We didn't expect to stop by any places while house shopping but hubby had to use the bathroom so why not give this place a try. The two people working were very welcoming. They had some football games playing and the view was nice. Wasn't too fond of the drinks taste but it did the job. Them green beans tho were a hit! This is going to be short and sweet, we were not expecting much as this resort has seen better days I suspect, but we were delightfully surprised by the friendly attentive service, the delicious generously portioned menu items thoughtfully presented, the salads were amazing, loaded with real blue cheese and super generous with the delicious crispy bacon as well as all the standard fresh produce. My wife had the wedge salad and added steak, perfectly prepared and a generous portion. We enjoyed 2 apps, the brussel sprouts skipping the sweet honey glaze and the battered green beans with Sriracha, (yum, but the carbs got me, my bad) My burger was perfectly prepared lettuce wrap style and the bacon was generous and delicious. We dined on the back patio and kept our eyes on the coyotes and the beautiful views of the surrounding skies and mountains. And the back patio is pretty friendly but keep pups on a short leash so they don't become a Scooby snack for the local coyotes. You don't have very many choices in Borego Springs, but this place is certainly worthy of consideration, though a bit off the beaten path. Super convenient if you are staying at the affiliated hotel (hard to say resort). Oh ya, full bar and they serve a good breakfast too. I'd get coffee/espresso beverages elsewhere. read more

Five stars for the food. It is a very dated place but kept up nicely. Quite the Time capsule. We had dinner on the patio with our visiting pooch and it was beautiful to watch the rabbits and squirrels going by and nature taking back the former golf course. We've been dining here for years. We enjoy the friendly, casual atmosphere and enjoy the beautiful view. When it's warm enough to sit outside, we definitely do. I don't splurge on burgers and fries much, but when I do, I want the fries to be worth it. And these are. Delicately crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We're staying at the adjoining hotel and wanted a quick bite because we missed lunch but wanted to save room for dinner. First of all, they have an expresso machine. We were staying at the resort for Thanksgiving weekend and decided to give the on-site restaurant a try. I noticed that there are no current menus posted here on Yelp or their website so I have posted it below. The good: everything tasted fresh and the views are amazing! The bad: all the staff we encountered was very nice but our server was somewhat forgetful and seemed a bit stressed? Our entrees also took an hour and a half to arrive! We were originally told the prime rib (special of the night) would take 30 minutes but we didn't receive our food until a hour and half later. The salmon was extremely dry and we didn't care for the sides. Prime rib was cooked well and clearly the better entree. We both felt everything was slightly under seasoned and a bit bland. Prices are reasonable for a higher end restaurant in the area with gorgeous views. Overall we would visit again to give them another try. read more

The choices for dinner in Borrego Springs are pretty slim. Over the years I have tried them all. So how does this place rate: The atmosphere is circa 1950/1960 which is cool. The place is comfortable and has a circular fireplace in one of the anti-rooms. When my wife and I were there the temps were in the high 80's so the fireplace wasn't burning, but I would imagine on cold nights it would be neat to sit around with friends and have a cocktail. The food here was just okay, with the exception of the onion rings which are among the best I have ever had. My wife had a breaded fish sandwich, or at least that's what the menu said. If there was any breading, I couldn't find it. I had a chicken pesto flat bread that had been cooked to parade rest. It was basically cardboard. They cooked it way too long and all the flavor abandoned ship. Wasn't horrible, I muscled a few pieces down. Now, what sets this place apart from the other two fine-dining restaurants in the area (Coyote Grill and La Casa Del Zorro) is the service. Luke was pleasant and provided quick service. At the other two it is not unusual to wait 1-2 hours for your food. Not unusual at all. Considering the entire dinner, it was okay, the atmosphere was great and the service was great. Good food would have made it a 5 star review, but 4 isn't bad. read more

