Clean, well kept absolutely nicely maintained, the games mostly all work, and it's $20 for all you can play. I brought my little boy here who's a huge Dave and Busters fan. He's a little young yet to get into the old school arcade games but we had a good time on the racers and he's just starting to get down with pinball which they have a lot of. We often go to Pinball Pete's but this is a great alternative. They don't have the skeeball or some of the larger games, and there isn't a prize counter but for the cost and location I much prefer The Arcade. He and I can play for $40 where D&B or Pete's is more like $50-100 if we're both playing. read more

Wow! Just wow! The Arcade is amazing. So many machines crammed into one space. Admittedly, I came for the pinball of which there was plenty. But on top of that there are modern international rhythm games, classic arcade cabinets, and even those modern sit down arcade monstrosities that are more like pieces of furniture than games. All of which are included to play for free with your admission. For some, that is an incredible deal. But if you are pretty good at pinball $20 can last a long long time at a regular arcade. Still, free play offers an opportunity to try out difficult shots and improve one's pinball game without dipping deeper into your wallet. There are a few downsides. As others have mentioned it's warm inside. Not surprising given the number of machines. On a hot summer day, despite fans circulating overhead, I was literally dripping in sweat wearing just shorts and a t-shirt. Next time, I will wear a lighter shirt and might consider rocking a sweat band around my noggin. Or, I might wait until cooler temperatures roll along. Being open only three days a week is a bit of a bummer. I'd also love to see a little more space between machines, as it's not uncommon to get bumped into during a game, and that's unfortunate. However, I would also hate to see The Arcade lose any of the machines they've got, so I'll happily suck up the occasional physical contact. At the moment, The Arcade has pinball machines spanning a wide swath of time including The Big Lebowski, Bonzai Run, Pinbot, Taxi, Toy Story 4, and the brand new John Wick. Their Elton John machine was wrapped up for transit, and it was unclear if it was coming or going. I do also love that you can have in and out privileges. One of these days, I'm going to have a Saturday pinball marathon, arriving at noon when The Arcade opens and staying until my body fails me. Maybe I can even make it to closing at 11pm, but even if I could log eight hours of pinball, that would be incredible. My biggest piece of advice is dress appropriately. Maybe consider bringing a portable fan or cooling device to hang around your neck. Ear plugs or headphones might also help you last longer and get more out of your admission fee. read more

Update: The Arcade did not "get rid of half their pinball machines." In fact, today, they had 41 tables, excellent tables, in great condition. FREE PLAY on all pinball. Last year at this time, they had 27 tables. So let's see...let me bust out my HP 33cs, with RPN, and calculate...YES, just as I thought! 41 is greater than 27! The Arcade actually has MORE tables now, not fewer! What did decrease, though, is the number of classic/retro arcade machines. Still, with 76 playable games, you'll get plenty of bang for your 10 or 15 bucks. And, although fewer than before, there are still plenty of uncommon/rare titles to enjoy. Of course, all of the blockbusters are still here. What also changed, is that the arcade added a ton of newer shooters, drivers, riders, dancers, skiers, etc. I guess these games have more appeal to some adults and kids. Regardless of the negative reviews, this is an absolutely fantastic retro arcade...and it's not too hot in here! And now, back to our original review... This is the best arcade that's within an hour (or so) of Toledo, and that includes the places in Detroit. Also, with the exception of the Chicago's Galloping Ghost, It's better than the arcades and barcades in that town, too. The Arcade in Brighton MI has at least 100 (classic and new) video games, and about (mostly new) 30 pinball tables. There's more than that...some are down for repairs, and the rotation of active games shuffles. Are the games actually playable? The majority of these games are in very good shape, especially when you consider that some of the video games are over 40 years old. Pretty much everyone of the pinball machines is in "new, great, or very good" condition. Cost: Leave your quarters at home. All games are set on free play, including the pinball machines. New pinball tables that would normally drop a buck per play? Play all day for the cost of admission. Admission? 15 bucks on Friday and Saturday, and 10 bucks on Sunday. The spaces are a little tight in here, and it's a little hot. Apparently, not everybody in Brighton knows where to buy deodorant. I read some of those 1 or 2 star reviews...I don't know what some people expect out of an arcade, especially one featuring classic games and pinball. I guess maybe The Arcade needs to feature games that spew redeemable tickets? After all, your kids can trade those tickets for candy and cheap-shit-made-in-China toys. read more

