We started out learning about the different types of sushi and Chef Kevin's background. He demoed a poke bowl and some of the different types of sushi, and talked about the ingredients he chooses and likes and the reasoning behind them. He talked us through rolling a grand avocado roll. Then it was our turn! We were given the ingredients and helped through putting them together and rolling our own. Chef Kevin walked around and gave us tips and help if needed. We cut our own and got to enjoy the fruit of our labor. We also got to enjoy samples of the poke bowl and other things the chef and demoed. Be aware that if you have a huge appetite you may be hungry after, one of the couples stayed at Sun and ordered from there menu, and others talked about getting something to eat elsewhere. But it was yummy and on a warm summer night it was the perfect amount for us. At $25 a person it was a fun night out. If you are an independent health member there is a discount, so look into that if it applies. Otherwise if you enjoy sushi give this fun night out a try!

The other group made a mushroom and prosciutto filling. She demonstrated how to use the Kitchen Aide pasta attachment. Next we we filled the ravioli and used the pasta cutter to make ravioli. My close friend that lives in town lost her father last week and I live out of state. I wanted to send her and her family some sweets from some place that felt genuine. I searched through at least 50 bakeries in the Rochester area and I couldn't find one that looked more authentic than Vanilla Lane. Im assuming it was the owner who got back to me so promptly.
