors and drawers to our desired design. A big thanks to Tyler, Andrew and Mo for their dedication and craftsmanship. As time moved on, my wife and I decided to expand our project to include Hardwood Floors throughout the downstairs outside of the kitchen area. Jacob quickly arranged for a bid to complete the floors since this was outside the original bid. Elmer and his crew did a fantastic job on the floors. The hand-scrapped oak flooring added an extra dimension to our home. It's beautiful. All in all, my wife and I could not have asked for a better experience. Hammer Stars were terrific to work with. They were timely, efficient and used very good sub-contractors. We highly recommend them and plan to use them again on our master bathroom remodel in the next year or two.