Wow..went here last night and am blown away with the pinball machines as well as old arcade classics and NEW arcade games (Halo, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, etc). The had games I only saw when I was in Japan (Japanese arcade games). Most pinball arcades have pro models and this place has NONE! Everyone is Limited Edition or Premium with more Le's than premium even. They have a Spider-Man Vault with the Chromed Apron which is gorgeous (see pics below). read more

A little backstory about this place (from what I remember) : Back in the 1980s there was a small and crappy mall with a K-Mart on Grand River and I-96 in Brighton ( the building where Michaels is now) . Inside was an ice cream parlor ...forgot the name ..Strohs maybe? Anyways,inside that small parlor they always had the latest arcade games . They had maybe 10 or so of the latest games in the 1980s, and by the early 1990s they crammed as much as they could in there to the point it was just about an actual arcade (with ice cream). I recall the last games they had was Daytona USA when it just came out, then the mall (and K-Mart) finally closed. During the last year or so of the mall closing, the owner of the parlor had so many arcade games that he rented a store in the dead mall just to keep his massive collection somewhere. I remember always looking in awe. Sometime in the mid 1990s, the owner of the now defunct ice cream parlor opened up a family fun center in the same general area , located at the building where Dollar Tree is now ( as of 12/2022). Again, I forgot the name of the family fun center, but it was rather large . That must have been there till around 2005? I moved out of state during that decade so the date is a guesstimate. Anyways, I drove by one day to find out they went out of business, and a handful of years would pass before they finally opened up The Arcade as you see it today. So, as you can see the owner has been in the business a very long time ,providing Brighton with arcade game goodness since the early 1980s. We went here on Sunday for the first time, and both the adults and the kids had a blast. On Sunday's it's $10.00 for a wristband that allows you to play all day long. They have tons of pinball machines that take me back to my childhood. There were a few that were not working, but it wasn't a big deal since they had so many. They also had tons of old school arcade games like Pac-man and Donkey Kong. I did not play a lot of these games as a child, so I was not familiar with a lot of them, but they were still a lot of fun. They also had racing games were you got to ride on motorcycles and four-wheelers. They do not sell food here, but you can leave and bring food back with you or go out to eat and then come back. My only suggestion is that having a Mario Kart racing game could be a ton of fun. Great deal for the cost, and we will be back soon. read more