Visited 6/16/2022 Stopped by tonight to see my old friend Bartender Taco. This place has a nice little bar area to go along with their full-size restaurant. Ordered a nice Ice Cold glass of Modelo draft beer and spent time with my old friend catching up. I asked my friend what he recommended for dinner and he said I should try the Hand Battered Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and Butter Sautéed Fresh Veggies. I definitely wasn't disappointed. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside just the way I like it. The potatoes were fluffy with a well seasoned delicious chicken gravy. I'm not a big vegetable kind of guy but I gotta say these were cooked perfectly and had a great buttery flavor. They give you a full half a chicken four pieces Wing, Leg, Breast, and Thigh. My friend also suggested I come in and try the shrimp scampi sometime. Definitely on my list for another visit as well as coming back for the chicken again. For Borrego this is a breath of fresh air. I will be back. read more

This place is severely understaffed with two guys running around with their heads cut off. It's large in area so they're definitely getting their steps in. It took 10 minutes to acknowledge our presence, 10 more to get water and a place setting. We're still waiting on our order thirty minutes later and others have been waiting even longer. We have eaten at arches at least once per year and have not had great service the last 2 years. This year was the worst and we will never eat there again. Knowing holidays can be a busy time, we made a reservation for 12 on Dec 29. We were seated for 45 minutes when we got our drinks. Dinner was served about 90 minutes after we arrived. Burgers were raw in the center (not pink....red) and battered fish was not cooked inside. The restaurant was not full. There were 2 tables of 3 and our table of 12. To be honest, if I had come here first, I'd give it fewer stars. The place was semi-empty and in need of new chairs and carpet and decor. But after being to other "upscale places" in the area where you are treated like crap, I would say this is five stars. The view outside is wonderful, especially at sunset. The staff is super friendly, apologize if you wait five minutes, bring you everything you need and check on you in a pleasant non-interrupting way. The food is good as are the drinks. The best thing though is the ambiance of the outside, the view is amazing and you get to see the swifts and bats come out and hunt, jackrabbits running around, the hills change colors. On the plus side, it's definitely convenient to have a restaurant on site at the hotel, and they just recently reopened for patio (and indoor) dining. Biggest problem was that they were seriously under-staffed, especially for a Saturday night. There was only one employee, who was acting as hostess, server, bartender, busser and cashier. We were thirsty and hungry after a hot 108 degree day, and it took a full 30 minutes just to get our waters, and 1-1/2 hours to get our food, even though she was literally running at times. The food was pretty good. We tried the Ceasar salad, wedge salad, salmon, and a couple shrimp scampis. I'd give it another try next time we're in town. read more

I was hesitant to dine here because of the negative reviews, but I took a chance because it was boiling hot outside (114 F) and I didn't feel like driving into the main part of town. Since I was staying at the resort, it took less than five minutes to walk here. The service and food weren't half bad, but nothing to rave about. It was empty when we arrived for an early dinner, but guests slowly trickled in. There wasn't a hostess when we walked in, but we eventually got seated. There was only one server so service was a little slow but I heard that's how it is in Borrego Springs. They are more relaxed than us Los Angelians. Prime Rib Saturdays - Not a bad deal! 12 oz for $22 and it came with loads of mashed potatoes. Can't compare it to Lawry's but it was decent. Crazy Bird Burger - This was pretty good, my boyfriend gobbled it down. It had a bit of a kick with the jalapeno and came with skinny fries. Tomato Garlic Pasta with Shrimp - This looked REALLY appetizing and my mom didn't complain so it had to be pretty good cause her standards are high. This place is terrible the food is not eatable. It looks like you took a Time Machine to the 80s and where at the prom. The carpet and chairs have been there since 1984. The food was just ok at best. My wife had a Cobb salad which was bigger then the plate and the vinaigrette was old I had a Philly cheesesteak and it was so dry it was like eating cotton balls. If you are not about to die of starvation please do not eat here a hotdog at the 7/11 is better then anything you can eat here. read more

We have eaten at The Arches three times in the last three days, obviously we are big fans. This morning we had breakfast once again and Ruby was as pleasant today as she was the first time and breakfast and Bloody Mary's were excellent once again. Tonight we decided to try dinner and again, not disappointed. Our server was Luz, very nice! I had the Shrimp Alfredo, OMG, I have never seen such huge shrimp (gulf shrimp), very good! My husband had the rib eye, excellent! Again, moderately priced, a bit more than we would normally spend but considering the convenience of walking across the street from our hotel, the quality of food and the friendly service, a fair price indeed.
