Food: 5 Service: 5…read moreAmbience:4 They have all the pastries NAILED. It's flaky, perfectly salted and the crust is perfect. Not too much chew and it doesn't crumble. The smell is correct. French style baguettes are perfect. The only problem is the pastries suffer from humidity of Houston and if not eaten fresh they can get soggy and lose their texture. I am referring to the mille fuille. The chocolate cake was really good and held up for a few days. I bought 4 baguettes, 4 mille fuille, 4 chocolate cakes and 2 boxes of mixed macaroons for $100. So not cheap but the flavor and presentation was nice. It's a must try in Houston. They do not suffer from a lack of business. So lines can be long. They are efficient however!! Bon appetit

We tried the following items and everything was delicious! -Chocolate croissant -Butter croissant -Chocolate almond croissant -Quiche The best thing I tried though was the Canneles de Bordeaux (rum & vanilla custard, caramelized crust). I will definitely be back specifically to get some more of those. My chai latte was very good as well. Service was friendly, attentive, and overall welcoming. You can also see into the kitchen through a large window, so we saw Chef Otto working his magic!

I believe the reason why this place gets bad reviews is because there's just too much great competition around. I actually think they have good bakery items and great prices. Service isn't always great, but sometimes it's not bad. You have to know which items to get and which items not to get, but on the whole I actually think it's pretty good and will definitely come here again.

The first morning, a pretty big group of us walked in all at once, and I honestly expected a long wait. Instead, the two employees working absolutely crushed it. They got everyone's orders out surprisingly fast without sacrificing quality, and you could tell they were working incredibly hard. The pastry case alone is enough to make you stop in, everything looked fresh, beautiful, and homemade. I ordered the Texan Croissant both mornings because it was that good. It was easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The croissant was perfectly flaky, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the runny egg yolk took it over the top. I also grabbed a coffee the second day, and it was really good as well. My only critique is that both days we visited, there was a strong smell inside that reminded me of urine or maybe a mildew-type cleaning product. It wasn't enough to keep me from coming back (clearly, since I went two days in a row!), but it was definitely noticeable and something I hope they can figure out. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service was impressive, and I'll absolutely be back for another Texan Croissant if i'm ever in the area!

I got a german chocolate cake cupcake, and although it wasn't "traditional" (since it used a dense, dark chocolate cake instead of the lighter brown cake typically associated with German Chocolate cake) it was very delicious; the coconut icing on top was very tasty and the cake was moist. I'd definitely stop back in if I'm in the area again, but coming from the Med Center I don't know if I'd make a special trip back.