We've all seen a movie from the 80's with the cool arcades thinking "Damn. I wish a place like that still existed.". This is the place. It is as close as you can get to the arcades of yesteryear, and you will feel like a kid again. We did anyways. This is not one of those new pubs with a few games claiming to be an arcade or beercade. All they have is games. No prizes to win, no craft beer, no teenager in a rat costume...just games, and I love that. There are drinks for sale for a $1, but that is it. Once you buy a wristband (cash only!), you can play allll day. We went on a Saturday, so it was $15 each. Sundays are $10. We made that $15 each last a heck of a lot longer than $15 usually would in an arcade so we felt the price was perfect. There is a little bit of everything here. Some older cabs, newer games, pinball, shooters, stuff from Japan, racing games....if you can't find something you like here, then you don't understand the joy of hanging out at an arcade. lol I lost count at 40 for the pinball machines! Old and new pinball games. There was every kind of Donkey Kong cabinet ever made, and some really obscure stuff I had never seen or heard of, which made it so fun. Since everything is on free play, you don't mind trying the random old games because you are not pumping a quarter in it hoping it works. My husband and I had a blast walking around going "I used to play this with my friend all the time! Wanna play?!". Dress lightly. We were about 5 min in and we both decided to put our jackets in the car. It gets warm in here. The air is running, but there are so many games, it is hard to keep it cool, so keep that in mind. We only ran into a few games that didn't work, but since we didn't have to put money in it, we didn't feel ripped off. We drove 40 min to get here and would go again in a heartbeat. I've been to a handful of other local arcades and this is by far the best! $15 per person, all games on free play; made me feel like a kid again! There were upwards of 100 machines, old and new, video games and pinball. A nice mix! I was mostly interested in getting to play an early Mortal Kombat cab and they had 2 and 3 plus a brand new cab of Mortal Kombat X, which I didn't even know existed. Very cool. Lots of old Williams, Nintendo and Midway cabs, and I was excited to see both Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. Also, the Star Wars Battle Pod was amazing. I only experienced a few machines that either didn't work at all, or one of the other player controls didn't work. I'd expect that this would be an issue, but since I'm not wasting quarters, it really wasn't a big deal. Like I said, I've been to a other arcades that charge up to a dollar per play, and was very let down to find out that the controls were very wonky or didn't work at all. The pinball setup is pretty spectacular as well; again, a mix of old and new. I'm not really into what's what, so I couldn't speak for the quality or rarity of any of the machines, but the vast majority of them worked flawlessly and I unexpectedly spent more time playing pinball than anything else. I'd LOVE to see an NBA Jam cab, Lethal Enforces, NARC and a better variant of Street Fighter 2 (they only had Championship Edition), but I have zero complaints about any of the games. Yeah, you'll probably run into a few kids that are running around, but it's an arcade. Arcades attract kids. Kids runs around and act like kids. If you've ever spent time in any arcade ever, this is a thing. An exceptional value. I wish this were closer to home, but I'm glad someone has deployed a brilliant model for a classic arcade. On the weekends, you pay a flat price and all of the machines are on 'free' play. It's smaller than Pinball Pete's in Ann Arbor & has less of a variety of games (no newer ones, so don't come here if that's your thing), but a better value. And really, it was way larger than I was expecting and even has an upstairs. We stayed longer than we usually do at Pete's because you can't run out of money! The Arcade is very nostalgic and you'll find tons of games from your childhood. I should note that there were little kids there too, though, who seemed to have lots of fun. We played Frogger, Space Jam pinball, Mario 3, The Simpsons, and SO MANY COOL PAC-MAN games. I only go to arcades on occasion, but ones that were new to us/we had never heard of that I'd suggest are: Timber, Bubble, Mystic Marathon, and Hot Shot. It was great trying so many new games without worrying about wasting a quarter :) Some machines were down, but the staff was very approachable and you can ask for more 'credits' if that's why a machine isn't working. There was more than enough to keep me entertained, so I didn't mind the broken ones at all. Three hours here flew by! My boyfriend plays video games daily, but he was the one dragging me, the amateur, out when it was time for dinner. By the way, there is food available at The Arcade. If you're stopping in, check out Tropical Smoothie Cafe nearby (but don't bring outside drinks into The Arcade) before or after. Perfect little date night! read more

*VERY MISLEADING YELP PHOTOS* Sorry, had to get that out there. Crap man, what a bummer. I saw a Groupon for something 2/$15 for an all-day pass, so I wound up going with my friend and his girlfriend. We were looking forward to this place but it ended up being mediocre. If you love arcade games (non-pinball), there's a lot to do here. There are dozens and dozens of old-school arcade games, although there are quite a few that are turned off. For pinball, there are actually only about 20 working machines, unfortunately. The good thing is that a majority of the working ones (ones not turned off) played decently or better, so that's a plus. What sucked about this place, other than the fact that I was expecting far more playable pinball machines, is that it was scalding hot inside. For some reason, after a few hours, they turned OFF the ceiling fans. Not like they were doing much anyway, but at least they were circulating the air at all. It was 85 degrees outside, and it felt better out there than in The Arcade. That's pretty sad. So, yeah, I almost regret driving an hour just to visit this place. Fortunately, the all-day pass wasn't expensive at all, and there are some great machines to play here -- notably a rare Black Spider-Man machine, NASCAR (believe me), Junk Yard (plays super well for a 19 year old machine), and a few really new machines, like KISS and Metallica. Of course, who knows how long they'll be there... very few of the machines in these Yelp pictures are still there, just after a year. For instance, I've heard people complaining about the Star Wars machine not working at all since they've been open. Okay, is the owner aware that this is a place of business and not his garage? It looks bad and it's a waste of space. Do something about it, guy. I'll be back at some point, but there's no denying that the owner needs to actually put some effort into fixing his machines if he plans on staying open much longer. read more

