Attended Holiday at Hogwarts here. What fun! Your ticket even comes with a wand you pick(well, the wand picks you, right?) at Hogsmeade across the street. Ok meal with fun theme drinks. The drink are a bit pricey - concert venue rates. The actors did a great job and stayed true to characterful night. We will be back! read more

So I haven't put up my review I wanted to do from my first yelp elite event here about a year ago, which was actually 4 stars, but tonight pushed them up to 5 stars! They have really come a long way in a year's time and their current show about the Titanic (April 2015) was so amazingly done! The characters that you're asked to be are real passengers on the Titanic and they served the exact dessert that was served to first class passengers the day the ship sank (which was actually the anniversary date of the night we went). It was so good we are thinking of going back to sit in the "steerage" section instead of first class to check it out from another perspective! Both times we have been there the food is excellent and the price is pretty good for a 3 course dinner and a show! Oh and we got our own stereo card picture for $5 as a souvenir at the end of the show too! read more

The event that I attended at the Apollon was a blast (it was the open mic event that takes place every Tuesday at 8:00pm***correction: the open mic is no longer an event that takes place here). The people that performed as well as the audience members were all so much fun & there was a tremendous amount of talent. While I appreciate that the event was free to attend, the drinks were insanely overpriced. It cost $6 for a rum & Coke served in a very small glass (& it wasn't heavy on the rum). Also it took almost 10 minutes for our drinks to be made & there wasn't a line or anything that I could see that would have caused it to take so long (they don't make the drinks in front of you- there's a small desk that you order from & then they disappear in another room to make it). I also saw the performers get "in trouble" a few times for drinking water that they brought water bottles into the venue (because the Apollon sells water). I found this to be incredibly disrespectful & petty. I found the event to be fun but the actual venue was unfortunate. The location is also far from ideal & there is no parking at all (unless you get lucky & can park directly on Vinton, you're going to end up walking a few blocks in an unsavory part of town). read more

My friend did a show in the space and the owners were very helpful. Sort of a small space unfortunately but very functional and unique. The space allows you be very creative with all the aspects of a show. Creates a very intimate atmosphere between actors and audience. read more

Honestly enjoyed the event "it's all Greek to me" . Had such a blast ! The performance , the food and drinks as well . I'm looking forward to their future events . read more

I was disappointed in the cost of this event. I think is was over priced for what you received. I think if you have an interactive audience, everyone should be involved; especially if the event is based on reservations. I will not attend this venue ever again. What a fun and unique experience! We had a great time coming here for my birthday! Got a group together and dined in first class. We loved having new identities, but were less excited that we couldn't all sit together (first come first served seating-wise, so we divided), and that some of us had dressed for the wrong part (I have no problem playing a male role, but it's hard to pretend to be Walter when wearing a fancy dress - or at least you get some strange looks when your fellow performers ask your name, and then they forget to invite you for cigars on the deck!). The ticket ordering system needs updating - none of us could figure out how to book, and we all ended up in and out of the ordering system enough times that one managed to book the wrong date once they were attempting for the 8th time. Turns out the multiple ticket option is available once you get to paypal. There was no way to explain food preferences (veggie had to email ahead, which was a blessing because the kitchen would not have been prepared otherwise). Plus if we could indicate our gender, maybe playing our roles would have been a bit easier! All that aside, it was wonderful! They helped us get around the ticket problem, which we were all very thankful for. Dinner was good, and it was fun to play our parts - we weren't given much to go on though. I've done murder mystery parties where they tell you what to reveal and discuss - this was a bit more awkward with us needing to Google some historical facts to stay accurate, and we never got to know our true dining companions. Trying to pretend to be a high society member when you only have a name and knowledge of where your fortune comes from doesn't give you many conversation starters. The decor and experience were great fun, although it did seem evident that the actors were trying to herd cats the whole time. They did it well and we tried to play our parts and pick up on their cues. Ultimately it was fantastic, but suffered a bit from not enough planning. Gender-specific parts, making up character traits even if they had to stretch historical accuracy, and a generally less-chaotic performance could have made it a 5-star night! Excellent deviation from the normal night out. I would highly recommend checking it out. read more

I have attended two shows at the Apollon: Titanic and Dr. Seuss. I love the concept of the interactive dinner shows and I think they do a nice job with the space they have. Sometimes the forced interaction/improv feels awkward. And the acting is so-so. The food is what really needs improvement at the Apollon. From the strange combination of flavors to the less-than warm temperatures to the over-all quality, there is a lot that is left to be desired. The service is slow as well...two or three people trying to clear and serve the entire place isn't good enough. Drinks take forever although they are reasonably priced. I want to keep trying this because I think it's a great idea in a neighborhood that needs some attractions. One more chance on the food and if it's not better I'm giving up. read more

We went to A Steampunk Christmas. $30-some dollars to choke down cold ground beef while listening to some guy talk about his steampunk hobby? It's really hard for me to review this since the "performance" was essentially non-existent: two girls sang a few carols and a mad-scientist guy did a card trick--other than that it was awkward silence as the entire audience was waiting for something to happen the entire time. I'm not sure who or what I was supposed to be interacting with at the performance. A group at the table next to us left early, and I wished I would have too. They ended by handing out self-hardening clay (the interactive part?)...but they didn't even give some to everyone! Come on, we paid for SOMETHING and all we got was cold dinner and no clay. The actual art on display was good, and the bar across the street has cheap drinks and fast food isn't too far away, so that was a plus! *you'll notice this is my first, and as of now only, review. The Apollon needs so much improvement that it drove me to create a Yelp account. They need to at least have comment cards on their tables because they could benefit from some help. read more

I recently attended my second event at the Apollon. This is definitely a unique experience. It is not quite a performance, but more of an audience participation event with some "acting", some craft activities that tie in with the theme of the event and a lot of audience interaction. The first event that I attended was the Holiday at Hogwarts, a Harry Potter themed event. The tickets were a little pricey. However, with the dinner and the fun of the evening, I felt we received our value. The second event was for the The Rebellion Ends: An Apollon Star Wars Story. We took our 13 and 15 year old sons who love Star Wars. Overall the family thought the experience was okay, but a little over priced. In addition, we were expecting a little more for the meal. We ended up having to stop somewhere on the way home and pick up something to eat. Having gone to both, I was disappointed in the second event. The food concepts were fun and tasted good, there just needed to be a little something more. I love the concept, I just think that they need to bring it up a notch (food and/or acting/experience) to match the price or lower the price slightly. read more
