I visited on a Tuesday, so the vibe was laid back with plenty of open seats in the coffeeshop area. It was a hot day, so I ended up going with an iced chai, which was too sugary for my tastes. They also had a small pastry case, but I didn't partake. Service was friendly at both the coffee counter and book counter. Overall, a cute independent store worth popping into.

Books are organized by section, and there's a children's and YA section if patrons bring their children with them. Most of the books are used and a decent price. You can't go looking for something specific, though that's half the fun to wander and see what you'll find. There is this Santa Fe location, then one located in Taos. There were many boxes being sent up to the Taos location which were blocking small alcoves in the store. If I had a suggestion, it would be for that work to be done in the back so customers can access books; I was not able to enter the alcove I wanted to because of shipping boxes. Overall, an eclectic local bookstore that is fun to browse, if cluttered.

It was darn near as good as I would have hoped. We had gone…read moreup to Santa Fe specifically to have a chance to get a book from George R.R. Martins book store. My gal didn't know it, but I was having trouble finding a hard cover of the first book of the "Game of Thrones" series. I figured if anyone had it, Beastly would. We arrived direct from driving up from Albuquerque. We found the place easily enough, and walked in to a wonderful smell of coffee. The fella at teh register also made all kinds of concoctions. We had to get a cup after that, and it was excellent coffee. It's a brightly lit spot which was great. Along with the coffee aroma it also had some pine like smells I imagine from the woodwork of the shelves. That or the side room they had a spot they were doing some construction on what looked like an expansion. And of course they had plenty of hardcovers, so with a bit of subterfuge my daughter got the book so we could give it to my wife. It worked out great. Next time back we will have to check out his bar next door, as it was closed at the hour we were in town.

Thank you for allowing readers to not only touch but leaf through your rare collection, this is quite unimaginable in most used and rare book stores.