I've been wanting visit here for awhile. Heard it was the best arcade in the area. That's far from the truth. You pay 20 dollars to play the arcades all day, 15 on sundays. That's way to much considering most of the arcade cabinets don't even function, so overall you get like maybe 10 to 15 games to play tops. I like the idea of paying once to play all day but there was no variety. Not everything was bad. The place did have a couple of classics me and my girlfriend enjoyed but yet again it was only so many you could play. Overall it's some decent games there but I would recommend going on sundays to spend 15 dollars. If you don't want to do that, go to pinball Pete's in Ann Arbor. You will enjoy it a little better. read more

I've been to The Arcade a few times while visiting Michigan and would definitely go back! They're right next to a small store that sells booze which makes it easy to play some drinking games with a friend, if that's your thing. They're also very nice about you leaving and reentering multiple times a day as long as you're wearing your wristband. I've always enjoyed my time there even though it's pretty busy, and I think they have a good assortment of games including a few of my favorite pinball machines like Attack From Mars. It's affordable and makes for a fun day of play, so don't hesitate to check them out! read more

How time flies... I thought I wrote that review 1 1/2 years ago, and it closer to 3. I decided to go back to The Arcade and try them again. I still had a pocketful of tokens from the first time, so off I went. Upon walking in the place, it has changed radically from the first time. Many more machines, both pinball and video, again including in some games I have not seen since I was 10 or 11 years old. I was surprised. I found out that they changed from token to a flat fee and put the games on free play (which was a very good idea and seems to be the business model for arcades these days). My only problem is that my payday is not until this coming Monday, so all I did was take a tour of the place. I have to say that I was impressed. I left one star off because I was not able to play the games and see their state of repair. but as I said above, if they got it right they would be the best arcade in the state, they are well on their way towards achieving that goal. read more

I just had a terrible experience at the Arcade, and I won't be back. We went for the all day free play event that took place today, and didn't arrive until 8pm, mistakenly thinking that it was for the full hours of operation and not until 9pm. No one warned us that we were buying wristbands for only an hour, the signage was not clear, and unless you had checked this Facebook page, it seemed like there was no way to clearly be informed of the hours of the event. We paid $40 for two people to play for an hour, and when we realized that all the machines would be turned off of free play at nine and requested that we receive a refund for *one* of the wristbands, as we had misunderstood and hadn't played even $20 of games in the time we were there, we were denied that request -- which seems to me to be poor customer service, and nothing short of it. Why not have a full day of free play for $20? Why switch free play off all the machines as soon as 9:00 pm hit? We were honestly some of the last people in there -- we had stepped out to the car for a moment, and when we came back in, no one was there. I was puzzled by this until I realized that with the 9pm curfew in effect, everyone had left. It's greedy, that's why not. It's the same reason why Rollergames, and Hurricane, and 8 Ball Deluxe are all $1.00 to play, when in any other reasonable arcade, games of that age would be $.50 or less. It's the same reason why paying $2.00 for three plays on a new Stern, as advertised, only gives you 2 plays. I won't be going back to the Arcade. I'm utterly disappointed in the attitude, the environment, and the lack of character that they've displayed. read more

This is a pretty fun place! Good mix of games and I like the flat rate for an evening of gaming on the weekends. That said, there are a couple of things that could be better. One is that their DDR machine is right next to speakers they pump music out of for the arcade in general making it virtually impossible to hear the game's music over the arcade's music. It's unfortunate. I really enjoy DDR but I find it unplayable in its current location. Second is absolutely no Street Fighter of any kind. Not SF2, not MvC not Alpha - none of it. I recognize that their space is only so big and they can only fit so many games but no Capcom brawler of any kind like this is a pretty big omission. Also they only have one of the MK games and I think it's just one of the more 3d ones. With their bent on more classic games I would have preferred to see Ultimate MK 3 or something to that effect. Otherwise though the place is awesome. The staff is friendly and it's a great way to relive the past glory that is the arcade :). read more

This was definitely a step into the past. Mostly in a good way. They have an eclectic mix of mostly classic arcade games mixed with pinball and few newer games. Their pay for a pass rather than coin/token option was pretty efficient and really let you spend your time without worrying about it draining your wallet. They also have a Groupon that they run pretty frequently that cuts the price almost in half. The staff was polite, efficient and kind of bored. Matching up with pretty much all of my memories from the 80s. ;) Games were variable in their state of upkeep. Some were not working, many were extremely beat-up which could be a bit frustrating. The place overall had that vaguely neglected feel of most arcades I grew up playing in. Overall not a bad way to spend a couple of hours inexpensively. read more

Large selection games, flash back to the 80's arcade plus newer games. Down fall was some video games not working, pinball machines need repair as balls getting stuck on parts that are loose or broken. Biggest issue is we are in a pandemic an face masks are required to be worn in doors. After being there about an hour the girl today did not enforce the rules and saw several people playing with out masks at this point I had to leave. I will give this place a second chance once the pandemic is over. read more

Legit arcade. Game selection well thought out and most important of all, my girls can feel safe playing here because they definitely cater to children, not over nostalgic Millennials or Gen-Xer's. Two floors of nothing but everything you love about what an arcade should be. 95% of the games work and that's awesome. Tons of pinball machines both classic and new. Machines are clean, and were being cleaned as players moved on to other games. Staff is courteous, polite and helpful. Best of all is price, $10 on Sunday and you can get down the whole day with unlimited play on every game they have. I remember paying $1 per play whenever I went to an arcade in my hometown. Plenty of pinball games and a nice mixture of new and "old" (including, Tapper!) video games. I read reviews and learned this place gets pretty warm, so our party dressed appropriately. This place has gone downhill in a major way. Most of the pinball machines are gone now so don't expect to play those top titles you see in the pictures here or on Facebook. The pinball machines they do have are either inoperable or have a broken component in them that renders them basically unplayable. Many of the arcade games are also broken/not turned on, or are still wrapped in shipping material. The owner seems to be using this facility as storage and or dumping ground for games. It's barely worth the Groupon price these days. It's a disappointment. read more

My experience here was bland. Each person costs $15 for a wristband to play the games, instead of being able to individually purchase coins. Although the concept is a neat idea, the price is not friendly for families or large groups. Not only was it expensive, but half the games either did not work or were in a foreign language. Spent a few hrs. over the weekend with my son and a few other friends. Very inexpensive considering how fast the games add up even if they were only 25 cents. Tons of the games from when "pinball arcades" morphed into "video game arcades". I only wished there were some pool tables and dart boards to really round out the gaming experience from our teens. Some tall tables or bars against a wall to rest and have something to drink in between space battles would have been nice. More video games than pinball, but plenty enough games to keep you busy all afternoon if you have the energy and concentration. More than worth the money we paid for Groupon Passes to get in. read more

Stopped in to The Arcade to check it out and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the condition and selection of the video and pinball games here. The pinball games are in immaculate condition. Somebody here really cares. The video games on the second floor are a trip back into time to my youth at the arcade. Lots of 80's video games here. A couple of drawbacks to this place...it's really tight space wise. If you stand a bit back from the game you're playing if it's busy you're likely to play the bump with someone else's behind. Also, as much as this is a really cool place it's not cheap. The pinball games start at a buck a play and the video games are less but at least a couple of tokens to play. That said I'd probably take advantage of their one price all you can play events. read more
